For those who still see nothing wrong with "ordinary people" wouldn't hurt to include a few comments from "ordinary russians", which they gsve in their surveys about rusia soon to be dominating the world and all people in the world having to become rusian.

Oh yes, it's crazy how arrogant these "ordinary russians" are. I listen to these interviews, in russian, and I keep telling people in the US who think it's only "putin's war" that it's not just putin killing thousands of people, he has support in his brainwashed society. It's becoming more clear to people by now that the whole russian empire is EVIL.

The fact that Russia wishes to commit genocide in Ukraine has to be stated over and over, especially when so many see this as a local war, a territorial war, a war NATO keeps going and that Ukraine should just let Russia keep some of its territory to stop the war. One would have thought that after the Holocaust in WW II, the democracies of the world would have learned. But there have been several genocidal wars or actions since where western nations refused to intervene. Now, they refuse to see the Ukranian war in that context. Thank you Prof. Snyder!!

As for me, although I am not a great expert but just someone who follows events and news, I have been saying for 20 years that Putin was a fascist, and frankly, I have always wondered why our dear western leaders never asked themselves the question. Yet the signs were very clear. Just for example, in our democratic world, who was openly supporting Putin? The right-wing or far-right groups, plus a few nostalgic old communists who had not yet realised the reality (also similar to fascists, as it happens...). I say one thing: but what would it take to realise this? Were there not enough signs? And of course the rest of our leaders if they didn't support Putin openly certainly didn't mind doing business with him (see gas in Europe). Maybe I am naive...

Professor Snyder. A worthy successor to Professor Richard Pipes. A man who really understands this complicated mess of Eastern European history. I once had the opportunity to shake a professor's hand at a scientific conference in which he, as well as myself, a humble doctor, participated. Talking about genocide. We saw the same thing in the 1990s during the wars in the former Yugoslavia. And then, for several years, we sat on our asses and watched it all on TV. And there were the same talks: because World War I and II, Sarajevo, Serbs and Russia and all that, blah, blah. Then we finally sent air force and what happened...? Well, shit happened. Those who were supposed to get fucked up got fucked up, Russian Kacaps ran away to Russia screaming the way Russian Kacaps usually scream when someone kicks their ass well and... peace came. At that time, I was a young ensign sent on a peace mission to the Balkans. The longer I sat there and listened to the different stories, I wondered about one thing. Why the hell didn't we do this sooner if it was clear from the beginning that it had to be done?

Personaly, when discussing this with people, I prefer making the argument that russia is doing an ethnic clensing in ukraine because that is way easier to prove. The defenition of ethnic clensing is just one sentence: "The mass expulsion or killing of members of one ethnic or religious group in an area by those of another." On 27.04.2023 Putin signed a decree which says that they will deport everyone who does not have a russian passport from the occupied territories by 2024. I agree that they are also doing a genocide, but that argument takes longer to prove.

but someone with a russian passport doesnt become an ethnic russian, as the federation has dozens of ethnicities, albeit russified in terms of language.
