Why is it souspicious. The SD did not contain anything dangerous. They must have give the SD back and his equipment right after they saw it, and let him free with a notice that drones are not permitted. Just that. If they didn't do that must have been for some other reason.

The easiest way here to spot criminals is to ask the same kind questions again and again after confusing you and check whether the answers are consistent with what you have said at the beginning and all day through! If you were interrogated by Toronto Police in Canada for 11 hours, you would get a cheese sandwich, that's 2 slices of white bread with a slice of processed cheese along with a juice box. They would have probably have found something to charge you with, they have a quota system in Toronto to keep up in order to continue getting $1+billion per year. Be glad it was India.
