    It's not beef. It's just me asking him to make a fair & honest assessment. The lioness just got uptight. Maybe it's his PMS.

    Great interview, LR! Gonna' have to watch this one again. A lot of good info for up and coming animators/Creators. Agree with you on everything. "I can't stand Bob's Burgers." LOL.

    Black or White, I think the only thing that matters is if the narrative is told effectively. And if the goal is humor, it's gotta be funny. I think we all agree that Darth Vader is effective because he's the quintessential villain in a melodrama. Cleveland is a caricature of a beer-bellied American who's race is incidental to his misadventures on the show. And like you said, Cleveland can't help that Seth McFarlane does his voice. It's more about Cleveland being funny than him being pastiche.

    Exactly. And the thing is, I LOVE The Cleveland show. Why? Because it's a show with black characters. It makes it so much more refreshing. It's not a race thing. It's just the fact that it's a different angle on an animated show. That's why I love Jay's Life. They could make a show about a Filipino family and it would be great, because it's not another stereotypical "white" show. I love all people and all cultures. That's why I love seeing comedy from different points of views.

    I didn't know Sanna Lathan, Kevin Michael Richardson & Reagan Gomez-Preston were White. I didn't know that every joke on the show was about race either. Thanks for clearing that up.

    Last thing, I will be blocking you. I just don't like negativity like this that took me away from patients to comment to someone about what "I" like or dislike.

    Nice interview. I can relate to the animation process not being fun. As LR said, it's all about the end result. Continued success to you L.R. Sorry, but this whole KZread beef in the comment section has me cracking up.

    Dude do we really need to name writers on the Cleveland Show? Your comment was only about actors. No where did you even speak on the race but please tell me if Kirker Butler,Aaron Lee, Jonathan Green, Gabe Miller, Matt Murray, Kevin Biggins, Travis Bowe, Courtney Lilly, Chadd Gindin, Bill Oakley, John Viener, Dave Jeser, Matt Silverstein and lets not forget Seth MacFarlane and Mike Henry. Don't worry I'll wait and I think this makes my point on the reason I don't watch it. Oh and there's more.

    I probably never should have put The Cleveland Show and Jay's life in the same sentence, or rather paragraph. Jay's Life is a show depicting black culture, TCS is not. My bad. We got sidetracked, we were supposed to be discussing our hatred of Bob's Burgers, lol.

    Don't sit up here trying to talk down to me man. I said I don't watch The Cleveland Show and I can't watch that shit. That's my opinion and won't change. That's the thing about me and you. I'm me and you're you. So do you and kick rocks.

    As for me taking you away from patients, I'm not sure how I managed to do that. I'm in Denver. You're in Carolina (I think). You forfeited your own self-actuation to argue. I didn't take you away from anything. To thine own self be true. Peace.

    Julius Sharpe isn't White. Neither is Aseem Batra. Maher Setri isn't White either. I mentioned the actors because I doubt they'd do the episode if they found the script offensive. My ability to read & cognate is bar none. I guess yours comes up short because my comment wasn't all about the actors. In any case, the fact that there are writers & at least 1 director (Ron Rubio isn't White) on the show who aren't White negates your comment. Well played, Lion-O. Well played. Well played Lionel.

    You tell me. I'm white. I grew up in a black neighborhood. My best childhood friend growing up was black. But I'm not going to pretend to know what shows black people consider authentic and which they don't. I like The Cleveland Show. It makes me laugh. But who cares. It's a silly cartoon. And I like Jay's Life. But there's a clear difference in tone between the two. Who cares if JL has people selling drugs, committing murders, or taking advantage of the Government. It's called drama.

    Oh, that's right. Mike sure does. My bad. Given that fact, it only furthers my point. The actors do develop the characters but voice actors can only go so far with that. I won't say much else because it looks like Lionel got his panties in a knot (like he often does) & I don't want to be the reason he cuts off your access to him. He went so far as to block me. That was bitch shit but hey, that's life sometimes.

    So a Blackman raising his family isn't Black culture but Jay dealing drugs (in the reboot) or Jay being awarded a cartoonish (pun intended) sum of money bt the gov't is? Cleveland junior going through the ups & downs of adolescence isn't a "Black thing" but Jay killing other Blackmen to get to his own father who's extorting him IS Black culture? Drizzy being a thug is Black culture but Robert & Donna being attractive Blackwomen isn't Black culrure? Should I continue?

    So you're blocking me for negativity or for having a different point of view? Again, don't make up reasons. I didn't say anything negative to you. I said I didn't think you were being honest. But g'head, Do what makes you feel better. Good day sir.

    Well if every show ain't about race, you can't say the whole show is Blackfaced. It means you feel a certain type of way about some of the gags. And I've no problem with that. It's the blanket fallacies that I can't handle. Also, you're presuming that I'm not reading what you've published, I guess we've a bit of an information deficit there because I accused you of the same thing. As a remedy, I'll take another look, You do the same. Good day, Janaharobi; er, Lion-O.

  • @upabittoolate
    @upabittoolate11 жыл бұрын

    Yes. We really DO know the names of the writers. This IS the information superhighway. I like how you omitted the non-White writers. That was very dishonest. Also, my comment wasn't only about the actors. "I didn't know every joke was about ace either". Get your reading game up. Don't watch it for whatever reason you see fit. Don't make up a reason, tag it to race then go on a diatribe about Blackface. That, too, is dishonest. We need honest dialog about racism; not reactionary pablum.

  • @upabittoolate
    @upabittoolate11 жыл бұрын

    Who's talking down on you? I'm keeping you honest by pointing out a flaw on your logic. It wasn't me who said, "next time read the comment". You're a cool dude but you get real sensitive real fast, bruh. Again, if you don't watch it, don't watch. But don't make up shit because that clouds the real dialog about racism. As an animator, I have that expectation of you because you're producing the art. All that "I'm me" talk really means you're lacking actual introspect. Do better.

  • @upabittoolate
    @upabittoolate11 жыл бұрын

    Yeah & you omitted the NAMES of the non-White writers & directors. That's just short of cherry-picking. As for the writers being all White during the 1st season premise, were you watching it to see who was Black or for what parts were funny? I understand that as an animator, you look at it differently but I really don't understand why the race of a writer matters. All your gags aren't about race. Why hold them to that standard? I'm not tryna "make" you do anything. I'm asking you to be honest.

  • @KartoonManagement
    @KartoonManagement11 жыл бұрын

    Really dude? The show is not funny to me. I don't like the stereotypical jokes about black culture written by another race. Once again if you like it, great! I don't and never will. From all of the "big words" you've used, I take it that you are an educated man. Which I find odd that you would feel blocking you is "bitch shit" Arguing online isn't healthy.I'm Neuro Tech at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth VA. You angered me with your sarcastic comment. And me being me had to comment.
