There is a clear Faroese accent, she kind of mixes in some general danish, norwegian, swedish(if you like) words, just enough to make herself understood by the Norwegian reporter) I think this way of talking, accent, they call 'Gøtu-danish' (Faroese person attempting to speak Danish, but have a strong accent) Naturally she also can speak pure Danish very well, when she like to.

@@Rimrock300 Interesting! Now that I'm listening again, it sounds a lot like gutnish, the dialect spoken on the Swedish island of Gotland.

@@andchi2000 Interesting about the Gotland dialect. I've read a bit more now about the dialect she speaks here. They learn Danish in school on Faroe Islands, as a second language. So she actually say the danish words when speaking, more or less, but put in little/no effort to use any danish accent, just speak it with a Faroese accent. This way it sounds more 'general scandinavian' 'Gøtu-danish' is not a 'official dialect', but more of comical reference/expression towards Faroese people speaking Danish without the correct Danish accent. Which is easier too many people on the Island)

Translation (part 4): (E): No, there's never been a music school in the neighbourhood, but I was raised in a family that loves music. I remember my mother singing all the time and my father writes poems. I remember I used to sing on different occasions of all kinds when I was a little girl. I started to sing in a band for the first time when I was twelve years old and it was, of course, a rock band.

Translation (part 1): Interviewer (I): Eivør, we are now on Faroe Islands, in Gøta where you come from and where your career started. In what way did your career start here? Eivør (E): I grew up here in Gøta, where circa 1000 people live. This is where I lived when I was a child, where my roots are and where I had my daydreams of becoming a singer when I was a little girl. I have travelled a lot and lived in other places, but somehow I always come back to this place where I grew up.

Such a shame that there's no english subtitles.... I love her music.

she talk all nordic languages and moust people in faroe islands understand them and menny speak them

I am very surprised that I understood almost everything as someone who knows only Icelandic but never learned any danish (grew up overseas)

Maybe just because she is not a native speaker of Norvegian, I understand her Norvegian much better than e.g., of that interviewer.

@@anttikarttunen1126 Interesting to hear) I've looked more into it and as some others have pointed out in comments, she is actually speaking Danish, that they learn in school there as a second language (which is very similar in writing as 'official' Norwegian) But she is not using the Danish accent, rather speaking straight forward with her Faroe accent. This make it sound, to me at least, like similar to some Norwegian west coast kind of accent. The interviewer is from east of Norway.

You can go for a walk or visit a friend, so you get very close to the people who live here and that's also very charming. Hon kan prata bra riktig danska. Det här är hennes norska, men den har påtagliga likheter med det gamla färöiska sättet att uttala danska på.
