▬▬ OUR STORY ▬▬
We are a multigenerational sailing channel with 2 boats and 1 collective dream of crossing oceans.
Meet Mick, Kate and their 2 boys Thomas and Bentley aboard Meraki a Stan Huntingford Explorer 45. An Aussie/Canadian family who dreamed of living life differently and took the leap into sailing life during COVID and have never looked back. Sailing from beautiful BC, Canada down to Mexico and then across the Pacific, through the South Pacific islands onwards to Australia and BEYOND!
You'll also get to know Kevin and Shawna (parents to Kate) aboard M2 a TransPac 49'. They've had had a lifelong dream to sail the world and are currently in the Caribbean with big plans to transit the Panama Canal very soon!
While the original goal was to be visiting anchorages together, life had different plans. With one boat being purchased in the Pacific NorthWest and the other acquired in the Caribbean we've been waiting out Hurricane season in separate Oceans.. but the reunion is going to be OH, SO, SWEET!
Explore the world through our eyes on our sailboat adventure of a lifetime! Let us take you with us on this journey to the next destination.
If you love adventure and want to see more you're in the right place.

No generator? Filling up jerry water cans? What's up with that? The water around Nuku Hiva was diiiiirty from all the rain and instead of dirtying up our filters we were fortunate enough to have access to potable water in almost every village we visited. We have been using a small 12v watermaker since leaving Canada, it's an old model that only produces about 3 gallons an hour. Of course we would love to have a generator and bigger better watermaker but there is also something to be said about simple systems that are budget friendly. We are budget travellers and so keeping things simple (aka cheap) is our mission. While we have lots of spare parts on the boat sourcing large items (generators, watermakers, fridges, etc) is extremely challenging and extremely expensive in the remote corners of the world that we are exploring. So unless it's a vital item that needs replacing we simply don't have the budget for lots of extras/would be nices.. and we are totally a-ok with that! We're just so darn thankful to be out here exploring and making memories as a family. We hope that helps answer some of the burning questions we have been receiving :)

I came here on my phone to comment (after watching the episode on our tv) and you already answered my question 😊 we left Canada a month ago sailing in “dirty plankton water” and are learning fast about watermaker filters 😂 will be picking up a case of them in San Francisco!!!

Aloha from Hawaii. My husband and I are thoroughly enjoying your videos and appreciate how you enjoy connecting with the locals. I think it only enhances your experience. What memories you are creating for them! Maybe not let the kiddos play on the mounds by the stone figures as the area may be considered sacred. We appreciate how your boys really get excited about the simple things like how good pomelos are, or arriving at anchor and also how they befriend just about any animal they come in contact with. 🥰🥰🥰so sweet. Finally, your tataus (tattoos) look amazing!🤙🏼

Wow! A Lord of the Flies moment at 25:47! But what a great hike. On-shore exercise is soooo important when sailing - and so rewarding when they're awe-inspiring. How to the boys like the prospect of a 14km hike? Thanks for a brilliant video.

Adventurous episode of traveling and exploring! With some thrills and scares. Loved the breadfruit, also that big stalk of bananas hanging proudly from your vessel. Yeah, King Kong might once have lived on that island. And I think there might still be some cannibals hiding inside that tree at 25:24. Hope M2 gets fixed up soon! Thanks for sharing.

I’m so glad you noticed the bananas. Such an epic part of FP - the gifts of entire banana stocks. Then comes the eating of said bananas 😂 I think we got our potassium intake for the entire year. Haha

Haha yep good point. We collect rainwater in buckets some times too but don’t have a dedicated set up yet. After spending a very dry year and a half in Mexico it’s not something we have needed until now. All these things take time ;)
