Interview avec Jean-François Kervégan / Interview with Jean-François Kervégan (Padua, 04.06.2015)

During the international congress on “Wirklichkeit”, which took place in Padua on 3rd-5th June 2015, and which was sponsored by the Hegel- Vereinigung, Professor Jean-François Kervégan released an interview to Hegelpd’s staff.
Jean-François Kervégan is the vice president of the Internationale Hegel-Vereinigung, and he is professor of Philosophy of Right at the Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne.
In political philosophy, Kervégan’s research interests are mainly directed to comprehending the destiny of concepts such as “State”, “sovereignty”, “democracy” and “human rights”, within a perspective which could be considered close to the one of the German Begriffsgeschichte.
In the field of the philosophy of right, now his main research focus, J.-F. Kervégan has been investigating the status of juridic normativity. He analyzed the way in which Kant’s and Hegel’s conception of normativity (“practical reason”) can feed the contemporary debate (post-Kelsenian and analytic debate) on the theory of right and how they can represent a solution aware of the difficulties implicit in this matter, especially concerning the relationship between right and ethics.
