14:16 I totally agree! The way the female characters are portrayed in the Novel is amazing - from princesses to fisherwoman, they are all treated equally and are super bold, witty, and loveable. And the fact that they all have shades of grey in their personalities makes it even more brilliant writing. I really hope that in the next part, they give more importance to characters like Poonguzali and Vanathi. And the story ends with Manimegalai too, a naive brave teen princess❤ miss her in this movie

Great to see the rapport between the cast with no one monopolizing the conversation. Each of them had something significant to say. And thanks Anupama for asking Vikram about the beheading scene. The interval block was a revelation and solid gold .

That's true.. Ravi is one gggoooodddd guy... But second thing is Ponniyin Selvan isn't the main character in the books... The main character is Vandhiyadevan followed by Nandhini and then Arunmozhi... Even though he is the title character.. He ain't the main guy

Shobitha is like that one brilliant top student who will not unnecessarily talk just for the sake of talking but if talks, put the points out so brilliantly….

I could listen to these artists conversations for hours.. Everybody have the respect to each other these actors pretty smart in many aspects.

I really like the way that Ravi expressed about his brother ,that was such a cute brotherhood i genuinely feels that❤

So refreshing to hear some sensible talk from these intelligent educated starcast where every one is in on equal footing. Usually in such interviews, the limelight is always hogged by the hero or the heroine of the movie and the interview just gets reduced to mere vanity.....

I love the SIMPLICITY of Southern Actors the most…hope they retain that & don’t get carried away by fashion & Bollywood hoopla barring few sensible ones!

Aishwarya had worked with so many great directors in these years Sanjay leela Bhansali, Karan Johar, Aditya Chopra, J P Dutta, Shankar, Rituparna khosh, Ashuthosh Gowarier... So many talented & renowned names but the only person she always... go gaga over prasies & respect that is Mani ratnm sir. It's true respect who introduced her into the world of cinema, like teacher who taught us the abcd... She has achieved so much, but still the respect & love for him same.

It was such a lovely interview, cannot wait to see the movie!

I love how Tamil actors are comfortable with going grey: Jayam Ravi, Ajith, Madhavan, Vikram, etc. They are aging gracefully while being confident that age doesn't matter when it comes to talent and sexiness. Actors who try really hard to stay young while dressing like teens such as Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan can use a makeover.

The way Vikram is off screen and on screen is unbelievably distinct. He’s absolutely gifted

I just wish there was at least another couple minutes with Trisha. I think she’s just great in the movie and in general too

This is the best example of grounded democratic art and camaraderie. Where people voluntarily give credit to each other and appreciate it as a team. Loved each one but Jayam Ravi was a surprise for me both in the movie and in the interview. Always loved Vikram and Aishwarya Rai. The first time, we have to spell out the full name of Aishwarya because of Aishwarya Lekshmi in the forum too. I so wish the interview was longer though. Good work, Anupama (y)

This is where exactly one should pay attention. Aishwarya (sure is beautiful and all but) speaks out of turn, cutting everyone. The way she makes sure other ladies understand she is the epitome in the female cast is so obvious. Shobita is such an intellect; she maintains her composure all while seemingly upset when interrupted unwarrantedly by 'the' Aishwarya. True inclusion comes from letting others succeed and supporting them in their endeavors. Just my two cents.

​​​​@@SagarHiware These are the only interviews of her with the cast. She didn't get to speak in the previous interviews the cast had in different states/cities during promotional tour. So you shouldn't mind. And I guess, being a south indian herself, she's quite comfortable with this cast than Bollywood.

These guys are intelligent actors. They learn and grow as a professional in each project and when it comes to the master craftsman mani rathnam they all becoming a student all over again and imbibe most I guess. The mutual respect they have for each other is brilliant. Shobita seems very deep and connected with all her answers.Lovely interview Anupama. When recreating a history as a movie, the role of the director is challenging- not only in delivering the story at it's original form; but also retaining the interest of the audience. Bringing all the movie giants under one roof and offering such an exceptional spread to the audience; is definitely a humongous task. Director Mani Ratnam has pulled it off quite charmingly. Sincere respect and love to Mani Ratnam for giving us so many memories to cherish from the chola - pandya dynasty and giving us a face to relate to each of those characters. All the actors have been carefully hand picked by the director. They have done justice to their roles - some have more screen time in part 1 and others in part 2. All the emotions have been beautifully edged by ARR. The chemistry between Aditya Karikaalan and Nandini have been so wonderfully brought out through the song - "veera". Kudos to ARR for being such a backbone of this mega epic film. Much grateful to the entire crew of PS for giving us a movie of this century. Thank you Renjini ❤❤😊😊

I guess the reason why she spoke so much is because in most of the promotions for part 1 & 2, she attended just 15% of it. This being in English, she could bring out her emotions about the film and role.
