I’m detecting lies on both sides of this. Benevidez has said in many interviews that they never received an offer from Canelo’s team…now all of a sudden they did receive an offer for $5 million…more than he has ever received for a fight. Then the timing of taking a fight at 175 just a couple of weeks before the sanctioning body considers stripping Canelo is bullsh!t. You say you waited this long, what’s another two weeks? I believe Canelo wants to take fights at this point in his career for highest pay/lower risk and Benevidez is holding out for more money in case he loses, but pricing himself out. I don’t believe either fighter is afraid, but this is ALL about money.

The claim that Benavidez has been mandatory for 3 years itself is a lie pushed by team Benavidez. They try to claim that fighting Ellis made him mandatory when that was a cherrypick he took coming off of publicly rejecting Plant and Smith fights along with dropping his 168 belt. Eddie Hearn just spoke with Sampson about making the fight and Sampson demanded US rights for the fight be be shown on Amazon Prime instead of DAZN. Great interview, fellas, very insightful as it pertains to the mindset of a warrior. There's nothing wrong with pursuing greatness like Benavidez. However, there isn't anything wrong with enjoying the fruits of your labor either and exercising your right, as a prize fighter, to choose your fights once you're at the top, like Canelo. Both can exist and be true for each respective party. Now, with that said, Canelo definitely seems to be ducking Benavidez and stringing folks along, which is annoying. He should absolutely relinquish the belts by now! Still, if the fight happens, I have Canelo by late stoppage.

Canelo wanted to be paid a crazy amount for an unworthy opponent so they said no we can’t pay you that amount for that fight because it’s not a fight people wanna see. So canelo left. They told him we will give you 35 mill for charlo ONLY if you fight David after. Canelo turned it down.

We need guys like Paulie in boxing. One of the few people in media holding folks accountable. Fans can’t be satisfied with boxers being able to avoid certain fighters. If fighters don’t want to entertain fighting the best, then do something else.

@@jamm356 I don’t think anyone is objective when it comes to media. All have some short of bias. And fans have bias as well. Fans will tend to align themselves with media who supports their own claims. It’s a mutual exchange between fans and media lol But I like things like this because fans of these fighters won’t say “what is” they only want to be comfortable with their fighter being the best, even if it’s only true to them.

Real boxing fans/aficionados will never forget this cowardice by Canelo.

Well, I didn't believe Jose and Samson but when Teddy complimented him on his background that convinced me that everything he says is the gospel truth. Thank you for not asking any real questions and just taking his narrative at face value. I do disagree with Paulie, however. Avni Yildirim did build himself up into that position to get the fight. He somehow became a soft touch mandatory for David Benevidez before David lost his belt on the scale.

The only way he would change my mind is if he fought Benavidez the conversations over

Canelo has been an awesome boxer for a long time but his last two fights have been BS matches, and now there’s talks of a third with Munguilla. Not a good way to end what has been a great career. The sport is hurting right now, and this doesn’t help.

I’m a fan of canelo. Ive been watching the dude since he was 19, i’m a year older and i was boxing when i first heard of him and began studying him. I love and enjoy his style. I would have respected Canelo more had he retired after undisputed or after bivol or even ryder. At this point though i’m starting to hope benavidez beats his ass. This is not the spirit of a fighter or a champion. Dnt be surprised if his plans get ruined by a different fighter
