Just bought this game, 3rd armoured division smacks but I have no clue what i'm doing. Rlly fuckin good game. How are you using artillery so effectively? My arty won't target anything, maybe they're not far enough idk.

You can use artillery "smart orders" to set them to fire on any enemy unit that enters an area you designate, to fire at will, or to fire at enemy artillery (counter-battery). For self-propelled artillery units, veteran players will usually queue up a movement order (shift-click) after giving a fire order, so that the artillery unit will automatically relocate after firing their first salvo, which helps protect against enemy counter-battery fire.

I would say biggest thing is hot keys they will make micoring a lot easier ....and I mean a lot
I truly despise urgans and buratinos. More than any other unit I lose to those two. It is not uncommon in games for 25-50% of all my losses to be to these two units and they kill everything, from the lowest infantry to the heaviest of tanks. And there is absolutely nothing you can do about it. Just bring in some 105mm or bigger on counter battery and pray they only get one game changing volley off.

I mean, the Buratino will vaporize infantry blobs, but it's not really good at much else. It also has VERY short range for an artillery unit. Uragan has no armor and is pretty vulnerable to counter-battery fire.

@Juni Bug its range is largely immaterial. It's not so short range it gets scouted, or is at risk of being hit by a tank or even AT missile. The counter to it is the exact same as an artillery piece with 40k range. Another artillery piece on counter battery. To some extent longer range pieces are actually easier to kill. They're often floating in the back, completely unprotected. Maybe the idea is they're supposed to be vulnerable to airstrikes but AA is so damn potent you're using a 200+ point plane to blind strike an unscouted launch position at a chance your opponent carelessly didn't move it, at the almost guaranteed cost of the plane. Because again, its not so far forward or back that its not entirely under the cover of the AA net.
