My husband and I met in WoW and we've been married this coming June now 10 years.... but I tell EVERYONE it's a unique and fate driven way we met and we are LUCKY it worked because I've heard so many horror stories of people meeting in games, meeting IRL and it's a disaster..... Also I don't blame the OP at all for her wanting him to go away. Personality is important but you have to be physically attracted to someone for it to work. It sounds shallow but it's a fact. If you are repulsed by someone's appearances, or even smells, it'll never work out for you in the long run.

I met my bf on ffxiv but i am the first person to tell ppl NOT to actively look for partners there. Tbf, my bf and I met purely by chance, bc i invited him to my party by mistake, so we ended up just... doing content together with my other friend, bc why not? i found out we lived in same country and started talking. eventually he became interested to know me better but i said i don't date online, and if he was interested, he could travel and meet me irl so that's what he did and the rest is history, as they say.

I also met my s.o. in wow more than ten years ago. I was very cautious with our interactions for months. We met 1 year later and we fell more in love. We visited each other often and then i moved in with him later. Id heard lots of bad stories about meeting someone online and some that worked out. I guess for ppl who are dating ppl online be very cautious who youre talking to. Always talk via camera if possible and be transparent to each other. And try to meet in person asap. Imo having to see that person irl early will give you a sense of who they really are and if you have attractionat all with them.

My father always says, you cannot change a person beyond the age of 5 (five!). And I was always like, no way! But... well... I changed my mind: you really cant change people - they can only change if they want to. So, yeah, maybe he will change... Circumstances being as they are, he might turn a new leaf... and find new friends... and hopefully he wont manipulate them. But... yeah... we wont know that. It could be a happy ending, but thats up to him, not anyone else. Kudos to OP :)

yeah... and all the stories were like this, after cross referencing the last 10 years with his friends that he was living at, friends that supported him since elementary, we uncovered such a mountain of lies... I feel like, maybe he wanted to vent to me about bad stuff that was happening? So with this job, he wanted to express that it had happened? Yet then made himself look like the good guy and condemning the bad guy? All the stories that I heard from him that depicted this righteous, forgiving, loving persona all turned out to be The Other Side of the story that was not him.

If it weren't for the fact I live on the opposite side of the world where my morning is their evening, I'd totally jump over to EU servers to look for an opportunity for a static. I hope OP finds many friends and more ❤❤❤

I feel so much for OP, and saw myself in many aspects in it as well. Had a similar relationship with a guy I met in a game online (I have stayed single since), betrayal, lies, toxic and manipulative ppl, the woes of getting into your 30s and not being able to start a family soon - but also very sweet and supportive parents and friends so I can stand my ground. I play on NA sadly, otherwise I would've suggested to do Roulettes or go fishing or do FATEs and such, but hopefully with DC travel it might be possible to do soon! I hope you will find the friends you are seeking and I dearly believe in Karma, and you will find the person of your life soon 💜 Wish you all the best!!

About the beanie, I may have discovered what's under it. Recently I started noticing that my head was flaking a lot, like OP described in the video, so I went to the dermatologist and found out I had seborrheic dermatitis on my scalp, happens very often with people that have excess oil on the scalp or to people that use beanies, hats, wigs and other accessories that covers the scalp and doesn't let it breathe (my case is the oil in excess produced by my body). This usually have nothing to do with hygiene, and if mistreated can lead to baldness and a head full of wounds and fungi. So my guess is that he used this beanie so often that he ended up developing seborrheic dermatitis and it's in a bad stage that it's ugly to look at, because the baldness wouldn't let him hide with the hair.

I have a story. A long one and I have been thinking about sending it. The problem is that my story includes being a second in command to one of the very known jerks and egomaniacs of Jenova. Even Mr.Happy has referenced him (I believe). Started at World of Darkness patch of 2.4(?) and with the influx of new people that flooded the game at Shadowbringers I think his notoriety has fallen, but... Lol SOMEONE will know and I don't want him around me again. All I will say is Dex Tank. (Mr.Happy didn't say names, but he did say this in a video.)

Oh yeah, been there done that. My catfish was in Alabama and it took 3 and a half years before I broke things off. The pathological lying didn't end there. Went on for years after that. I knew there was something seriously wrong when he didn't want me to see him or come visit even if I paid for the plane tickets to SoCal. It's great that you're moving on and reflecting on what happened. You've got your whole life ahead of you. Keep your dreams alive, even if they don't come in the timing that you had anticipated. The way I see it, this is a tragic story for both of them. OP got her dreams crushed and was lied to and "Avery" clearly has many underlying issues and needs help. He is the result of childhood trauma and I feel sorry for him too. I understand why his friends got mad at him for all the lies but now that he is alone what hope there is for him to get help? Very sad imo Also one thing baffles me in this whole story. It is very personal and should have not been exposed like this to the world, specially not this soon. I see OP and Avery's friends are planning on even doing one more video ranting, why? It's looking like you all want attention at this point, sorry but really can't see it any other way :/

Good interview but I'm so sick of people using therapy speak to diagnose someone. This behavior is not sociopathic and once the internet discovers a new word they want to subscribe it to everything. The guy has serious issues but there is literally no evidence that points to being a sociopath - in fact quite a lot of evidence against it.

I wanted to give props to OP for eventually putting a stop to everything. She was so patient and kind considering the situation and there are others who would allowed themselves to be stuck in that nightmare. I’m similar age and it truly does suck to have your heart broken so badly with so much deceit. You look at others and wish that you had that someone. It affects you for a long time if not forever. He was pretending the other liars in her videos were so bad of people But then actually he's just sighing like "ugh these amateurs are so bad at lying and manipulating I'm so much better at it!"

I tried to leave him him for a good year and a half but was blackmailed into staying with him because he was depressed and suicidal. He begged me to stay with him and out fear I did. He even threatened me multiple times and I was terrified of what he might do.

These story got me reminded of a guy that i know in the game turned out to be more than friends type relationship and am married irl like crazy love all the storys so far on these story

No I don't believe so. I have an aunt who was completely disfunctional well into her 40s and who finally got help, turned it around, and now is a well adjusted, productive, and happy person in her 50s. Its never too late, the person just needs to get professional help, they clearly have deep seated mental health issues, once those are being treated its all about just putting in the effort and working on yourself. I don't think this guy is evil or hopeless, I think hes broken.

I still want to know what was up with the beanie, I think that question will haunt me. But now I want to find the story OP mentioned as her favorite.

OMG just came from the other video, and learning that the dad had really done that and he lost his mother made me sick. I hope he gets real help and gets better and can be a normal person in life, he is clearly so broken from trauma. Not an excuse for his behavior of course, but I have known people like this and after getting help they can finally become functional people. And I hope OP gets her happy future.

I kind of want to hear the guy's side on all of this. Not that I don't believe you, it's just nice to hear both sides of what went on because I feel like you both acted somewhat immature in certain aspects of this.

The guy is more at fault because he was the only one being deceptive (and is also clearly emotionally abusive and the sort of guy who makes suicide threats when he doesn't get what he wants), but the OP is also alarmingly naive and immature for someone her age. She frames it like this guy was some master manipulator, which makes me concerned that she'll find herself repeating this experience again in the future.

Yeah I feel like its only a red flag in combination with a lot of other things, on its own it might just mean you're a private person. I have no social media presence with my real name attached except this youtube account. I just don't like the idea of sharing my personal stuff with the entire internet lol. But I'm also an Elder Millennial, so my days of sharing everything on the internet were already almost over back when Myspace was brand new.

I highly doubt this guy paid real money for gil. The thing people often forget about gil is that it's also like real life money. TIME in the market is the real money maker. When most people "think" about gil. They think about how they are as a new player and all the new stuff they want to buy. They want gil, because they want to spend it. But you have to remember that some of these people have spent years playing this game. If you mastered crafting and bought everything back in 2.0 or HW, you're not spending crazy money to 'catch up.' You end up just dog piling more money on your collection. And the reverse of the poor-person tax also applies. If you see a really great deal like someone trying to liquidate 300 million gil worth of items for 50 mil because they're transferring or taking a break -- having the 50 mil on hand to snap that stuff up helps. Additionally, if you play so much that you have everything memorized, you can also recognize when people have underpriced things. Finally, if you have 100mil+ gil, you can also sweep a market. Buy it all up, and reset it at a higher price and control the market. Doing so requires a lot of investment and you can't spend or use that money if it's tied up in merchandise. But if you imagine you can gil cap one character an expansion, it's not hard to imagine someone with a handful of alts all capped if they've been playing for 3+ expansions. Additionally, all alts get more retainers, and more market share. The best profit I ever made was making about 3 billion gil in the month Kugane housing came out. I had spent a lot of time preparing for the housing market and crafting shit. And then when the patch came out, I signed up for all 8 retainers. 8 retainers at 20 slots each times 5 characters is a lot of market share. And while everyone is leveling up and throwing money away. I'm in town crafting and playing the market board. Granted, unlike OP's crazy guy, it did cost me RL money to hire extra retainers for a month. Pay to win feature, that is. ----------------------- It's been a long time since I've played FFXIV. I quit after the Endwalker saga, but drama like this is pretty fun to listen to! OP should still get therapy. When she explains why she fell for this guy, she states some pretty obviously stupid reasons. His voice was hot. He's knowledgable in the game which translates to powerful/rich. He's a bad boy, he had a troubled childhood. She's not looking for legitimately healthy characteristics. She's falling victim to vanity. She wants a hot dude that has power. And she's blinded so much by her lust that she overlooks all the red flags. Typical scam victim falling for delusional qualities. She takes zero accountability for her own delusions, and will make the same mistake again in the future, because she didn't learn the real lesson. She learned how to spot red flags, but she's not learning how to spot green flags. And again, green flags aren't "sounds hot and has power." ====================== I'm not sure how smart or stupid the Avery person is, but if he's really good at playing the market he could translate that shit into the stock market. That's what I did. And there's no way in hell I can ever play the gil game again. Fake money has nothing on the highs from making real money. The same can also apply to challenging content. People out there doing ultimates for a challenge. It's great if you enjoy that content. But restoring a house brought me much more joy than any gaming accomplishment I've ever done. I think sometimes people get carried away in the idea of doing something 'worthwhile' but have nothing to compare it to, so video game accomplishments feel a lot stronger. But the sad truth is, after 5 years, no one will really care. In 5 years no one will remember or care that you cleared an ultimate, or even if you ranked first on the server. So my advice for anyone looking for unsoilicted advice. Find something worthwhile to invest in, and live your best life. Don't get stuck on the treadmill of mediocrity. And no, no random hot or powerful man or woman is going to fall in your lap and save you. Your future is yours alone to conquer. The Endwalker walked alone. Empowered by his friends, but still they had to walk that path alone in the end.

@@andyramirez4293 Please don't actually try and do this as a serious thing (assuming you're talking about the real market and not the FF14 one). There are no secret tricks, and most people who claim to be making good money from it are either lying or haven't been doing it for that long. A lot of the time people will start trading during a growing market and wrongly come away thinking that their own skillful trades caused them to profit. Or they just get lucky. But in the long run that luck won't continue. Unlike FF14, real markets are monitored and traded on by algorithms and institutions in real-time. Unless you're Nancy Pelosi and have information lots of other people don't (and by definition any information you can easily find online is information lots of other people have access to), it's not going to reliably make money. (it can still be fine to mess around with if you have some money you're okay with losing, but it's not a good idea to try and make a career, or even significantly supplement your income, with day-trading)

I do remember Aura Kingdom I actually used to play it years before I was able to play FFXIV, I only had a rubbish laptop at the time, until I eventually got a computer capable of playing FFXIV then I actually abadoned Aura Kingdom, but yeah as Op says it's a really bad P2W korean game 😅 Edit: I thought Op was very brave and so respectful even though they would have every right to tear into Avery, instead they chose not too. I really love how chat was so supportive and welcoming and kind towards Op! Well if Avery does watch this and read the comments, that comment is spot on "Avery wash that beanie, touch grass and become better" Indeed and another, be honest! OP's story happened similar to me but not in a 10 year scale. More of like 7 months before I caught it. But he's still ingame and has singlehandedly made enemies of all the lala population (for creep reasons) and raiding community won't even bring him due to being so toxic and he's likely going to get banned at this rate lol But gezz I feel for her.

Yea with the amount of stuff I had to put up with in my life and constantly screaming on the inside….i just don’t date anymore. I have checked out. I don’t believe it’s fair to do that to someone and bring all of those trauma to a spouse who might just walk away from it all.

i can honestly say i side with the guy on certain things, especially when i was younger. certain things she told i can 100% remember me going through. early childhood drama, losing a parent, depression, anxiety, and ptsd can really mess with people. i feel bad for her and i hope he gets the help he needs.

Can we just talk about how "Avery" popped into the stream at the end? I really hope he went back and reflected on how his choices affected people who REALLY cared for him, and that he is reflecting on the fact that they still want him to get his life together and be in a good place even after his lies and the pain he caused them.

Jesus. I'm a kind of heavy guy myself (not anywhere near morbidly obese.) so i get being self concious about it but this guy lied about literally anything. It's insane. He has no personality, he's just saying anything to please other people and to make him look like the nicest & best guy possible... I feel bad for what he went through but he needs help. Professional help. I feel much worse for OP for having to go through all of this. He needs to work for what he wants and not just spout empty words to get what he wants. If he's self concious about his weight, try to lose weight. (I know it's not easy.) If he's broke and needs money, try to earn money. I'm sorry for OP's loss of time. It's very sad to have wasted so much time believing something that was a lie for so damn long. Best of luck. If i was in chaos i'd have loved to join.

The bit at 30:00 where you talk about his face always being blank and having no body language while his voice is lively, I think he is maybe autistic? My niece is like this, and it has been a big struggle for her because she has to actively try to remember to animate her face and body when she speaks, she was teased about it very badly in school and because of this she lacks confidence in speaking to people in person and prefers to interact digitally through text or voice-only communications.

As far as the gil .. it's not as hard as you think to gil cap .. I know quite a few people with it .. if you have lots of time you can do it.

As somebody who you would call fabulously wealthy in FFXIV (as in, gil is not a 'thing' and I'm referred to as a gil dragon from hoarding it), he absolutely did not make that kind of gil that way. The answer he gave to you is the presumed answer everybody thinks is real until they start getting good at making gil.

Sounds like the guy needs some serious mental health guidance and help. Childhood trauma does often lead to child like adults or worse, violent ones. Shes lucky she just found an adult who hadnt grown up. I do pray this guy gets some serious help that he needs so he doesn't live off manipulation for the rest of his life.

OP. If this person's name is Snow or starts with Snow. Hi! I'm Eden! He was a white haired catboy. To add to it, he was white with thin blonde hair. He had a really deep voice and spoke pretty slow. If he liked reading stories to you while you slept as well, then that's totally him. I feel so vindicated. We dated for only about a week and he threatened to unalive himself when I broke up with him. He also never was on cam with me without being in a super dark room and was VERY VERY good with words and a smooth talker.

I hate the thought that this dude is over on NA with me ... bleh
