It’s a 2 stroke and they love it up high… and to keep chain speed up to make sure it’s oiling good and to not load up the saw and make too much heat in the engine…lugging a saw is horrible for it…if they have to come out of the cut or back off it for a few they will usually blip the throttle and not keep it bouncing off the limiter

We are definitely not out to ruin our lands. These guys that work in the woods every day care about making our forests healthy for generations to come I have fell timber all over the Westcoast and I haven’t met anyone out hear that is out to destroy everything like some think These projects are managed and looked at by Forrester‘s landowners loggers, and they are all out here too process and make use of the wood without making a negative impact on the environment. people have a tendency to freak out when you cut redwoods, but the truth is that this is actually helping big time in this particular area because it was left alone after the last logger went threw and the tress are too close together and become choked out “becoming fuel for fires” This spot in a short time will be thriving more than ever 👍 Sorry for the long explanation just trying to share what is actually taking place

@@westcoastsaw1368 No apology needed, maybe I should. I own a small landscape and tree care company, so I cut my fair share of trees also. A little different from logging. I love watch'n Y'alls content
What a freaking pig that first one was. Always dig your vids man.
New subscriber, I live in Northern Humboldt County California in the Redwood National Forest, Y'all rock at dropping them big ones. I used to cut timber until I lost my right eye now I just cut for firewood to get thru the winters. It sure would be nice seeing Y'all wear safety glasses, ya only have one set of eyes.
Good fun!
Very cool

Yes those are called a “ fairy ring” most of the trees are sprouted out of the old stumps you can’t kill these redwoods you cut down one and 20 little guys come back up They will grow right together
Oh I wanna cut trees... building a redwood deck right now. Turning out great, but dropping em looks more fun.

Nice video Gordy where did you leave mustache Mike ? Take care.
I love felling, I doubt I could even be considered an amature though. I seem to have some trouble matching up my cuts, other than that I do ok. Just seems like it allways takes me some time cleaning my notches out.
Eastern red cedar will bind a chain too. We'll sometimes drizzle water from a gallon jug to help lube the chain. But, you'd need a tanker truck of water for those monsters. 😂
Great video again. Thanks for taking us along with you :) Do you need another guy?
5:00 I did that my first day too.
Go jacks !
Gordie- how do they retrieve the wood after it’s bucked into transportable lengths? It’s awful ground conditions, and there are trees in the way! 😂
I’d love to let you build my ol 262xp to run 24” and 30” bar…such a perfect little saw with potential…traded a 390 stihl ready to cut to powerhead that needed coil and put 1 in it an d cut several years and havnt used it in awhile…got a new 362 to try and does good…had 460 12yrs or so and 064…288..and many more big uns…

Great video Gordy! I was just reading about the guys from the 1970s and 80s using Stihl 090s with .404 chains to fell some reall big redwoods. Any chance you could rig up some .404 chain to use in your videos? Thanks again for the great content.

Those old saws had low rpm torq and they will pull that big sprocket and chain the newer saws “ unless you’re running like a 90cc saw and up” they wouldn’t do well because of the power is up higher in the rpm’s Everyone is also looking for the lightest saw to pack around too those old guys were a different breed 💪
How bad is that redwood bark getting caught up in your chain and how bad is it on the chain?
nice

I’ve noticed when cutting little stuff it tends to snag the bigger chains at a lower rpm and loosen them worse and or derail them. But they may have there own reasons such as a they may think it’s beautiful music😅😂
What's the purpose of pulling the bar in and out when bucking up the logs? Are you just clearing the chips?
@westcoastsaw1368
Жыл бұрын
No everytime you run the bar in and out the curf gets wider and allows the bar not to get pinched in the cut

I'm not a logger by any means, but why gun the throttle all the time?? Just a question.
@tjlovesrachel
Жыл бұрын

Just want to see old growth preserved- I know this isn't old growth, but new growth today could be old growth tomorrow. Anyway, I guess I am wrong on this, so I apologize if I came across as arrogant.
I’d love to do that as a job let me tell you😂😂😂😂
