Well, the thing about Nitro is that they're nitrogenated, NOT carbonated. You aren't going to get that carbon fizz because there's simply no carbon to be had in them. I personally love it, for me it's a lot like drinking the soda in a root beer float.

The first and overwhelming volume of ingredient is carbonated water. I agree it has a very creamy mouth feel and should be compared to drinking an ice cream float. But there certainly is the normal amount of carbonated water in this drink.

If you have ever put Pepsi in ice cream, it’s literally like drinking the leftover soda once you’ve ate the ice cream. At least the vanilla version is like that

I really enjoyed the nitro Pepsi, i am not a soda drinker for the most part once o heard Pepsi was doing a draft soda instead of regular carbonation I wanted to try it. Pepsi wasn’t lying when they said it was easy to drink, I thoroughly enjoyed it, it doesn’t sit bad in your stomach and doesn’t make you bloated like most sodas do, I recommend trying this if you don’t like it that’s perfectly fine I for one will have another can, and I really like the idea as a whole of draft cola

I thought the same. It just tasted like flat Pepsi. I know some say there is a certain way to pour and drink it, but a soda shouldn't require a KZread video to explain how to make it taste good.

@@JasonMazurek Everyone I have spoken to says it HAS to be poured, when chilled to a certain point, in a tall enough glass, at the right angle (upside down) and has to be consumed within the right amount of time, not allowing it to sit long. Which is fine I guess, but the average shopper in Wal-Mart is NOT going to know any of this. They will drink it like you do a normal soda, decide it tastes flat, and never touch it again. It is creative, but I think Pepsi is trying to punch well above their class here.

@@michaeldodd6181 I see your point, but I do want to say a couple things: 1. The "instructions" are on the package and the can itself with pictures. I mean, if people can't figure out how to "properly" pour this thing, i would say that's on them, not Pepsi. 2. Out of curiosity, I tried one of them straight from the can, and it was rather pleasant. I think you don't get the "full experience" that way, but it was still a nice drink nonetheless.

Interesting. To me it just tastes like a cream soda. I guess my experience is that the flavor difference is more remarkable than the carbonation difference--though certainly it's there. It also kind of reminds me of the "unique" flavor of coca cola or pepsi ice-ees or flurries at movie theaters or 7-11s. Just a different experience is how I'd categorize it.

Cool review! I found them at my local Publix yesterday and got the vanilla one first and went back today and picked up a regular Pepsi pack to try it. I agree that the regular Pepsi flavor does taste like a flat Pepsi! As for the vanilla flavored one I think it’s really good and would get it again sometime.

You've got to hold it in one hand, open it with the other hand, and be ready to turn the can upside down immediately. By letting it sit there for a few seconds before you pour it you're letting it go flat.

Umm...No. This is flat soda, no matter how soon you pour it or drink it. Its just flat.....These are not made to be chugged.. It's just a gimmick from a company that is living off of their Mt.Dew line so they had to try something new to get people to drink Pepsi.

Tasted days old Pepsi, honestly I dont think Nitro works for cola, part of the appeal to soda is its carbonation, its what defines it. Nitrogen just doesnt bind as well with the water in the soda. This causes the nitro to rush out faster which actually is what creates the creamy foam with smaller bubbles. CO2 however, is more soluble and escapes at a slower rate, this provides the type of carbonation we expect from sodas. Guess they saw it work with nitro infused coffee (which has 0 carbonation) and nitro infused beers (which isn't defined by its carbonation) but with soda that's the defining characteristic, it not only provides the experience, in a lot of ways it provides the flavor profile too.

Definitely try it out yourself, we all have different taste preferences. There’s a lot of people who enjoys these drinks.

Two things, you should pour right away and not wait at all. And pour it upside down with nitro cold brew I actually let the can sit on the glass in my brain that keeps it from losing a lot of it. And it always comes out how it's supposed to. Now I know soda is different but I think it's the same rule of thumb.

First of I appreciate the feedback. I’ve been seeing this a lot in the comments that I did it wrong and that it effected the taste. I just tried it again a few minutes ago, chilled can…check, cracked it open all the way…check, stuck the can upside down in the glass to pour hard…check, drank immediately….check………..sadly no difference. Tasted the same, a smooth flat Pepsi. I get some will enjoy this, but most won’t.

Opening it on 3 stages kinda retains the carbonation. When I open it, I barely let air in. I wait for a second. I open it a little more, and let more air in, and then open the whole thing. Lemme know if this works.

Since i stopped drinking dark soda a year ago, I rarely drink soda and trying this, I thought it was flat tasting however I could still enjoy it. These would be great for mixed drinks/liquor bombs

I had the same reaction when I opened up my can of Nitro Pepsi. I was like " I KNOW i didn't shake this ... " then I doubted myself "Now did I shake it? lol "

I think a lot of the liking it or not, depends upon how much you like carbonation. I have never been a fan of highly carbonated drinks---I usually stir them to remove some of the carbonation, so I liked the fact that these drinks seemed "flatter". I am more of a Coke fan, but I give Pepsi credit for doing something different.

You know, people might be thinking its a fail because it's not as strong with the carbonation... for one. For one it's not supposed to be as harsh as soda, I just had the vanilla one and I for one REALLY enjoyed it, I feel regular soda is to harsh, and MAYBE they could up the carbonation just a bit... but I dont think its really all that flat, you kinda failed at "pouring it hard" as well.

The key is to get them cold almost frozen. I really like them. But if you want the strong carbonated effect you won’t like these. These are Creamy and sweet!

Ya I agree. I've had 3 the first 2 i literally almost froze. The first one actually turned into slush. It was ok the second one was perfect but it didn't make that noise maybe I had it to cold but I felt like it wasn't flat the 3rd want I had chilled not super cold and I dont like it at all

But I will say this doesn't taste "flat" in my honest opinion, but who knows maybe my liking of flat soda has influence on how I feel about this drink. I absolutely LOVED the vanilla flavored one. I literally chugged the fuck out of it. I hope they don't discontinue. The only downside to these is I drink them too fast lol

Been a lifelong Pepsi drinker, and though I wasn’t sure what to expect, I LOVED this. I tried the vanilla first and really enjoyed the differences though I was a little concerned it was flat too, as I paid more attention I could feel lit nitro bubbles. I’m definitely picking more of these up when I go to the store later

If you cut open the can, you'll see a weird and unusual plastic container at the inside bottom of the can. I assume it's where the Nitrogen is stored and it adheres to gravity and releases into the uncarbonated Pepsi, but you have to pour it literally UPSIDE DOWN like head to head, but for that you need a taller glass to avoid spillage. The thing inside the can supposed to infuse the flat Pepsi with Nitrogen as you pour it literally UPSIDE down. I assume the difference between carbon dioxide and nitrogen is that nitrogen makes the drink feel thicker because of much more smaller bubbles (like craft beer) and I guess with the smell and taste of Pepsi it also gives a creamy feel to it.

That's actually exactly what that is... Guinness has since adopted a similar design for the canning and bottling of their beer, but for years they used to use a different method to store the nitrogen and allow for a more draft-like pour. The design used a patented device they called a "widget", and initially it was a sort of cylindrical cone shaped device that would poke through the mouth of the can or bottle if turned upside down. After a few years they modified the design into a sphere shaped device for the cans while the bottles retained the cone (I'm pretty sure anyway, I'm going from memory here). They did abandon the floating widget concept for a short time in recent years, however they did announce they would be returning to the concept in 2021. I'm not sure if they have resumed using the widget since I hardly ever drink anymore and when I do it's when I'm out at a bar or out to eat or something, and if I'm ordering a Guinness it's almost assuredly going to be served on-tap rather than a bottle or can. The only a Guinness I still have in the fridge is from a couple years ago when they weren't using the floating widget. But anyway yeah, you're right on track with your train of thought there... Props to ya. Most people see the plastic bit and are completely and utterly stumped by it. I even had a friend who called PepsiCo Customer Care thinking that the plastic device in her can of Nitro Pepsi was some kind of defect, like a foreign object that somehow made it into her beverage during the canning process. I love that girl dearly but quite frankly she is not very bright... Lucky for her she's drop dead gorgeous and has been able to get by on her looks for most of her life, although to her credit she is at least rather self-aware in this regard and is usually the first to admit her shortcomings in an honest manner. Don't worry, I've never let her forget about her mistake here though 😅. I mean come on, the plastic device in the can is very clearly intended to be there based on the shape, texture, and design alone. I had to explain the purpose and function behind the design to her using only small words and a few visual aids, and I believe she understood eventually lol. Either that or she still had no clue what I was on about and she simply feigned comprehension in order to avoid looking like a dummy, or just to shut me up (if not both). In any case it's been my experience that a person tends to be at least somewhat intelligent, but in general *people* are often breathtakingly stupid and hopelessly ignorant. So it wouldn't surprise me to find out that there were many people out there who discovered the little plastic device in their cans only to be utterly baffled by it. It's just like all the people out there who buy the Nitro Pepsi and then proceed to piss and moan about it being "flat" 😂. Lol I mean honestly what did you expect??? This is chemistry 101 here people... Nitrogen gas is less soluble in liquid compared to darbon dioxide (CO²) and less acidic, resulting in less fizz and a more mellow, subtle creaminess. It's an entirely different texture and experience and doesn't create all of the bloat and discomfort typically associated with carbonated beverages. It doesn't always have to be an assault on one's senses in order to be good! We're not six years old anymore and we don't have to be consistently overstimulated in order to be entertained or content. Complaining that Nitro Pepsi is flat just seems childish to me, but whatever. Maybe I'm just being kinda snobby 😆.

Just had the vanilla flavored drafted and going in knowing it is a flat drink I’m actually impressed. The after taste is nice…it lingers, the smoothness is fun. It’s a sophisticated flat drink 😂 not for fizzy lovers. Fun and will enjoy another with a lunch sandwich tmrw 👍🏽 Compared to a chilled normal flat soda the draft has a more balanced drink and not a nasty flat.

I stay away from pop because of the burning sensation it gives my stomach- for that reason, I like nitro. This product might be to target non pop drinkers…

I've recently been having that problem with sodas and have to drink them in tiny sips because of this problem. So these nitro pepsis are a god send and it has the texture of a cold brew wich I love.

Idk mine was flat, or it tasted like it, if I found out it was flat I would definitely try again, but if it wasn't flat I wouldn't get it again, mine was way more foamy then when you poured yours out, but I think if I drank it straight from the can it would keep the carbination.

I just tried them today poured it "hard" and I also got a flat taste but if I poured it like a beer down the side of the glass on some ice it was way better and not flat tasting I definitely like them I got the regular ones haven't tried the vanilla

I tried the vanilla one and it had great taste and smooth.

Thing is. I love soda and the bubbliness and strong less smooth taste of drinking it. Nitro from the couple times I’ve drunk it I can see why people might like it. Especially people who don’t really like soda that much. Something I’m wondering is how it is with other drinks such as alcohol maybe even a root beer float. But to be honest yeah it’s like a flat soda. It’s not terrible just not for me.

Crazy thing is - that can is very deceiving. It looks bigger than a regular soda, but the Nitro can is thicker, but contains the same amount of fluid.

You're supposed to pour it hard immediately after opening, don't let it just stand still after opening it for 30 seconds.

there is a thing in the bottom of the can and idk what it is. also i thought it tasted awful as well.

The vanilla one is pretty good haven't tried the normal one but mine didn't fizz over the top but it makes thst sound because there is a little thing in the bottle that Infuses the nitrogen

I've tried it 3 times. I want to like it, but it does taste flat. I don't understand why this exists and why it's $2 a can. I bought 3 more... I saw a video out about opening it at a 45° angle over a glass. I'll try that, but I don't have high hopes.

Im not super into heavy carbonation and I love the smoothness so I feel like this was made for me. ITS SO GOOD. However I TOTALLY get how if you are super into carbonation it would be a deal breaker.

It’s like a soda version of the icee Coca-Cola. It’s more flat and doesn’t burn my throat and make my stomach upset if I drink it to fast. It tastes amazing.

Honestly my favorite soda! The vanilla one tastes like straight up melted vanilla ice cream with that delicious Pepsi taste infused. Plus, it’s not flat in my opinion, but it does have the mellow non-bloating factor which is great. Easy going down lol. And I truly feel refreshed drinking one on these 100+ degree days. Not all crappy like most regular sodas make me feel.

As someone who hates super carbonated drinks I loved the nitro vanilla. And I drank it room temp out of the can. Just saw it on the shelf in the grocery store and said neat and drank it on the way home.

It's flat soda. I took a sip and immediately poured it out.

My feelings are with the vid tasted flat but could be a nice drink for multi sport or in some other mixer

I hate a lot of fizz, so tbh this is right for me, the vanilla one tastes great out of the can when you dont pour

I didn't shake my either and had it sitting on the table for like 20 minutes after I took out of the fridge and I didn't do a half-open like you did. I cracked it open all the way. The damn thing exploded all over me and my bed, then started spewing like one of those volcano science projects you make in the 3rd grade. I quickly grabbed a cup (and a wet towel) and poured it hard, as per instructions. Somehow, in spite of all that, it still wasn't flat. It actually is a lot smoother. If you don't like soda because of the carbonation, you will probably like this. You know how soda makes your eyes water if you drink it too fast, from the bubbles? You can chug this bad boy all day long and not get that same effect although you may get one hell of a sugar rush if you do.

Tastes like flat pepsi. Saying someone is wrong about something they tasted doesn't make any sense . You can't be correct for another person's taste buds. It's flat pepsi. It even has an old Pepsi taste to it. Maybe they put out a bad batch or something but it's pretty unanimous that this didn't work out well.

I agree with you. I've had two today. I never drank regular Pepsi, then I made a big effort to get a local store to stock regular and vanilla Nitro Pepsi. It's the only sodas I drink.

Well it’s supposed to be a “softer” soft drink. So I guess that means flat…
