Interview with Engineer on the new Ryvid Anthem (Launch Edition) Electric Commuter Motorcycle

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

I interviewed the Engineer for the new Ryvid Anthem Electric Motorcycle at the 2022 Castle Rock TT. The all-new motorcycle on pre-sale today (August 14th, 2022). The Pre-Sale will be limited to 1,000 bikes with pricing at $7,800. With an estimated range over 75 miles and a top speed of 75 mph this motorcycle looks to be slotted very well between electric bicycles/scooters and the more expensive electric motorcycles currently on the market. The design appears to be well thought out with a seat height that is adjustable from 30 to 34 inches with the push of a button, batteries that are easy to recharge/remove/replace, and a modular design that simplifies assembly and keeps cost down. The Ryvid is built in America. The video has more info. The Ryvid website is Ryvid.com. For more video on this channel click on @OldMotoDude.

I question the front fender doesn’t look like it will prevent spray back. I like that they will be assembled in the US.

I don't want to be one of those people who ask for the impossible, but even slow level 2 charging would be some 3 times faster than 110. Now you can recharge in about an hour, or take meaningful sips along the route. Would that be possible as a fairly inexpensive option?

@@OldMotoDude-TheOriginal I looked them up online, they do have it listed there. Looks like it has a variable Regen based on the mode (sport/standard)

How long do rivets last? I'd be interested to know how much it structure relies on the rivets for obvious reasons.

Good point. I understand they're embracing the use of rivets from aerospace design. But planes don't experience the same vibrations and jolts as motorbikes do. 🤔 ... Best to wait and see how well these bikes perform in their first year.

Learned that rivets are used not just on planes but on TANKS. So, I'm thinking it's a sound technique for metal fastening.

@@mobileprofessional well they're flying at 500mph at 36,000 feet while pressurized at 5000ft, and taking off and landing at well over 100mph - I think they have stresses a bike won't experience.

Dumb question but…Do you need a motorcycle license to drive these?

  • @OldMotoDude-TheOriginal

It probably varies from State to State. This is an interesting question as many states used to based the requirement on CC's. Since electric motorcycles don't have cc's there will need to be a different basis for the requirement. Not a dumb question at all.

0 to 60mph in 10s! That is too SLOW! You might as well buy a used Grom for $3K.

They are competing with scooters if you listen at the beginning. Ive looked at the grom there ugly, smaller but definitely cheaper. This is still pricy imo, Sondors metacyle is 6k
