@@killianmagiera8407 I would temper your expectations until the reviews come in. They should have went with a lessen known, up and coming actress for the lead. It’s hard to not see Fantasia as Fantasia. Especially when she’s singing. I think this version will probably be enjoyed more by a younger audience, and those who have never seen the original.

Fantasia’s voice is so anointed. I get goosies every time she sings. They got some power house actors and actresses in this one. I can’t wait. Tamela Mann is my girl. ❤❤

Come on Harpo studios!!! You have done it again! I’m so emotional watching the trailer! Knowing the story and seeing these characters of our time play it out with some new music is freaking incredible. I’m going to see it Christmas Day!!!

This looks SO GOOD!!!! I saw the Broadway show twice and fell in love with this story all over again. I saw the movie as a preteen and read the book in high school and college. The actress playing young Celie looks just like Fantasia. It's uncanny. And the actor playing Mister looks just like Danny Glover. This piece brought me to tears. I find the original movie to be a bit traumatic although true to life. This one seems to have a lot more hope woven in.

Alice Walker should be so proud. The Color Purple and the powerful stories of these characters is forever. I can’t wait to see this in theatres.

I've read The Color Purple book by Alice Walker, I've watched The Color Purple movie by Steven Spielberg, back in the 80's but this version right here has a burst of energy and life that made my eyes well up with tears. I CAN NOT WAIT TO WATCH 🤩❤

When I was a preteen I saw this movie, I fell in love with it. It was phenomenal! This time it's being introduced to a whole new generation. Back then with all 11 nominations the Academy Awards didn't give the motion picture any Oscars. But this time it's gonna be taking everything! ❤❤❤🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾👍🏾🎉🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🎬🎭

Love the orginal (1985) version. I haven't seen the stage play. But I am here for this, I am so looking forward to this. And I can not wait.

Ahhhhhmazing film!!! Just saw this tonight!! The entire cast gave us a stellar performance. I never thought it could be done but this took me to a whole different level!!

I didn't think it could get any better, as a matter of fact, I was dismayed by the thought of a remake of the original. After seeing the trailer, my hope of redemption has been restored. This looks to be an upgrade to enhance the original, keeping the storyline intact and bringing it to another level. Well done! I am counting the days with anticipation.

UPDATE: I saw the Color Purple Movie...The Musical and it was every bit Fantastic. My daughter loved it as well. Then I saw it again and will see it again now that it is on MAX for free. Right out the gate with the church singing Praise and worship, Tamela Mann brought it home. Found myself rejoicing also, but most important was the message. The word of God says: Enter into his gates with thanksgiving and into his courts with Praise, I knew this was a story of faith. Celie, placed by Fantasia was born in harsh conditions. She never complained. The content of her character was above reproach. She did good to all she knew. Everyone did a wonderful job and Fantasia was the gift in this. A beautiful story. Excellent job!!!

Why it’s quite depressing

I hope it lives up to the hype! The original film is my favorite movie of all time, so I'm looking forward to see what Oprah does with it. The trailer is soooo good!! Ugh! I hope the movie is even better!

This looks very promising, I'm already in tears! Growing up as a West Indian kid in France, there wasn't a lot of black representation on tv or in movies casts to relate to at the time. I first saw the original movie, almost by accident on VHS when I was staying at a lady's house who had agreed to look after me while my mother was in a hospital for several weeks. I was feeling very low and homesick, and I really missed my mom. In an attempt to cheer me up, the lady decided to play a movie, knowing that my mother and I loved going to the cinema whenever we had a chance. I remember being sat on the floor with her kids, we were sharing a box of chocolate cookies. We were so excited to see a new movie! I wasn't expected anything like what I saw on the tiny little screen that day; we cried, we laugh and then cried some more. When the tape was over we wouldn't shut up about it. The story was empowering, the actors brillant. Seeing an (almost) entire black casting on screen, somehow made me feel seen, almost connected to a bigger community. Despite it being a fiction, watching the Color Purple made me realised that black people have History, that our stories were worth telling, which may sound stupid but which meant a lot at a time when I was going to school and my professors were only teaching us (meaning white of course but also Africans /Arabs /Asians /West Indians/ Spanish etc descendants) about the usual "our ancesters the Gauls" BS they would force feed us with.

I lost my mama one year ago and she and I loved the original, We talked about it all the time. It hurts my heart that she wasn’t here long enough to see this I know she would’ve been over joyed. I’ll make sure I bring my tissues be I know I’ll be in tears watching for the both of us.

I have seen the revival of the Broadway musical like 16x now.. half with Cynthia and the original cast and half with touring casts. Cast members became friends. I've traveled all over the country seeing it. I've taken groups of hundreds of others to see it. And I'll be seeing this a dozen times again.

I can't wait. My #1 Fantasia. I hope she'll win an Oscar, i hope they all do!!

Yes! I cannot wait to see it again. I saw a special screening last year here in Kansas City and was very pleased. Remakes usually suck! lol This, however does NOT! People get a chance to hear Taraji sing her tale off. Daniella as Mrs. Sophia was He-Larry-Us! Fantasia & Halle...all phenomenal! We BETTER see several Oscar nominations!

Just returned from seeing the musical movie. It was miraculously phenomenal! Standing on its own merits of perfection. The music, dancing, and acting were extraordinary. I highly recommend seeing this movie.❤

When my son was 11 he got a small role in the play. I was able to watch the rehearsals and the show several times. I am looking for to this movie. The soundtrack to the play is amazing. I’m glad to hear it in the movie this time.

The original of this will always be my favourite . The remake may be good but the actors and actresses in the first one had me really belive they went through what they acted . Theses actors and actresses really dont give that same era that same truth
