Nice Model and a great review. My only complaint is the ride height still looks a little too high. I've taken numerous pictures of these and there shouldn't be an air gap between the top of the truck side frames and the bottom of the frame. It appears to only be visible at certain angles on the model. Not a deal breaker for me. We are model railroaders and this is something that can be fixed.
@hotrail8295

The air gap is because the real SD60Fs have traction motor blower baffles above the traction motors/truck side frames that fill the air gap. The Aurora SD60F sits at the proper height from all other indications.

Yes. In my mind, It doesnt look cool.It actually looks like it is a decoder fry up, which is not unusual. Nice model, here, tho. Thanks for the vid. Awsome scenery. Regards Michael NZ
Great looking and performing locomotive👍
The spinning radiator fans. CRAZY!!!
Amazed by the spinning fans, I wonder if that is a vibration design or motor driven? The layout is incredible.
Wow! Those fans are amazing!
Cool vid! I’m starting my own model railroad soon, and I’ve got my line I’m modeling
Those trucks look great.
Wow...what a nice locomotive!
Seperti kereta sungguhan 😍👍
I can’t wait to see these on the shelf of my local hobby shop, Lombard Hobbies
I didn't expect the trains to be that big. there huge to what i had in mind
Wow that is Epic... Subscribed

Not Marker lights... CN (an CP) called them Class Lights in the 1980s Great video
Wonderful detail. 👍👍
Super beautiful models
I forgot the name, I think is called "Class Lights, you have set for the rear of the train, It should be either white or green. And I think CNR is the only class railroad that still uses them
Very nice, thank you.
Tolles Video einer besonderen Lok, die in Deutschland unbekannt ist.👍👍👍 Kind regards, Toni
Hi , Im not an HO modeler (N scaler) , but the features on this is what I think all Gauge modelers have been dreaming of , the Working fans is just Wow, Aurora is setting a new bar for the industry as a whole. Dose anyone have any Idea on how many " standard 50 foot cars" one of these Aurora locomotives can pull on the level... thank you. Great video, as always. Cheers.
Amazing detail
Wow, great loco!
Those trucks look amazing without the clunky gear box behind them.
A real added feature is step lights. This has raised the bar.
Awesome locomotive, I actually use the mini R/C helicopter or 1:87 scale car motors to do the functional radiator fans. Dont really do it much, maybe a few handfuls of my models now have functional fans, along with sound & lighting too. Would love to see more models or drop-in installs for functional radiator fans, keep up with the layout, locomotive projects, etc and amazing SD60F!! BTW, any chance to see the working or construction of how the inside is setup with the built-in fans, wired to decoder, or any other custom or modifications for those who are curious or would like to install their own custom futures for radiator fans??
Sd50f on the way as well
Every one is going crazy about this locomotive
Nice locomotive 👍
I have a couple Proto 2000's that have working Radiator Fans. Scale Trains GTEL has a working Exhaust fan on the turbine. The only first I see is maybe the actual step lights. But its still a fantastic model!

This is the first factory-produced mass production locomotive in HO with *three* spinning fans. I'm a fan! LOL
i want one of these now
Aurora is here to COMPETE
The SD60f still in the container in Canada , we should see it very soon
I remember long, long ago there was talk of using mini motors small enough to mount on the truck similar to the prototype. I'm betting with today's technology and 3D it wouldn't be long to see an HO model with working trucks.
God damn the turbines turn…need to buy now lol
Not the first time we've seen spinning radiator fans, but is the first time we've seen it in DCC here in the states Can't help but notice a wobble as it runs, but otherwise a gorgeous model Who made it's mate there? I don't recognize it
A link to manufacturer would be handy. It's sooo much work to look it up for myself! 🙂
Looks killer man! Although May I recommend when airbrush weathering the engine be running in place. Otherwise, you end up with what is seen at 6:30 where half the wheel is dirty and the other half is nickel silver. Otherwise, it looks great.
Otter Valley Railroad might a few left to buy
Crew figures can be added ? thanks for the update, Beautiful detail.
Back in the 60s snd 70s they had a n scale train products called POSTAGE STAMPS besides their ho scale model motoring slot cars
You should use a small drone and do aerial video of the layout, that would look really cool!
Great! Video, Josh, and family. I'm just going to mention that this model also has momentum for dead spots on tracks and fan momentum. Does anyone know if we can expect working fans on Aurora Minitures plans for the GE - U36C-7's/ U-Boats? Thanks again, Josh. This is a very good New Year sign. P.S. I'm an owner of 2 undecorated Overland Models brass SD60F 's. I wonder if they would trade me for these new versions? 🤔 😆 I should be so lucky. I do like my brass though. What a layout!!! You have.

The Aurora model does not have a current continuation capacitor that would allow for uninterrupted operation over dead/dirty spots on tracks, though I'd probably imagine there might be room for an ESU Power Pack somewhere inside that large expanse of a hood.

@hotrail yes, at 2:57 of this video I have included, you will see the "Keep Alive" capacity feature of this locomotive. kzread.info/dash/bejne/noCWx66DdMTJZdI.html
Any motor noise from the radiator fans? Seen a few videos of motor noise louder than the prime mover. Also heard rumblings the sounds are too quiet/speaker not adequate? Any input?
2:02 I think it's actually pronounced "LOHK-Sound," if I remember right.
Lombard is great!
My goodness! I’ve never seen any producer go this far!!! The rotating fans, and the dash gauges are the best part. Wishing more companies would look into that. Unbelievable. The only time I remember seeing rotating fans was in O gauge on a Lionel set. Hopefully they get into more USA engines. Would love to see how they do on SD70ACe or 70M diesels if ever possible. Also, May I ask where the defect detector audio is coming from? Did you guys build that in the layout or do you just have a broadcaster going?

We have defect detector sounds built into our layout.

@@tomclark4654 sweet! Can you guys possibly do a tutorial on it? If the trains actually run across and trip it, that would be great. I would love to fit a Union Pacific detector in my layout.

To tell you the truth, I will have to ask Josh. It's been on the layout so long that I can't remember, but I believe it is activated by the occupancy detector through the Digitrax system and the JMRI program running the dispatchers panel. As far as I know all the I R. detectors are for railroad crossings. But I'll ask Josh the next time I talk to him. Tom

@@tomclark4654 that sounds good. Thanks! That would be a cool idea to incorporate into my future layout.
Can't imagine the name AURORA being used without a LOT of copyright grief. Great product, good luck with the brand name...... AURORA Plastics was around for many decades ...... since March of 1950. Guess what they made.....
Great video! Sure beats Athearn!!
I'm waiting for a diesel loco with smoke from the exhaust stack.
Still my dream locomotive. I'm so upset I messed out on it......
Other than the engine horn, all I hear is the GE bucket of bolts behind it... So what did this engine cost?
My model is in the mail from Spring Creek Trains
The box looked like it’d cost 50$ retail alone. Really nice model and packaging. Sure wish small steam would get more attention from manufacturers,
@hotrail8295

The trouble with small steam is that it costs 97% as much to develop and manufacture as a Big Boy or other large steam engine, and as a result will cost nearly as much as a Big Boy when it hits the stores. So manufacturers say "no one will buy small steam when it costs almost as much as a Big Boy". Are they right? Would you pay $600+ for a good plastic 2-8-0 or 2-8-2?

@@hotrail8295 man. If Bachmann can do it. They all can do it.
How do you put a smoke unit in one? I heard you can put one in
And the cherry on top , rapido is re doing the c40-8m
Who makes the BC Rail 4601 model in the video? thanks !
On Face Book some discussion on Problem with unsteady speed reported by some owners at mid to upper speeds. Have you encountered any problems. I have two on order and run at lower speeds which I think is more prototypical on most club layouts.
Had the model been run in? The movement of the train looked a little sluggish, might have been due to moving with the train during filming. It might have been nice to see the diagrams, kinda worried about how easy or difficult driveline maintenance is with the traction motor detail.
Very very impressive! what other manufacturer offers fan blades that spins on a diesel locomotive scale trains doesn't do it. Scale trains is the only one that provides it keep alive in it. I would have to say it's probably a $300 plus locomotive.
What size automobiles do you use in your layout?
@tomclark4654
Жыл бұрын
HO scale.
how heavy do they feel compared to others who've made the SD60, such as genesis or kato? How is their pulling power?
That is one impressive engine. To bad not N Scale too
Some are reporting running issues potentially related to the truck design. Aurora has provided some comments in response. Perhaps less concerning but also noted, some have reported mechanical noise levels related to the animated fans. Any comments Josh? Thanks.
It would be pretty easy to fix it up into Aberdeen Carolina Western RR engines since they never painted them they just put ACWR on them
where can i buy this
Nice Canadian engine. Was CN the only railroad to use this engine?
You should do a train roster again
Nice Model and a great review. My only complaint is the ride height still looks a little too high. I've taken numerous pictures of these and there shouldn't be an air gap between the top of the truck side frames and the bottom of the frame. It appears to only be visible at certain angles on the model. Not a deal breaker for me. We are model railroaders and this is something that can be fixed.
@hotrail8295

The air gap is because the real SD60Fs have traction motor blower baffles above the traction motors/truck side frames that fill the air gap. The Aurora SD60F sits at the proper height from all other indications.
