In this video, Dr. Berg talks about how to transition from breast milk to actual food. It is ideal to breastfeed for at least one year or longer. What the mother consumes two years before they become pregnant is really important.
Key Foods for the Mother:
• Plant-Based Trace Minerals
• Nutritional Yeast
• Fat-Soluble Vitamins
• Cod Liver Oil
• High-Quality Meats
• Eggs
Few reminders before introducing foods to babies:
• The digestive system of babies is not developed yet, so you have to go slowly and watch for any reactions.
• Babies don’t yet have the normal flora in the gut.
• Infant produces a good amount of lactase, an enzyme to break down lactose or milk sugar.
• Avoid cereal and grains because it is going to block minerals and is refined carbohydrates.
4 months: Egg Yolk, Cod Liver Oil
6 months: Pureed Meat (grass-fed), Avocado
6 to 8 months: Carrots, Beets, Sweet Potato, Butter, Kefir
8 months: Vegetable Soup, Stew, Cottage Cheese
1-year-old: Nuts, Seeds, Vegetable, Whole Egg

I love these kinds of videos! 👍 I started giving my daughter cod liver oil right away too and she also LOVED it! She always takes it straight, and would tackle me for it! She's 4 1/2 now and still takes it every day, and still loves it the same! She asks me for her vitamins when I forget, lol! Her first food was avocado at 7 months old. (She had NO grains, and only soaked and dehydrated nuts and seeds in her first 3 years). I breastfed her for 3 1/2 years. She's beautiful, healthy, smart, sweet and has perfect teeth! ❤ I've been following Weston A Price since 2009! I love his work, and fit it and keto together and love it! I would recommend the book Super Nutrition for Babies (by Katherine Erlich and Kelly Genzlinger) to anyone transitioning their baby to solid food. It follows along with Weston A Price, and has the milk formula recipe Dr Berg was talking about. It talks about no grains for babies since they don't have the digestive enzymes required to break them down til 2 years old (or 3, I can't remember). It talks about egg yolk, cod liver oil, and beef liver as first foods, and has a full month by month of what to give them, and recipes too. 👍 (I have a 5 1/2 month old baby now! Excited to start giving him food! He wants it sooo bad! Excited to see his reactions are!) 😁 Thank you again for videos like this! You're awesome Dr. Berg! ❤ Have a great day everyone! 💕

Sarah Dahl hello! I just started feeding my baby boy (who is also only breast fed) at 6 months and 1 week old! His first food was mashed organic avocado. About a week later I gave him our chickens egg yolk (from a sunny side up egg, and a little of the cooked yolk too). I was going to give him cod liver oil next. I also buy the canned cod livers that Dr Berg suggested in a video, and was going to give him that soon as well. I have the Dropi brand of extra virgin cod liver oil in capsules and was going to open one up to put on his tongue, also when I eat the canned livers I'll just mash him up some. Just be very careful that they don't aspirate it (breathe it in) since it's an oil. I've never had an issue with my daughter. And she loves it straight, no chaser at all! So far he started eating at 6 months and 1 week old, has eaten 6 times total. Organic avocado 4 times, and homegrown silkie chickens egg yolk 2 times in these last 2 weeks! 😁👍 Good luck! And congratulations on your new baby! ❤

Sarah Dahl hi! I just wanted to mention! I started giving my son the Dropi brand cod liver oil (at 6 months and 2 1/2 weeks old) (and occasionally the cod liver oil, and the liver, out of the canned cod livers too). He's had it 9 times by now. He's almost 7 1/2 months old. I wanted to mention, that book I suggested, said not to feed babies the oil straight. They suggested mixing it with Mother's milk. So be aware of that when you give it to your little one! I give it to him very slowly. I bite a tiny hole and squeeze it onto his tongue over and over, (like I said, Very Slowly). I don't mix it with anything. He smiles over and over, and Loves it, and tries to get it from me each time! It's one of his favorite things I give him!💕🐟 He's also had salmon eggs now too, and loved it, (at the Sushi restaurant)! 😁 Good luck! ❤😄🐟

As a mom who has been through a lot and seen the differences around the world and raised kids and dogs with issues food is so important. The problem that is the biggest problem is around ages 7+ as they start to go through changes. Be involved with folks that share and support your way of life and have them learn to connect the dots not that Mom is just saying so, so they do not destroy themselves when they slowly start to deal with the world because it will happen on some level. Also beware of anything not natural, drugs, vaccines and especially anything that affects the immune system like chemicals, poor water and birth control. I am not against western medicine it just she be used frugally and as necessary and then live the lifestyle to live well healthfully and embrace our fertility it is the best way to have good health. Food is not enough, prayers to your journey and share it others need the inspiration. Blessings.

Dr Berg your help would mean the world to me! I have twins and no matter hard I try meeting with lactation consultants, doing everything they say, they weren't gaining. I ended up using donor milk along with nursing ALL the time to get them this far (4.5 months) the milk has been tapering off as my friends stopped pumping, but I saw this video and have been using somewhat of the Weston price formula recipe, but with kefir instead of the raw milk, whey protein , lactose, and cream. All the other ingredients I use and make it with kefir instead of milk as it's hard to get raw milk. Is this ok? To use kefir at age 4.5 months? The dr said they would start bleeding in their stools if I did this. But I can't bring myself to use even organic formula as I don't know what all the ingredients are. Please give me your opinion? Am I hurting them so much that they will bleed? It's only supplementing my breast milk, not the only thing I feed them. Thank you for any advice

There is also lipase in breastmilk which helps the baby break down the fat. I never gave my children anything until they reached for food - definitely NOT at 4 months. They were approx 6-7 months when they reached for food. I never bought them anything that is marketed to children but let them experience the with the food off of my plate which is usually tons of vegetables and fish, eggs, avocado. My kids tried regular food like Indian, Italian etc and the three of them to this day don’t expect terrible kids menu junk like Mac n cheese. They eat regular food just like us. I don’t recommend only giving them special food and instead teaching them to eat normally so they understand how to eat a variety of colors and textures.

This is very good video! I am Paleo and let my babies to wean themselves. My younger one suffered from terrible silent reflux. It was very frustrating for all the family, and also my lactation consultant. I haven’t have anything acidic for 6 months because of fear to make reflux worse. When she weaned, first thing she went for was sourkraut. Still likes acidic food. Can you please make a video on baby reflux? Tried to contact you on Facebook about that, but just got automatised reply. I am still in reflux group, and many moms would like to see your video on that issue.

I at least knew enough to know the importance of vegetables. I read everything and talked to everyone I could about it and this was the best I could come up with then. I did the best I could with what I had to work with. I am thankful that someday my children will be able to do better with their babies.

Dr. Berg please answer this question. the homemade baby formula recipe from the link you provided Doesn't seem practical. I dont think this is ideal for some mothers. Some of the Ingredients may be too hard to find or too costly. And some mothers just dont have the time. What would you recommend infants drink if the mother cant produce enough breastmilk or if a bsby is being raised by a non biological mother??

Back 25 years ago in the UK, we were encouraged to stop Breastfeeding at 12 months old, & the Follow on milks had some pretty gross ingredients in, not sure if they've improved now. I stopped feeding both my kids when the inevitable happened. TEETH. Lol. I craved eggs with my first pregnancy, & oranges with my second. The only tip my Midwife gave me was to drink water when the baby drinks, so you don't dehydrate yourself. I have no idea why I'm telling you all this. Lol. Thank you for sharing, & take care. 👼❤🙂🐶

@@japonicaren OMG that's just dreadful. And also a pretty good indicator as to why Breastfeeding isn't as actively encouraged, as it should be. Money as usual. They're getting babies totally hooked on sugar at a very early age, & poisoning them twice in the process, it's death by a thousand cuts. Thanks for the info. Take care. ❤🙂🐶
