The Color Purple (1985) | Sisters Separated | Warner Bros. Entertainment
Ойын-сауық
It's about life. It's about love. It's about us.
Academy Award winner Whoopi Goldberg, Danny Glover and Oprah Winfrey star in director Steven Spielberg's adaptation of Alice Walker's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel The Color Purple.
From 1909 to 1949, Celie, a Southern Black woman, gradually gains self-respect as she strives to educate herself and to find love--despite an abusive spouse and a society biased against her race and her sex.

Why not?
Still heartbreaking. From what i see of the scene in the trailer for the new one, doesn't live up to this one.

They didn’t even try 🤦🏾♂️
In the behind the scenes, Spielberg told the actresses, Akousa and Desreta, 'Don't let go of each other; Fight to get back to each other.' and Danny was told 'Do everything to keep them apart.' The part where he hits their hands said was the worst feeling he got in that scene and had to take a minute after apologizing for hitting them. Don't know how many takes it took, but by the end, everyone was exhausted and upset. A powerful scene on screen and for the cast and crew to film.
Both sisters should of left

This is true both sisters should have left but the other one was afraid she was afraid of that man and that's why he kept her under his thumb until the end of the movie when she got brave

"should" and "could" are sadly two different concepts. celie "should" have left, but, "could" she? remember, the brain is the absolute most powerful prison you could be trapped in, and she was trained to be trapped in hers since she was tiny.
Robert J Freeman: [Sobbing] That's So Unbelievably Sad!
39 years have passed since this movie's release , and the story is still relevant 😢
Thank you to the new version for not being as traumatizing as this one. Still got the point across. This is a powerful scene, but once was enough.

I had a feeling the song that was supposed to play during that scene was cut with how it was raining.

Indeed Thank You Warner Bros. Entertainment
I never watched the movie but fun fact: This was the last movie directed by Steven Spielberg that wasn't composed by John Williams until Bridge of Spies in 2015, 30 years later
I got emotional, the acting is phenomenal. But so heartbreaking as well :(

Whats the name of the girl being chased? Is she still alive! I love her❤

Alex Trebek: This color ends in "urple." Keanu Reeves: I will venture a guess. Who is Jaleel White? Trebek: What? Reeves: Is that not the gentlemen who played Urple, the humorous fellow with the glasses who loves cheese? Alex Trebek: That’s Urkel!
