Introducing the SDRplay RSPdxR2

The new RSPdx-R2 1kHz to 2GHz wideband SDR from SDRplay
The RSPdx-R2 is an enhanced version of the RSPdx with further design improvements for use at frequencies below 2MHz. Housed in a strong steel case, in addition to the functionality of the RSP1B, the RSPdx-R2 provides three software selectable antenna inputs and an external clock input. It offers excellent performance through HF and VHF frequencies all the way up to 2GHz. The RSPdx-R2 also supports an “HDR mode” optimised for the demanding radio reception conditions below 2MHz.

00:24 The need to redesign to address component shortages
00:49 Key additional features compared to the lower cost RSP1B single antenna version

Why not show the PCB and the difference / quality in components and design? I would guess 90% of your viewing audience would immediately understand the difference -- the thought, care, and expense that went into the new offering. Just saying it's the new black box leaves me wanting.

I am having a hard time picking up anything in VHF/UHF. Not even FM Radio. Changed modes, narrow and wide. I have connected to HF and VHF/UHF antenna through duplexer. I have used with other radios and can confirm antenna works. I am running through panadaper on Icom 7300. Perhaps it can't pass any signals beyond the Icom 7300 range? It is working as separate HF receiver. So I am thinking I would need to use another duplexor and run VHF/UHF signals to separate antenna input? Will that offer enough protection from stray signals you think if I transmit on Icom 7300?

I've had a RSPdx for a couple years, love it. Lately I've been thinking about getting a Duo as well, and running 2 RSP servers with the Connect software. Should I be waiting for a similar hardware update for the Duo? Also, just a future idea, a Morse decoder module for Connect would be a cool feature.

I have an RSPdx and a Chinese 16-bit Dragonfly RX103. On shortwave, RSPdx is not worth half as much as Dragonfly. I use the RSPdx only in the VHF-UHf band. It's good there. Their software is overcomplicated and difficult to use. SDRConsole is better and much nicer. As they say: "Less is sometimes more!"

@@SDRplayRSP USB-B was released in 1996 I’m old enough to remember that as I was in the computer printer business 20+ years. Come on there’s ZERO reason for this legacy port. Hell many printers have moved on. It’s low data throughput, low power and hazardous ZERO reason to exist in a consumer device in 2024. That said I just ordered an RSPDX R2 but rather than resist and justify, listen to feedback. I know many people that will NOT buy a device that is not USB-C. I myself have over 90% of my devices on USB-C.
