"Kamal Haasan taught me to take a back seat for the benefit of a film" | Madhavan | Face2Face

Ойын-сауық

R Madhavan, star of the Amazon Prime original Breathe, talks about his 20-year-old career (his first major role, in the Kannada film Shanti Shanti Shanti, was in 1998). He laughs about being too "mature" for romantic roles, and discusses opting for quality over quantity, and his biggest reality check. He speaks about upcoming projects like Chanda Mama Door Ke, a sci-fi film about an Indian astronaut landing on the moon, and Savyasachi, his Telugu film with Naga Chaitanya. He talks about whether a Rajinikanth or a Shah Rukh Khan is possible anymore, and about the differences between Bollywood and the Tamil film industry -- including Dhanush's role in Raanjhanaa. He speaks on Pushkar-Gayatri's Vikram Vedha, and about his experiences of working with Mani Ratnam, Anand L Rai, Rituparno Ghosh, Kamal Haasan and Rajkumar Hirani.

The most underrated Indian actor. Maddy is the Rahul Dravid of actors (honest, sincere, overlooked). For eg: He was as good as Vijay Sethupathi in Vikram Veda but his performance is not talked about.

In vikram veda, vijay sethupathi just outshined madhavan, its not that madhavan is not good or not better. But vijay sethupathi's portrayal of each character he get is exceptional, and i think veda is the hero of vikram veda not vikram.

I think no other Tamil actor is educated. They can't string one grammatically coherent sentence in English.Even if they are educated they are pretty dumb. Plus Madhavan is a Tambrahm(iyengar) who grew up in North India so naturally he has sophisticated English proficiency and wisdom which is completely lacking in culture-less rowdy Tamil cinema world.

Ardhendu s So hes saying families r paying 5000 rupees to watch a movie .. The majority people in mimbai cannot afford to spend that kind of money on 2 hours of their time. And materially get nothing out of it.. He gives an example of the marathi movie making 90 crores in 2days in mumbai alone..even when the pirate cds have come out.. So how did the movie halls makr 90 crores for that movie when the interviewee here admits the pirate cds where already out..with the majority not being able to afford the tickets as a family...when purate cds are available..why would the public spend 5000 out of a modal salary of 25000 per month..when pirate cds r out..the pirate cds r printed by the same criminal groups so as to make the movie accesible to the majjority so as to create an illusion that the movie has been watched..the majority of the public cant even afford to have a cd player...they r living food to mouth.. The only way is that umaudited ticket sales are fake sales ..laumdering drug money ..and other black money from criminal activities.. Either this actor is so naive of this propbabilty that what runs movies have and always been drug money laundering and organ trafficking rimgs... All the movie industry can be is to be disengenuous as to how it makes disgusting amounts of money..when most of us who watches movies online ir wait for it to come on tv.. He is foolimg everyone when he talks about econimics of the film industry and laughably ignores the crime industry that has funded this induatry for a long time to launder its process..whether it be d company or not.. There is an elephant in that imterview room..can anyone see it.. It supports child prostitution rings ..drug rings..organ traffickking rings ...please be the discernable public that u should be and not be fooled by the black magic of hollywood or bollywood..or any other woods..the truth is hiding in the woods dont be afraid to discover it ..dont be decieved .. This actor and other in his industry r beleiving their oen created illusions that the public is living to watch movies..i can easily afford watching movies and i dont go watch them in cinema halls..even i think the ticket money is too much..i can get about 4 good meals from that money..why should i bet my money to give me a good time to watch people making a fool of themselves daaancing and prancing around.. Im also educated enough to understand that by paying money to these unaudited ticket halls i am suppirting the criminal enterprises laundering money.. I also educated enough to take 2 minutes of my life and look up the true meaning of the word ENtertainment.. It means to keep someone in a particular state of mind..ie in a programmed state..because we r programmable ..just like this interview has programmed both the intervieer ..interviewee and audience to believe that people r watching movies in their droves and making crores for these d company agents.when the majority r living food to mouth..and he is trign to convinve the punlic they will spend rs 5000 on a single song and dance show..5000rupees is about 70 pounds ..even majority of people in london cant afford to spend that much money on watchinng a movie and guruji here is saying majority people in mumbai who r busy trying to live food to mouth r saving about a 5th of thier salary waiting fir the bollywood idols and gods to come down and bless them with 2 hours of " entertainment" .am i programmed enough to be dumbed down enough to be spending 2 hours of 2d fakery on the screen when i can spend 2minutes with a dictionary reading the truth.. i am not fake ..what will be fake is.. Fake news..fake bollywood..fake economy..we r all been conned and khanned into a reality show..of fakery Do the math

Yet another sensible interview. There are very few people who can engage the audience just by having a very casual conversation and Maddy nails it every time. People like him teach you about how to be heard without being loud and arrogant.
