As an oversea Chinese, I already stop to answer any westerner's stupid questions toward Tibet, you can never win an argument with a brainwashed guy. I would just simply suggest they plan a Tibet visit in the future, seeing by yourself is believing, travel is the best way to remove prejudice

lots of westerner thought that development will "destroy" tibetan culture. however, one thing must be clear, poverty is not culture! If keeping other people in poverty and terrible living condition to satisfy your personal imagination and curiosity, it is selfish, inhumane and cruel.

When I was a kid, I put a "Free Tibet" sticker on my first car. Little did I know they were already free

Tibetan girls story is so touching. Sad to lose her two brothers. Bit of relief to know she still has 7 siblings.

I went to Tibet with my family during my long holiday before I go to college, I am an atheist but, I was inspired by those people who have deep faith in Buddhism. I was really shock, Tibet is such a quiet and mind-clearing place, people there are simple, life are simple. I begin to believe the power of faith.

Most Tibetan groups outside of China may be the descendants of the old nobles who fled in 1959. If the loss of slaves and land makes them suffer, then the descendants of the slaves having better lives in China makes them suffer more.

So interesting, the best thing I think that I got from your wonderful film, is that China is helping to take care of Tibet’s heritage. The artistry is simply amazing, trying to study journals that are 800 years old, to then do a comparative study to implement a technique that has been lost, there’s attention to detail, and attention to detail, how much caring can a people be, that to me is astounding. The paintings are exquisite, the people are so friendly, I hope the little girl realises her dream, what a sad tale , but if it has a positive ending , then it will have worth it. Life is life, we just have to get on with it.

Potala palace with that blue sky and a few wisps of white clouds, man that's a gorgeous backdrop to film in front of.

Lhasa has really developed. I first visited in 1993 and again in 1994 when we drove overland from Kathmandu. Roads were bad then particularly the treacherous 10km ride up the hill after the Friendship Bridge entering Tibet. There were many army checkpoints then and on every rooftop in Lhasa center around the temples soldiers were stationed. Was a less commercial time and locals wore tradition Tibetan clothes and always chanting prayers around the temples. There was a lot of poverty then and people never seem to have bathed and were darker. People hardly noticed us as they were deep into prayers. Place was also more run down. The altitude sickness was hard to get over but then in the 90s we all smoked and drank whisky which is lethal at that altitude. Wish I could visit again. Was lucky to see it when they first opened up.
