    This video will help me so much as I begin my self reties. I have 344 microlocs. Almost two yrs locked. Going to a Loctician and paying $175. without a wash is not in my budget no more. I found the same tool you use at Walmart for $2. Thanks for the video!

    Loved the fact that you are not obsessive about any of it and your approach is relaxed and “just do it!”. Very informative and very well done! I see that your braid pattern is not as obvious as it was in the beginning. It’s locing very nicely and yes I would love to see a video on how you make your tool. The end of it is so smooth you would never know that it was shortened.

    Thank you very much for this tutorial! I’m about to start my microlocks by myself (this month I think) and it’s a relief to hear “I just do it as it works for me”! I was afraid to mess up my entire hair just because of my decision to have microlocks! Thank you again, and of course your hair is beautiful!!!!

    So you are going in from North to South or South to North than east to west or west to east. One point is North to South and point 2 is East to west. Just be sure you are going in a criss cross pattern. I hope that makes sense.

    YOU ARE THE BOMB! I SUBBED FO SHO! I am mid back and been wanting to do microlocs diy for the last several years but too afraid on not doing it right. I realize it’s not about right, it’s about confidence in myself and not wanting to fork over hundreds and thousands for what I know I can do myself. YOU GOT ME PUMPED! My cycle week is my time for me because my husband leaves me ALONE. Sit looks like once a month is for me. Im Ready. I going to clarify my hair and start my micro twist. My only thing is that I like loose ends (maybe 2 inches worth) because my Paul Mitchell ‘The Conditioner’ gives my ends the most beautiful curl pops on the end. My question to you is, if I start my lock journey with two strand micro twist , what’s way, in your unprofessional opinion would you make a demarcation from the micro twist to the loose end? My thought is to tie a knot to end the micro twist two inches from my loose end. This look I plan on dying with, I am not one to go back and forth, I been in minitwist for 20 years on and off only because I was afraid of interlocking my roots myself……..until now…….I’m not afraid anymore. but I’d like your suggestion about a google method to lock keep my end portion loose to keeping it curly on the ends of my soon to be microloc journey started with two strand twist or maybe perhaps micro braids may be even better??? Can’t figure this out, please help!

    Hahaha!!! Hey there! I’m glad you’re deciding to move forward on locs. I don’t think you will regret it one bit. Now as for loose ends, I’m not sure what to tell you to do with that. Me starting with braids, I never had to worry about unraveling. Mine are braided close to the ends and is still fairly loose at the very end. I feel like a twist will be harder to keep together but can definitely be done. Good luck to you! Be patient with yourself and don’t take anything about this journey too seriously. I’m the end it’s just hair. Have fun!! Let me know how it goes :)

    Do you find the thickness changes from doing a4 point to a2 point. Thicker on the bottom of the loc verses the root? I’m trying to figure out what I need to do because I’ve noticed thinning at the root and I have Sisterlock which were started with a4 point rotation.

  • @ItsCinnaMe

    @ItsCinnaMe

    2 жыл бұрын

    I have pretty much done a 2 point rotation the entire time except for my first 2 retires that we’re done my locticians. I do have a few that are thinner than at the root then when they were started but I don’t think it’s from the rotation. I think mine came from friction, locking hair together from a neighboring Loc and pulling it apart or running my fingers through it too roughly at the root and pulling hairs out of the loc. That’s what I think anyway for me. But to answer your question .. I don’t notice any difference from the 4 point part to the 2 point part for me.

  • @KimarieVIP

    You're constantly manipulating the root-to-3 in he's of new growth. It's going to appear tighter, not as thick, etc, than the rest of the loc...especially if you don't palm roll the length of the loc as you go.

    I have a couple questions beautiful…………. 1. When your loctitian started your braids was your hair wet or dry? 2. Did she use any type of cream, oil, wax or conditioner as she was braiding or was it straight up clarified with no add-ons? 3. I remember you said your loctician was going to do a four point rotation when interlocking your roots but here you say you do a 2 point rotation…………did she ever do the 4 point rotation or has your root’s been 2 point rotated since the first interlock? I ask to find out did the change of rotation damage or weaken your locs at all? 4. What I’m most nervous about is my poo/light condition for the first time………if I choose to poo/condition once a month and choose to interlock the roots once a month (my hair grows fast and thick) I imagine right after the poo/condition/oil i should go ahead and interlock my roots while they are still damp? What would you suggest? 5. Last question…………….You said to keep your grid kinda neat you do something like a finger comb at the roots daily, do you still do that?

  • @ItsCinnaMe

    @ItsCinnaMe

    Жыл бұрын

    Lol. Ok so here goes… 1. My hair was blow dried for my installation. You can see that in my installation video on my channel! 2. I washed and conditioned my hair before the install and then blow dried. No products added to my hair at all for my install. 3. My loctician did my first 3 reties and I’m pretty sure she did a 4 point rotation. I never asked. Lol. I don’t see any difference from my 2 point rotation to what she did the first 3 reties. That was 3 and a half years ago now. Lol. No weakening of my locs at all. 4. I have done my reties both before and after I washed. I lean more towards doing reties before I wash so my roots aren’t as tangled. I don’t use any products at all to retie but I do spray my roots lightly with a spray bottle just to help smooth and clean the parts. The water helps to do that. Many like to retie after wash because for some the hair gets frizzy after a wash and they want to preserve the “fresh retie” look for as long as they can. That’s not a huge issue for me and my hair type. 5. When I say I do nothing to my hair, I do NOTHING to my hair. Hahaha! I wash every few weeks, I condition now that! I’m 4 years in ( I did not the first 2 years), add a bit of oil before I braid for a braidout and spray with water if I’m not doing my braid out just after a wash ( which I normally do). That’s it! Once the braid out is done I do nothing at all to it until it’s time to wash again! I sleep on a satin pillowcase so no bonnet or anything! It’s what I love most about my decision to start locs! I hope this helps. :)

    @@ItsCinnaMe I think that they asked this because they were wanting to know if it's best to wash your hair and then retie it because it's usually best to do it in that order so they your retie stays looking fresh and not all frizzy and loosen up right after retightening it.Most people don't want that right after getting a fresh retie, unless they don't really care about the fresh retie look were the parts are more visible. Plus when your small locs are newer they tend to frizz more and have slippage at the ends and roots sometimes. I know that if I wash my baby locs right after I do a fresh retie, it looks as if I never retightened it and looks supper frizzy at the roots. I don't mind that looks about 2 weeks after, but don't want that look right after a fresh retie.
