The waves are huge because the planet Gargantua is in orbit with such strong gravitaional pull. Imagine standing in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean and being able to put your hand on the very bottom almost because the water level where you are standing is sucked up into a wave about the distance from where you are standing all the way to Japan BUT one of the waves is coming towards you fast. The planet they are on is shaped like an EGG because of the gravity pull of Gargantua. It's 1 and 1/3 of Earths gravity which means you throw a baseball in the air and it takes about 3 minutes for it to come back down to you instead of 3 seconds.

ALL My PEOPLE will COME to My MOUNTAIN (in other words, the world I will eventually create) and they WILL SUBMIT BEFORE Me, because I have MAJESTY and JUDGMENT, and I have AUTHORITY. (This refers to when I am in the body. I also have authority, in the human body, but since the limitations of time and space cannot be overcome in the human body, it cannot be said that I have attained full glory. Although t I have gained the firstborn Sons in human flesh, it still cannot be said that I have gained glory. It can only be said that I have authority---that I have gained glory---when I return to Zion and change My form.) Nothing will be difficult for Me. THROUGH WORDS from My MOUTH, ALL will be DESTROYED, and THROUGH WORDS from My MOUTH, ALL WILL EXIST and BE PERFECT. 🙏 Such is My GREAT POWER and such is My AUTHORITY. Because I Am FULL of POWER and FULL of AUTHORITY, no man can dare to hinder Me. I have OVERCOME ALL, and I HAVE TRIUMPHED ALL the SONS of REBELLION. I'M BRINGING My FIRSTBORN CHILDREN to RETURN to ZION. I am NOT alon in RETURNING to ZION. So EVERYONE will SEE My FIRST CHILDREN and thus they WILL HAVE a HEART with RESPECT for Me. When I RETURN to ZION, all THINGS on EARTH will be QUIET, and ALL THINGS UNDER the EARTH will be PEACEFUL. When I RETURN to ZION, EVERYTHING will START AGAIN in its ORIGINAL FORM. Then, I WILL BEGIN My WORK in ZION. I WILL PUNISH the EVIL and REWARD the GOOD, and I EXECUTE My RIGHTEOUSNESS, and I will EXECUTE My JUDGMENT. I will use My WORDS to FULFILL all, CAUSING all people and ALL THINGS to EXPERIENCE My HAND of PUNISHMENT, and I will SHOW all PEOPLE My full GLORY, My full WISDOM, and My full ABUNDANCE . 🙏😪 No one dares to stand up for judge, because in Me, all things are accomplished; and here, let all people see My full glory, and taste My full victory, because to Me everything is visible. From here, My GREAT POWER and My AUTHORITY can be SEEN. No one dares to sin against Me, and no one dares to hinder Me. ALL is REVEALED to Me. Who dares to HIDE ANYTHING? I will certainly SHOW NO MERCY to that PERSON! My severe punishment must meet those shameless ones, and those despicable people must disappear from My sight. I will RULE them with a ROLE of IRON and I WILL USE My AUTHORITY to JUDGE them, without the slightest MERCY and NOT even considering their feelings, because I am God Himself who is emotionless and majestic and who cannot sin in Mine. 😪 Everyone must understand and see this, otherwise I will overthrow and destroy them "without cause or reason," because My staff will overthrow all who sin against Me. I do not care if they know My administrative assignments; he has no value to Me, because My person does not accept the attachment of anyone. This is why it is said that I am a lion; I bring down anyone I touch. That is why it is said that it is now blasphemy to say that I Am the God of mercy and kindness. That is, I Am NOT a LAMB, BUT a LION. NO one DARE to SIN against Me; anyone who SINS against Me, I will PUNISH with DEATH, immediately and without MERCY! This is enough to show My DISPOSITION. So in the END AGE a LARGE GROUP of PEOPLE will retreat, and it WILL be HARD for PEOPLE to bear it, but for Me, I am COMFORTABLE and HAPPY, and I don't even consider it a difficult task. Such is My disposition. The THINGS I HAVE DECIDED I HAVE FULFILLED, and anyone who goes against them will be punished immediately. I have EVERYTHING I NEED in ZION and EVERYTHING I want. There is NO indication of the WORLD in ZION, and COMPARED to the WORLD, it is a PALACE, RICH and LUXURIOUS; but NO ONE has entered it yet, that's why; in human imagination, it doesn't even exist. LIFE in ZION is NOT LIKE LIFE on EARTH; on EARTH, LIFE is EATING, CLOTHES, PLAYING, and FINDING PLEASURE, whereas it is very different in ZION. This is the LIFE of the FATHER and the CHILDREN full of JOY, ALWAYS FILLING the EXTENSIVENESS of the UNIVERSE, but ALWAYS coming TOGETHER--together at the same TIME. 🙏 From "The WORD Appears in the Flesh" (John 1:1). 🦁THE GOSPEL OF THE WORD OF ALMIGHTY GOD "the last age in which God is saving man from the imminent destruction of this old world" (Zion! Rejoice! Zion! Sing out loud! All created! Stop now, because the whole universe is in front of My person and is showing the East of the world! Who dares to not call Me true God? My people will hear My voice, and My children will alive in My kingdom! This is My wonderful work, and more than that, this is My great power! This is the main objective of My six thousand year reign plan, and this is what I have appointed. Through words from My mouth, all will be destroyed, and through words from My mouth, all will exist and be perfect. I'm bringing My firstborn children to return to Zion. So everyone will see My first children and thus they will have a heart with respect for Me. This is My purpose for having first-born children, and this been My plan since the creation of the world. When I return to Zion, everything will start again in its original form. I will punish the evil and reward the good, and will execute My righteousness, and I will execute My judgment. From here, My great power and My authority can be seen. So in the end age a large group of people will retreat, and it will be hard for people to bear it, but for Me, I am comfortable and happy, and I don't even consider it a difficult task. Such is My disposition. I hope that all people will have submission hearts to follow all the comes from Me, I will definitely bless mankind greatly, because as I said, those who agree with Me will kept, while who oppose Me will be destroyed.) Almighty God said ZION! Rejoice! Zion! SING out LOUD! I'm back WINNER, I'm back SUCCESSFUL! ALL races! QUICKLY line up! ALL created! Who DARES not STAND a in RESPECT? Who DARES not GIVE a COMPLIMENT? Who dares NOT to SHOUT cheers? My PEOPLE will HEAR My VOICE, and My CHILDREN will ALIVE in My KINGDOM! 🙏 MOUNTAINS, RIVERS and ALL THINGS will EXCEED, UNCEASINGLY, and LEAP UNSTOPPINGLY. At this time, no one dares to retreat, and no one dares to stand up in resistance. This is My WONDERFUL WORK, and MORE than that, this is My GREAT POWER! I WILL MAKE ALL RESPECT Me in their HEARTS and, MORE than this, I will make ALL PRAISE Me! This is the MAIN OBJECTIVE of My SIX THOUSAND YEAR REIGN PLAN, and this is what I have APPOINTED. 🙏 Not a single person nor thing nor event dares to stand up to fight or oppose Me. This is My PURPOSE for having FIRST-BORN children, and this has been My PLAN since the CREATION of the WORLD. 🛑 🙏 When ALL are READY, that is the DAY I RETURN to ZION, and ALL NATIONS will REMEMBER this DAY. I HOPE that ALL PEOPLE will have SUBMISSION HEARTS to FOLLOW ALL that COMES from Me; then, I will DEFINITELY BLESS mankind GREATLY, because, as I said, those who AGREE with Me will be KEPT, while those who OPPOSE Me will be DESTROYED. ☀️ I have APPOINTED it, and NOTHING can CHANGE it. (Ezekiel 2:9-10). (Rev. 19:13). 📩 Calling and leading everyone to His lowered Kingdom or Church because it is still standing on earth in the holy place in the air/ youtube "THE CHURCH OF ALMIGHTY GOD 💐 this is the fulfillment of what He said to Peter 2,000 years ago, recorded in (Mat. 16:18'19). This is the the only Church of each one of our spirit that we must listen to or eat and drink like how we eat, dress and sleep every day so that He can guide us and change us by rejecting the evil attached by Satan so as to be perfect, having attained eternal life that will enter the coming replacement of the New Heaven and New Earth. 📥

Man. This 8 minute sequence illustrates the brilliance of Nolan films. By using enough practical filming in the foreground, and saving the CGI for the background, it allows the audience to develop a better connection in my mind. The use of sound and music add to the emotional experience, they make you feel as though something ominous and scary is coming (which it is), and good scripts make the stakes higher, with the loss of Doyle. Theatres are clamoring for movies right now, they need to do a Nolan night, a few of his greats and perhaps Tenet to help right off the loss on that one.

And for once, the name "Tidal wave" actually is accurate. These aren't waves caused by planetary displacement or motion - they're waves caused by literal *gravity tides* from the black hole's interaction with the planet's gravity. That's why the Ranger is pulled up the face of the wave - the black hole's gravity is overcoming the planet's gravity. Once the gravity wave passes, though.... it's a very long way back down. That's probably how their predecessor got wrecked... and because of the time dilation, it likely happened only local minutes before they showed up.

My one nit pick with this scene is that after re-watching it a few times it feels like Doyle could have made it back inside. He got to the Ranger first. Then for some reason he just sort of stood there and waited for Case and Brand to get in first. It felt like he had time to jump in first and then Case and Brand could have jumped in right behind him. I always felt like they could have come up with some better reason for Doyle to get delayed by about 30 seconds or something behind Case and Brand. Just a small nit pick.

Also the water's not deep enough to support a wave that high without it breaking. A wave needs 1.5 times its height to support it which is why waves break as they approach the shore or a reef.

In many scenes it's real too. Hardly used cgi for it. That's why it looks so great in this film. Just had a person in green tights controlling it.

For me. This movie is a masterpiece. It changed the way I view the subject of love, time, and those that surround us. Some amazing life lessons were on this movie. Took me years and years after its release to realize and understand the purpose of this movie. One of the best movies, in my opinion, in cinematic history. Once again. Just my opinion. Was just hands down, a great movie.

I watch all Chris Nolan movies in best iMax so I never regret. (You can never watch a movie for the first time again.) But I actually did think it unnecessary to watch Oppenheimer in iMax. This scene transports you into another planet showcasing original robot AI technology. Felt so immersed and full of anxiety during this scene.

The other little thing that irked me with this part was that the in between "swells" that they were in the water would not be calm like that. It would have some sort of rip tide effect or major current/movement.
