Introducing Our New Drag & Drive '70 Plymouth Satellite Project Car
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
No doubt that drag & drive races are some of the most popular events for car guys to enter these days. We at Mopar Connection Magazine are going to build up this recently purchased '70 Plymouth Satellite into a 11-second (or faster) B-body that can cruise at highways speeds reliably. Is it yet another "blue sky" goal? Watch and see.

Somebody is a MST3K fan!
I would call it "Out of Orbit" since it is a Satellite. Back in Tampa during the late 80s there was a Lime green 70 Road Runner that street raced. It was the fastest car for a long time. I love these 70s in that color. Can"t wait to watch the build.

Keep it old school with a 440 so someone can afford it. You can do low 10s with a 440. Done it many times. Screw that 3 gen crap. Everyone does that make it what we did back in the day and call it flashback.

@moparconnection ya well that's been done by several youtubers dead dodge garage did a challenger. Plus bring 50 grand to the party which is what it costs to do it. It's a wiring nightmare so make sure to tell people that it's not plug and play. Retro mod is losing its appeal unless your Uber wealthy. Which no one is anymore or like it was 4yrs ago. Countless projects here have all stopped and cars picked up and put away on the someday list. KZread channels make it look like it's a 4hr job and more like 4 weeks all day everyday. Just not realistic then guys are pissed when they bring in a car to get done and it costs a ton and it takes longer that 30min lol

How about "Sat-A-Lot Satellite" ? Get some AMD parts... (All Most Done)! Funny thing... I started out with a 1969 Charger 318 in my teens...ended up 3 chargers later and in my 60's with an all black 572 Hemi 1969 charger that went for $249K at Vanguard motors in Detroit when I was done. I'm sure it will look great when you guys are done either way!👍

Absolutely Not a problem: "MOP and GO"!!!! ( "MOP" (said as =mope or add the "e" if you need to), "and" should be in small letters. GO= because of course it will!!!) It will fit on any door or even a C pillar, You already can not forget it. Short and sweet! If it will be "streetable" a pair of the shortest 3" or 4" DELTA 40's underneath - (& no stink'n tail pipes necessary) so the acres of on-lookers around it can feel the ground shake. By the way It might be a good idea to paint it FM3 - accented in black (FM3= the most feared color in Ma's paint basket). Want to see it DONE! look at the avatar can send a few more pictures it you need them. Just to give you an idea. Mines kind of mild, no power adders just a RB Block (493 cubes), 689HP & 675FtLbs. 4.11's, and a 727! Scary what "OLD FARTS KNOW" ain't it! Holley's got out a single plane intake that can go EFI or carb, that could be an option. Not all us OGs are hip on EFI. Hellcats are NOT budget friendly! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
@moparconnection
4 ай бұрын
1. We never said this was a budget build; 2. Used Hellcats (from wrecked cars) go for $10 to $12K (with harnesses); 3. The average cost of a 700+ HP wedge or Hemi is close to $15K and won't get us the kind of MPG that this car needs on the highway. So yes, the Hellcat is 100% the best option for this build.
I hope you bought it cheap, like under $500. Back in the day, we would crush these cars in this condition.
@moparconnection

Add a zero to that number, Craig. The old boys already hoarded up the solid cars and all of us under 50 years old are left with what's left.

I saw "out of orbit" mentioned previously, but shorten it to "Outta Orbit". I also saw "hellcatellite" mentioned previously. Shorten that to "Cat-Tellite". "Orbitron" would have satellite implications as well.
I hope you don't have that big bundle of wires and computers stuffed in the trunk like General Mayhem did. That was obscene!! Do it right and start from scratch, and leave out the steering column from the donor car. Give it a nice paint job too! Something to be proud of. Tired of seeing clapped out cars!
