What an incredible honor to listen to this man speak. I'm bowled over by his ability to remember events and people in such detail at his age. He's always been one of my heroes.

We couldn't agree more, have you listened to the Harry Crosby interview on our channel? Amazing!
Episode 5 of Masters of the Air was a great introduction to Rosie's heroism and skill. The man flew the Fort like it was a Mustang.

Read Col. Crosby’s 1993 “Wing and a Prayer,” the OG for 100th history. Crosby marks Munster as the turning point for the 100th, when the raunch and bad formation flying ended and new professional, focused leadership under guys like Rosie, Crosby, Blakely, Kidd, Douglass took over.

He flew it like both a fighter and like a Battleship lol turning the aircraft to put maximum firepower on one or two attacking fighters at a time. Brilliant!

Gives me chills to hear this fine hero speak… Deepest admiration.
What an actual hero. A superhero actually.
Figured this video would become quite popular after Masters aired.
Although he doesn’t look or talk like him, Nate Mann does a great job playing Rosie in the series. You can see why he was so adored by his crew.
I have so much respect for these guys. As a combat veteran myself, a medic in the Infantry, we can find cover usually and can anticipate where the enemy is firing from. These guys are in a aluminum tube trapped with no place to go with enemy fire coming from all directions. I couldnt even imagine.
Unbelievable interview! I didn’t know much about Rosie Rosenthal, however I briefly met his son at reunion of the Bloody 100th at Mighty 8th museum in Savannah,❤I became interested Rosie”What a remarkable man”! I hope Master of The Air can do him and 8th AirForce justice!

As a lifelong, probably obsessively at times, music fan, I feel a connection to Rosie. Absolute hero, it’s hard to imagine what he went through.
I never knew who this man was until watching Masters of the air. What a courageous man and war hero. Amazing career and life he lived. I'm glad this interview was done to honor his legacy and for us many years later to hear him speak about his experiences. Simply amazing man!

Love this man and interview! I got to interview many WASP (Women Airforce Service Pilots) and an American woman who flew in England in the ATA. This was the greatest generation! My parents too. The interviews with these REAL heroes are priceless.
Mesmerizing interview. The intelligence, focus, and moral substance of Mr. Rosenthal is spellbinding. "Rosie" Rosenthal is truly one of the greatest of the "greatest generation." We should all aspire to be 1/10 as courageous and productive as Mr. Rosenthal. Thank you for preserving our freedom.

I was around nine years old in 1972 when I first read about the 100th BG and Robert Rosenthal in the book "Flying Fortress" by Edward Jablonski. For me, both the 100th and "Rosie" epitomize the prime example of the B-17, its wartime service, and the men that flew her.

What a remarkable man! I would have loved to have met him, and it would of been a privilege to serve with him on his bomber crew. I first remember reading about Bob Rosenthal, Harry Crosby, Buck Cleven and Bucky Egan in Edward Jablonski's book Flying Fortress when I was a kid in the mid 1970s.

Why was the end cut? What incredible story!!Robert 'Rosie' Rosenthal you represent the best of mankind.
Please put up the rest of the interview, I wanted to hear about the Nuremburg Trials :( I live not far from Thorpe Abbotts control tower and in Summer I'd go and sit on the roof and read my book and listen to the wind and the skylarks, I like to think that some of the flyboys are still around there and that they were sunning themselves on the roof with me, or waiting for the planes to come home. A wonderful museum worth a visit. I've been to a 95th Bomb Group reunion in Dayton, and have flown in a B17 and met a lot of the veterans. How I'd have loved to have met Rosie. I now live right next to Hethel airfield where the B24s used to be based and where Lotus cars is!
By the way my grandfpathers name was.. William Graham , WW1 vet . My father's name was Bernie Mast WW2 , I'm glad I told my dad , who's now gone... How proud I was of him . I'm Scott mast , patriot
My uncle also came off the streets of Brooklyn. He flew A-20s and P-40s in the New Guinea area in WWII. 184 missions documented by a letter from General Kenney.
What a brilliant and inspiring human being this man is.

Absolutely mesmorizing. The Greatest Generation is such an understatement. What an honor just to be able to listen to Rosie. I can’t help but think about the neo-Nazi types in America today. They should be shackled together and forced to watch and listen to this remarkable Jewish American hero. I doubt that a single one of them would ever spew their insane hateful ignorance again…knowing that not one of them could ever be even a minute fraction of the man Rosie was…..Ever. I am completely moved by not only Rosie’s amazingly clear recollections, but by his obvious warmth, honesty, honor and decency…..the Best of humanity.
having your first drinking experience be with GI issued soviet vodka with a bunch of Russians must have been something else
Simply amazing.
Amazing the guy a true studd !!!
It's fortunate Rosie didn't have to see what is happening today. We owe it to him and his brothers in arms to fight against whats happening on our campuses today.
What a man
Rosie was the bravest of the brave. God bless him and my father who was a B17 flight engineer on AckAckAnnie for saving us.
A "textbook" war hero
Im proud to be an american.... immensely....not because of anything I've done , but because of men who were veterans , whenever someone speaks of "real men" I've known many , they were from my Fathers generation , and rosies. What they endured at such a very young age ,set a bar , in stone for me of the measure of what a real man is , duty honor patriotism , valor , now that I think of it ....they also set the bar for what is referred to as a "hero" ,I'm 69 now born in1954 and when I was a child ......every grown male seemed to have been a veteran of WW2 ... There were still many who served in WW1 , my grandad was an air plane mechanic and said the planes were flying coffins because of fabric covering not .metal and they burned easily , that's why a number of pilots jumped .....they didn't have parachutes ,jump or burn .Terrible , what guts... So young , he also witnessed the results of mustard gas attacks on our "MEN" they were blinded ... In agony ... couldn't breath , walking in. Single file with a hand on the guy in front of him , cause they were blinded , thats WW1 , he told me that the term "up and at em" came from , up outa the trench and at the enemy . My father was in WW2 the ..5th army 157th infantry....the thunderbird division , hit four beachheads in Italy..north Africa , sicily , Salerno , and was wounded and captured at a place called ANZIO , escaped got caught and escaped a second time and made it back . I consider myself lucky ....border when I was to be in position to be around these modern gladiators , I listened to so many men and their stories I regret not writing them down , the stories are now lost and will belong to the ages and history books when I'm gone . I consider myself lucky and will always be honored to have heard these great men's combat records . Honored . .....I remember the speech JFK gave "ask not ....what your country can do for you......but what you can do for your country.....absolutely fuckin right , the young in this country do not know the sacrifice or the price paid for our freedom .I must confess... I'm very worried that our country is in great danger ,and the enemy is within ,if the giant doesn't soon begin to stir... Our country our freedom and liberty our way of life and culture will be lost ....for it's under assault by Marxist anarchist liberal Democrat traitors. Was it Lincoln who said "a country divided...cannot stand" I'm not sure our youth posses the right stuff, like our forfathers . Guess time will tell. I'll say a couple of things in closing ...if there are any real men left , go for broke ! For there's no substitute, for VICTORY.. that is all ...God bless the United States of america

Funny - I’m the same age. Grew up with the same reverence for the WW2 vets: held them in awe. And certainly aware of the goofiness and lack of sense of some young people nowadays. And I’m deeply worried about our country too. But not so much because of supposed “Marxist anarchist liberals,” but rather the nazi leaning types that Rosenthal fought against (he mentioned the “America firsters”, the German-American bund). The right wing followers of a morally corrupt cult leader seem to me to be the real threat. They want to abandon the constitution, and sell the country to a vile huckster. Makes a mockery of what so many died to preserve. But it looks like it’s gonna happen. Goodbye USA.
This guy was truly a legendary air power bomber pilot who was also the prosecutor of Hitler 2nd in command. I felt that Masters of the Air didn’t do him justice.
