    Thank you for these 880 plus videos. I've sewn on Bernina for 30 years and now own 7 Berninas (4 sewing machines, 2 sergers, and a Q20 sit-down quilter). But this 880 plus is a little different! In these days of covid I'm watching a lot of videos to reinforce what I learn from my Bernina dealer. Your videos are very helpful!

    Gayle - I am very glad I found your video. You are easy to understand and show just the right amount of detail. Without going into my details, I thought I had a real bargain when I paid cash to someone I didn't know for this machine. After all, I have had several Berninas in the past 30 years so I shouldn't need any help learning this one, right? WRONG!! Whoever thought what a challenge a bobbin could be! I had wanted this machine for a long time. It had so many great features! But none of them were great when you can't get your bobbin to work. Or understand all those blinking red lights. But this video has saved my life. I've been spending 3 to 4 nights a week staring at this thing trying to understand how to make it happy with me. I think this is going to do it. Thanks ago for using the internet to get your message out. And allowing me to SEW

    Thank you, Gayle, for a very helpful video. I learned some important things I hadn't known from any other video. One question though...when threading the machine, does the thread go in front of the little metal tab (toward the front of the machine) or behind it (toward the back of the machine)????

  • @BERNINAofNaperville

    @BERNINAofNaperville

    3 жыл бұрын

    I always put it in front but it doesn’t matter. Only when you are using a twin needle. If using a twin needle one thread goes in front and one goes behind.

    The Bernina 880 manual says to wind the thread around the bobbin one or two times, rather than about five times, as you recommended for winding the bobbin. Is your method an upgrade for the 880 plus, or just an irrelevant detail?

  • @BERNINAofNaperville

    In my experience of sewing with the 7 series for over 15 years, wrapping a few extra times prevents it slipping out of the bobbin with slippery thread.

    Hello Gayle. I'm so pleased I came across yr video and I've now subscribed. I've just purchased my 880+ and managing the different threading issue. Yesterday, I did a text run of an embroidered (small size) label for a quilt. Looked great, however I was under the impression that when embroidering, the bobbin thread should be dominant on the reverse and NOT the top thread? On my test the TOP thread was dominant on both the top and bottom! So, my question is is that corrected if not, then which tension do I need to alter ?? Thank you so much for any information.

    The BERNINA 880 Plus has a few more embroidery features such as shape maker, Thread Away and Pin Point placement. In addition it has more built in embroidery designs, Enhanced Editing with undo, redo, Group and ungroup and rearrange. Also it Reads most popular file formats: EXP, DST, PES, JEF, PCS, SEW, XXX. @@BERNINAofNaperville so it is just an upgrade to the embroidery module itself? Or it firmware within the machine? I am mainly a quilter and want the 880 model really for the 12" throat space but an embroidery module where I could do some semi-custom in the hoop quilting would be nice too. I came across a GREAT deal on an 880 that was purchased about 3 years ago with very little stitch time/count.

    @@mxracer158 make sure that it is indeed a plus model. The 125th anniversary edition 880 Plus was indeed a plus model. A regular 880 does not have the plus features unless it was upgraded when that window of opportunity was available. A BERNINA Dealer can read information from an 880 to interpret whether or not it has been updated to plus.
