Lee's Team v Fuzzy's Team for the Marley Trophy

Terry Wogan is in his usual bubbling form, while Trevor Brooking, away from his West Ham United and England soccer duties, shows he is no stranger to the golf course.

Yes...a single sponsor. Not over glorified. Just folks having a giggle playing a wonderful game. Peter Allis and Terry Wogan were fantastic with the English language. Won't see the likes of them again.

Would be the same with Peter Alliss....unfortunately
Watching this with mum and dad on Sunday evenings back in the day, great memories.
I could watch these all day.
Bring back many memories of my late father and I watching this back in the day.
4 iron 150yards!! How times have changed.

As my old mother used to say: "he's a potato on two matchsticks".
Just look at the glazed look of Fuzzy when Peter and Terry start their banter at the begining of the show. Priceless!
Wogan using a Silver Swan putter by the looks of it. Great times and a brilliant TV show. Its what Sunday evenings were made for back in the day.

Hi Chris I played Gleneagles in 1983. Four courses back then The Kings , Queens , Princes and Glendevon. I believe Jack Nicklaus built the new course used for the Ryder Cup using the land from Princes and Glendevon. Can you believe the green fee for the day which was for a major course Kings or Queens and a minor course Princes or Glendevon was £15 for 36 holes. Needless to say I had a fabulous week. Happy days.
Pure gold. Trevino… every recorded swing is precious. Thankyou.
This takes me back. Lovely stuff
I can’t believe how well these players hit the ball with the clubs they had to use…incredible 👍🏼👍🏼
Thanks a lot for putting this up! Brilliant memories
'Muscular shoulders, little square...legs akimbo' Peter Alliss was an absolute gem off a broadcaster

“They came to laugh and they stayed to applaud.” Indeed he was a gem of a broadcaster.
Thanks so much for posting , looking forward this bit of nostalgia
Lived in Auchterarder just down the road from Gleneagles and this used to be the highlight of our summers. We used to eagerly await the programme being shown to see if we could see ourselves on TV. In 1883 my brother and I became marker boys for Tom Watson and Greg Norman.
I thing TW's putt here held the record for the longest televised putt in until recently when Michael Phelps hit one 159 ft
Thanks for posting. I was lucky enough to play the King's course on a beautiful evening in August. Many of the holes and their names were very familiar to me from having watched these matches back in the day. Magical place
thanks for posting.
I remember watching this when first broadcast. The longest putt Peter Allis had seen in his life from WOGAN. Fantastic

it was the world record for the longest televised putt for 31 years until Michael Phelps the swimmer beat it in 2012, incredible.
Golf had a different feeling about it in those days. Can't explain it but it did.
Trevor Brooking what a gifted footballer and lovely man 👌
More time has passed from then till now than from the second world war till then. Wow time flies and I'm getting old.
This is back when men played football and golf 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
It sounded like TW's putter was made of glass 🤣 I remember playing with persimmon headed woods 🤦♂️
Happy memories watching this live with my Dad, the dulcet tones of Peter Alliss and the occasional terrible shot from the celebrities... love it.. thanks for posting this... got any "Around with Alliss"?

Saw some 'Around with Alliss' episodes on KZread earlier this year, one with Terry Wogan.
This is great I just watched an English golf channel play a four person match in August of 2023 on the Kings course and this course is absolutely beautiful. In fact they said there were 3 courses at Glen Eagles . Was there 3 courses when this video was made ?
Realky enjoyed that. The days when people had individual but effective swings, unlike todays robots who are all coaches by the same people
Played the Kings and Queens many years ago. Brilliant courses.
Those were the days. Something decent on the Beeb.
Smashing!
Oh joy , uploaders a god

Huh, I tend to say that a lot myself lately. Lol
A little of Fuzzy Zoeller goes a long way doesn't it!
Wogans put was longest recorded on tv for over 40 years
This is wonderful, simple times, anyone got a time machine?

Wogan with his hat glued to keep his wig on.
Sadly none of Fuzzy Zoeller’s team is still with us.

I loved what he said on the last green before he hit his putt. "It's only a little 3 footer stretched out!"
Terry Wogan was a master long putter!
Astonishing fever dream of tv
Great to see Fuzzy a real top man, makes one remark about fried chicken 🐔 and disappears off the face of the planet 🌏 very sad 😔
Lee and Fuzzy are both characters
Fuzzy shouldn't go into motivational speaking. 😂
Jimmy tarbrush and Bruce fivesyth 😳🙄😳🤯
Omg.... Enjoying re watching this since it was originally aired and realising that they are all dead.

Doesn't make an ounce of sense anymore, money, does it?
The clubs seem to be small ! ?
Yup fuzzy zoeller was a knob back then too
Sir Trevor Brooking talking absolute nonsense. 45:35 for many years this was the longest putt ever recorded on BBC television.
Mark Thatcher .....jeezo
Was wogan bald? 🤔

I'd be none too impressed if Fuzzy was my partner. No shots for the amateurs and he's taking the p*ss out of their game?

Celebrity? I’m old enough but never heard of those two. Soccer,/football to me is ridiculous. The media mogul doesn’t ring any bells. Guessing they scraped the barrels for players.

Trevor Brooking was one of the most well-known British footballers and pundits. I'd surprised if people hadn't at least heard of him. To never heard of Terry Wogan is ridiculous if you're in the UK. If you're not then it's less likely. but would be like an American not knowing heard about Bob Hope.
