It’s been a year since your comment, I bet you already got that out of your way 😉 But tips I can give you is to work on couple convo starters to throw anytime and be a good listener, people like to talk more about themselves and while listening check what are their areas of interests and find some common ground to engage in long form conversation. My mentor talks often on being good at informational interviews which is basically how to engage with people and get to know them.
