    One thing INTPs are good at is arguing and debating, but small talk? Not so much...

  • @PowerRedBullTypology

    @PowerRedBullTypology

    Agree!! That's why I find it harder to talk in a (small) group of people than with an individual, because with a (small) group they pretty much dictate the topic, while in a 1 on 1 setting you can just go for depth, and most people actually lke it. A lot of people like to have their thoughts 'sorted out '

    I partly disagree. Don't forget the “P” stands for perceiving, instead of “J” for judging. INTPs typically don't judge things, so they don't just directly fight or argue somebody. But when they realize you are making a point that is deviating from the fact, they will straightly point it out (just like what I am doing, and you bet it, I am an INTP :P )

    Think how it is for those of us that love writing stories. We start and 2 hours later we haven't even reached our initial goal because we end up going on a tangent in world construction and over-focusing on certain details waaaayyy more than we should. Seriously, I accidentally wrote an *almost* academical worthy science-y paper where I was only intending to give an overview of what scientists in a story found out in his research. XD It is frustrating to start writing and end up with text 5-6 times longer than it needs to be, simply because you went overly analytical into certain parts. When editing it hurts so much to cut away that fat as well. It may be dry as all hell and not push the story forwards at all, but it *is* going more in-depth into the world so it hurts a lot to cut it away.

    I think the anxiety or uncomfortably that comes with being at the center of attention of groups comes from fears that people wont understand what you are saying or wont engage with the conversation with the same amount of genuineness. I'm sure people mean well but when they act confused (not genuinely confused at the concept just puzzled at why you think that way) or glib it's really disheartening. INTPs can be great at 1 on 1 conversation though, especially when the other person is as invested in the conversation as much as you are and mutual respect is already established

    @@Kegare_ This is why I find MBTI overall to be outdated in terms of Jungian Psychology. Jung's cognitive functions were meant to show the underlying patterns behind plethoric traits found in people and not much else, but others overdo it. Harry from Cognitive Personality Theory is one of my favorite Jungian theorists on KZread because his system seeks out cognitive patterns instead of behavioral patterns, and make way for a lot of cognitive overlap. An INFP can switch out Fi for Ti, but it's on a far more limbic level than a cerebral, thinking level, while INTPs dip into Fi using a cerebral mindset.

    I see it as a test that evaluates your personality and places into a category you fit best. It isn't 100% accurate and the categories aren't something set in stone. It is quite literally a quiz that generalizes people. And i think its all fine and dandy if you understand whilst you may fall under this personality you're still an individual. Though when you move backwards to fit yourself into a category that's never good.

    The problem with Ti is that anything outside of its in depth models can barely comprehend it, at least unless INTPs gain an interest in it and assimilate it. I think that's where poor communication and recollection comes in. We know nothing about it, we don't care or want to explain it, so we just haphazardly table in hopes of not screwing the pooch too horribly.

    Cérany, I have adopted that perspective, too. Some folks become masters at one or two things, while others develop and explore many hobbies/interests over time. Neither is better than the others. I am learning now to be more conservative in how much money I spend on a new hobby or interest because I do not always stick with that interest once I discover another one. I think on the whole, at least in the U.S. ( based on my experience and observation), mastery of skills/hobbies, is valued over exploring and trying a wide range of possible interests. There are gifts of exploring and trying lots of topics.

    This. Holy shit I've found my people. I've accepted myself fully and REFUSE to stop being my child-like authentic self 24/7 because of futile societal norms only meant to keep people in place. The part that sucks is when people think I'm incapable of being mature when talking about deep subjects I care about. Because I always show myself as "silly" and "goofy," it's almost as if they see me as inferior or something? I remember a vivid moment when I finished a session with my therapist and told my close friends that she said I'm exceptionally mature, mentally, for my age and they just went, "Woaaah, really? No way I don't see it!" It was a small moment but it honestly crushed my view of how they really percieve me. It's great when you accept yourself, but man it's so awful being the odd one out inside AND outside.

    Intps often are also asperger. Being hypersensitive to light and noises are other signs of asperger. I would suggest to get diagnosed. I discovered I am asperger as an adult. Not that it changes your life but you learn to be more gentle to yourself and not demand too much to your body

However, recently I realized that I can speak English frequently when I explain some facts based very logically and really love to write in texts. It was not the issue of English skills, but my style how to compose speech due to INTP lol

    I think for some intp females our unemotional nature is confusing for many due to the population of women who are feelers by nature that it has caused us to become distant and antisocial. I get in the intp hole if you will and it is difficult for many to understand our logic based minds and the way we go about in life. I have always gone out of my way to work from home due to not wanting to be around others unless necessary....in that case I can put on a happy face do what I need to do. I can be social but it is forced. Many of us like myself have been judged for not being a sterotypical woman.....being misunderstood is hard for many female intps at least the ones I have spoken with reguarding this.

    Is Kevin Smith an INTP? If you watch the video "An evening with Kevin Smith" and the way he speaks about this director this odd director that he met, He ended up not working on the project with him in the end, but he did say that he was glad to have been able to hang out with a strange guy and that he'll be "Able to tell stories about him for the rest of his life." That struck me as a very INTP comment. Like he found entertainment value in that interaction not any social reward. I'll talk to people sometimes just to see if they'll say something crazy or funny. And when he went to film school he only did a few months of it and dropped out and learned all he needed to know and went off and essentially invented a unique and Innovative way of filmmaking.
