That is the cleanest and nicest set up I have seen on a m4. I have the m3 no major mods yet, but I wish I had gotten the m4 instead for the extra room and hard floor

Many Thanks. I copied a few things and I came up with a few things myself.

I had an older Mercury 2.5 on mine. I was foolish enough to sell it needing$ and ended up having to buy a 3.6 Hangkai because I waited and waited for a good used motor and couldn't find one. looks nice!! love our M4!

Hi Juliane, Many thanks, the engine is a short shaft with 2.3 hp. A maximum of 3 hp are approved for the Intex. More is not to be recommended, because the motor mirror would not endure much more.

The additional weight is about 50 kg. Motor, floor, box and content.

Hi, excelllent set up !! Congrats !! I just baught the mariner 4 a few days ago and i am thinking of a few mods. I will use it in the sea , not in a river . I have myself, some questions and your experince would be much appreciated !!. What is the top speed of your Honda 2.6 Hp motor ? I was thinking to put on a 4 hp motor . Do you think that power ( 4 hp) would cause problems to the stability of the boat and /or to the mirror " Do i have then to adjust another home made mirror ? Also , what kind of wood did you use for the extra floor ( is it an osb ?) ? Is it i guess resilient for the sea water ? Is it in two pieces ? If yes , when you step on the floor do the two separate pieces move or they remain stabilized ? How many kilos did the extra floor added to the boat ?Thanks for your answers !!

Hello, thank you. I measured the speed again. The Handa motor should be sufficient. With a 4 HP engine, the weight would have to be taken into account. The original mirror would no longer be stable enough. For the floor I used an OSB panel made of two parts. ► kzread.info/dash/bejne/ioN6y7Swd9mTXcY.html If the two parts are well adjusted, they will not move and are very stable. The floor weighs an additional 12 kg.

The original floor is still below. That gives a better stability.

Hi again !! Two more questions . I noticed that you have put a chain in the honda motor and onto the boat somewhere but is not clear from the video where you attached the chain . Why did you do that and where exactly did you put that chain ? And second one , where did you find those couples ( 4 pieces ) of rock guards aroud your Mariner 4 ?Do you have a link for them and what would their proper size be, so as to buy the same ?They add an extra beauty to the boat apart from the safety !!

No, the long shaft version would burden the motor mirror too much.

Nice looking boat. How's that stock Intex motor mount working with the Honda 2.3? Is it flexing at all?

I have an earlier Honda of similar size. Sits really low in the water on the mount and even lower with throttle. Would really benefit with some extra support

Hallo Ronny, vielen Dank. Der Motor ist ein Kurzschafft, ein Honda BF 2.3 Luftgekühlt. Jedoch habe ich diesen nicht mehr am Boot, da der Honda Motor durch seine Luftkühlung sehr laut ist. Jetzt habe ich einen Suzuki DF 2.5 Kurzschafft Motor. Dieser ist Wassergekühlt und demzufolge etwas leiser. Zudem hat er eine Metalschraube, nicht wie der Honda Motor eine Kuststoffschraube. Vom Preis sind die Motoren fast gleich. das Dach (Bimini) habe ich etwas in der breite kürzen müssen.

What did you stick to the top side of the main air chambers to mount the pole for the shaded top? Basically what did you use on the opposing sides of the pole holders? I’m looking for something extremely similar. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

Thanks very much. In the bow compartment there is petrol, the anchor and a battery. The battery is for the electric outboard or for the radio or to charge the cell phone.

I know it says Max horsepower 1.5 hp but what do you think works best on this boat, trolling or gas powered? I have the factory motor mount. Thx! Hi again, i am serching for a motor for my mariner 4 . I would appreciate if you could tell me your honda motor is with short or long shaft and what makes the difference ? they are both suitable for the mariner 4 ? Generally speaking can we put on the mariner 4 both long or short shaft motor and why there are two options ? i have found a few motors in the internet around 2.6 hp and 3 hp but do not now if it must be one with long or short shaft, so i cant ordered one before i make sure it fits .My boat will be used mostly ( 90%) in the sea if that helps . Last question , if i modify totally the plastic mirror could i put for examble another motor with diferrent size in length ? Sorry for asking but i am totally not relevant and confused and do not want to order the wrong size

Hello, I have a short shaft Honda engine. The short shaft is enough for the Mariner 4. The motor mirror can certainly hold a larger motor, but the attachment to the boat will certainly not be able to cope with this for a long time. I hope I could help you.

@@SV1HFK The long shaft also fits. It doesn't matter where you use the long or short shaft. It depends on the type of boat. The longer shaft will probably not make the boat much slower. However, you have more resistance in the water and a greater draft.

With the additional soil it is more stable when fishing. You can stand much better and walk. The boat is also more stable overall.

As it is now set, it works very well.

Stay away from Intex. Buy Aquaparx or another PVC boat instead.

Why ? For leisure it is sufficient. I have spent more than 50 hours on the water and everything is fine with the boat. If you treat the bottom properly everything is fine. Of course there are better boats. This is enough for me.
