    It depends on which specialty you want to chose. Once you pass MRCP, PLAB will not add anything to it. Choose PLAB if you are unsure whether you want to do medicine or any other specialty.MD +MRCP will definitely be a better option if you want to do medicine.

I've heard regarding core competencies which required to get signed in order to apply for speciality training. Also there are some controversy regarding whether Indian doctors signed core competencies are valid ? after one has done MD/DNB medicine. If not then how much time one has to spend in UK to get them signed by professional UK doctor? Mam, I'm a follower of your channel from start. You're doing a amazing job by making these informational videos. Ty!

    Hi Pratish There is alternative core competency certificate that needs to be signed by a consultant. There are specific criteria for doctors who can sign this off for you.This is to prove that you are at par with the UK doctors who are also applying for specialty training. You would need at least 6 months to one year of NHS experience to get them signed off. I will be uploading a video on specialty training soon.

  • @AceurMRCP

    @AceurMRCP

    2 жыл бұрын

    Hi Dr Jodhani The MTI OBG pathway is slightly different from MTI Medicine. Irrespective of your visa status, you will not be eligible to apply for MTI once you are in the UK as it is mandatory for you to be in your home country for the entire duration if the MTI application process. If you are considering MTI, I would strongly suggest to stay in India during your application process. It is a common misconception that you cannot apply for MTI in a dependent visa. You can do so if are still in your home country. Alternatively, you may complete all parts of MRCOG and then get GMC registered to start working in the UK. All the best Aparajita

Some saying that it can be done ) does he/she become the member of royal College of physicians? Like they get degree or certificate? After MRCP you told to go for CCT training is it like super speciality training in India? After CCT doctors can apply for fellowship programs ? If someone wants to settle in India then should he go for MRCP just for the sake of fame as this doesn't add to the academic degrees in India

    Hi Ayan 1. Correct. You get a degree titled MRCP which stands for Member of the royal college of physicians. You can be do all three parts from India. 2.Correct. CCT is like DM training in India. 3.Correct. If you want to settle in India you may not wish to do MRCP. But it is a very good exam. It polishes your clinical skills and makes you a better doctor.

    Hi Meenakshi The candidate has to apply for a visit visa to appear for his exam. They can do that once they have received a confirmation for the exam. Presently, there are long waiting times for PACES in the UK. Also, it might be very overwhelming for an international doctor with no previous experience to take the exam in the UK.

    Thankyou Dr. Roy. Would it be possible for you to tell us about the similarities and differences between the training programme in the UK and India. I mean the actual medical training, not the fees and other non medical stuff. I have completed my mbbs from India. If I pursue PLAB followed by the IMT route, will I be able to return to India and practice medicine efficiently in India? I understand that on paper, MRCP is considered equal to MD medicine, but can someone trained in UK deal with the Indian population? IMT training in uk is only an initial training to get into speciality trainings. If I just get my CCT and return to India, I will be a consultant on paper. But will I have the required skills?

  • @AceurMRCP

    @AceurMRCP

    Жыл бұрын

    You have asked a very valid question. The UK training is structured to a large extent for the NHS. However, the practical hands on medicine is quite rigorous and there are many examples of doctors who have done their CCT from the UK and then gone back to India to practice. You will acquire the clinical skills undoubtedly but the patient population, behaviour patterns , and colleague support would be very different. So it is all about flexibility and adaptation to diverse cultures.

    Hi Depends on which speciality you want to pursue. Since you already have extensive experience in Orthopaedics, MRCS would be the natural choice. However, if you want to retrain in Medicine and Cardiology, you have to start at a much junior level i.e. F1/SHO which is similar to Internship of Housejob level and then retrain entirely in Medicine. Is there any specific reason why you are thinking of switiching?
