Intial Audio SlowMo VS Cableguys HalfTime VST[Audio Examples]

Музыка

A VST plugin shootout video between Intial Slowmo and Cableguys Halftime. Which is the better half speed time manipulation software? They both cost under $20 and work on Windows and MacOSX. Halftime has a slight edge on Intial Slomo in features. While SloMo has a vectorial GUI (if that really matters to you). Let me know which one you like the most.

    Nice review! If you download the latest version of HalfTime, you'll find that the Smooth knob has a much larger range (500ms either way) than in the video, with FX and Swell modes that can be used creatively!

    Sound aside im riding with the company that actually allows users to download an unlimited, uncrippled demo, with only restrictions being 1 per project and no preset saving. SlowMo holds up surprisingly well but Cableguys algos are some of best in biz and Halftime handled transients better as evidenced by the transient shaping option built in.

    neither reverse nor slowmo are working in Mac m1 currently

  • @largepoodle6036
    @largepoodle60363 жыл бұрын

    Also yall I think pro tools halftime is probably the goat... Just listen to day n nite for example. Dotdagenius accidentally hit shift + spacebar on his mac toward the end of the production and they halftimed it on accident, and they ended up integrating it into the track. If you listen, everything about the protools halftime in that track is far superior to anything you'll get from cableguys halftime, that slowmo plugin, or grossbeat halfspeed. Why that is, I'm not sure. Perhaps a better algorithm in protools halftime code. Or, maybe it's the lack of oversampling in these other plugins. Someone should try turning their samplerate to 192khz and try these halftime plugins compared to 44.1... I'm assuming that's the difference between slowmo and cableguys halftime. Halftime oversamples a little bit, where slowmo is just 44.1 or less. If the entire project is at 88.2, 96 or 192khz, I'm thinking it could force those plugins to oversample and result in a better sounding halfspeed. I'm not 100% sure, it's just speculation. All i know is that day n nites halfspeed is way better than any of these lol. I wonder if there is something hardware you can use to achieve this type of result...

  • @jmricheson1160
    @jmricheson11605 жыл бұрын

    Slo-mo has over sampling. To my knowledge half time does not. Although half-time has more options they are more or less options that you can automate on slow MO,as far as fade-in and fade-out with your dry wet knob is the same effect as half-time with setting the fade-in fade-out with the power button either way you're going to have to make an automation clip to trigger the power on off or to move your dry wet knob on slow mo so to me that argument is really pointless, half time does have the filter settings which I think gives it a competitive edge. I do feel like the sound quality is better out of slow mo, but it's not so great of a difference that the consumer and/ or hobbyist producer would notice a difference. For me I just get tired of the same plugins and sometimes using different plugins changes my workflow the pull me out of a regular routine... I mean with plugins that cheap it's like buy'em both.... Or if you want over sampling and endless options I still think the best plug-in in this category of plugins is melda productions MRythmizerMB.

  • @jmricheson1160

    @jmricheson1160

    5 жыл бұрын

    And not to say that cable guys sound shaper box isn't an extremely powerful plugin with a ton of options, it just doesn't have as many modulating options as what the melda productions MRythmizerMB plugin has. just saying if I was going to throw that out there I ain't trying to throw any shade on cable guys because I absolutely love their plugins too, but if someone were to ask me what's the best way to slow down music and offer me the most options in the long run contained within the plugin melda hands down. I would say that's my opinion but I think that going off a facts MRythmizerMB a pretty could win the argument.
