Introducing The Markforged Metal X 3D Printer | The Complete Metal 3D Printing Solution
Ғылым және технология
Markforged announces a breakthrough technology for metal 3D printing. Based on our 4th generation composite 3D printing technology, the Metal X is a brand new kind of metal 3D printer. By printing metal powder bound in a plastic matrix, we've eliminated the safety risks associated with traditional metal 3D printing while enabling new features like closed-cell infill for reduced part weight and cost.
The Metal X is up to 10x less expensive than alternative metal additive manufacturing technologies - and up to a 100x less than traditional fabrication technologies like machining or casting. Our cloud-based 3D printer management software, built-in touchscreen interface, and automatic material tracking make the Metal X system the simplest way to manufacture metal parts.

This is pretty awesome, this will speed up prototyping metal parts!
Hello there!!! Your content is so inspiring💕💕
What a cool approach. You can also achieve a similar result by printing with a metal infused clay and sintering it in a kiln.

Won't the clay be left behind? I'm thinking here the plastic is vaporized and you are left with 100% metal.
I think there should be a law around being able to use the word affordable with your product.

Wait until China reverse engineers a better one and we can mail order one for 1000 times less this solution. $1000.00 to $5000.00.
The printed parts are only prototype worthy or can these parts be used as full production parts? Can an aluminum printed part from one of these be compared to like a CNC machined aluminum part?
@harrelsontrumpets

Yes, these parts can be used for full production in many cases. And yes, aluminum will be an option.
still waiting on a carbonfiber version big enough tho handle wheel sets for cars and motorcycles, rifle stocks, mountain bikeframes, etc
Wow 😳
if it can print thinner parts with strength and very smooth surface , I'll buy it definitely

If you have any specific questions regarding the Metal X please feel free to reach out to our sales team at sales@markforged.com
So the printed parts that come out of the machine have to be shipped to your facility for sintering ?
@harrelsontrumpets

You can sinter the parts yourself in a special oven.
Is there a UK distributor or any interest if there is not?

Hi @Rickysound. We do have resellers in the UK, however, we are always looking for more. Resellers can apply here: 3d.markforged.com/request-to-be-a-reseller.html
We were impressed by the video, looking forward to the next. We are a small 3D modeling software startup completely bootstrapped and tooks us 5 years to develop our real-time collaborative CAD.? Would be great if you had time to check our software SolidFace.
how much this printer please ? can i print aluminium ?
Hey guys, can you explain where is the value of your printer, and why does it cost $100,000? You are printing in metal infused plastic filament and then kiln sinthering it, that is possible with a $1000 desktop printer (lookup a product called filamet). Where is your added value? Also, why is that printer so big? Thanks, and best of luck.

Shachar Weis well most other metal printers cost over 500000 dollars so that's where the value comes from. and no one's done it yet so they want to make sure they can profit.

they plan to build some in future for 1,000 dollar ifn the market demands it. great podcast interview. techcrunch.com/2017/05/01/greg-mark-talks-about-the-future-of-3d-printing/ I wonder how accurate those shrinked parts are.
take a week to print a little thing? i dont know about that
Please tell me the cost of machine because i am interested in buying this machine..

markforged.com/ has everything there you need to know. It is an expensive machine to throw money at right now. Might have to wait until the process can cheaply be reproduced.

Why does it feel like I just watched an apple commercial?
"if you can afford a half million to a million buy one, for the rest of the world, this is for you" But.... its a $100k... that's cheaper, I guess but I don;t think you can properly say the "rest of the world" is your target market. even medium sized businesses, $5k is already kind of pricey. could just as well achieve the same with casting from a regular 3d print or printing a mold for wax reproductions and casting from those.
@harrelsontrumpets

A "medium" sized business has over 140 employees and can easily afford a $100k printer in most cases. Casting is a laborious process that is easily 10 times more expensive per part than using the Metal X.

Sorry, but people who can afford 100k on a printer most likely will buy the ones for 500k because they are much better. If we were talking 5k for that printer then maybe but 100k? LOL
@harrelsontrumpets

$100k seems very fair. Would you pay $100 for a nice meal to celebrate your anniversary? Or is $20 your limit?
@hankscorpio1953
6 жыл бұрын
but wait, there's more haha you'll need a washing bath and sintering station (furnace) also along with the printer. However, the metal infill is quite an advantage over traditional laser sintering which would fill the part with powder (more cost) and the bed size is quite generous, material costs when sintering large parts can be enormous so these parts can be made cheaper. It's just a new type of metal addative manufacturing, so it's going to be expensive for a while. Remember how much desktop 3d printers used to be?
