Ойын-сауық

Gang Seo High School / Shin Il High School / Hanil High School / Cheong Shim International Academy / 강서고등학교 / 신일고등학교 / 한일고등학교 / 청심국제고등학교
On the first episode of "Intelligence - High School Debate," students from Gang Seo High School, Shin Il High School, Hanil High School and Cheong Shim International Academy debate over the motion "This House should lower the voting age to 16."
The 19th South Korean presidential election recently took place, and the voting age, which is currently 19 in Korea, has subsequently become an issue being discussed in the country. The right to vote is a fundamental human right. Should this right be extended to 16-year-olds?
Each speaker is given 5 minutes to persuade the judges while dealing with sharp POIs from the fellow debaters. Which two teams will make it to the semifinal round of the tournament this week?

The point of a debate is to verbally express your opinions and articulate it with proper vocabulary and to be heard coherently so it can be argued against or supported for. This seems counterproductive on a fundamental level (speakers trying to find the right words or express them) but it is great to see this type of practice continue.

The fact that the legal age to marriage which is 16.. Marriage is itself a sense of responsibility & being mature so if korea could do "THE SAME" then obviously voting is noting against it. It will be an asset also for the students and NEW to the students to be met with the REAL political world rather than JUST reading politics in the school in a non practical way.The students will get recognized to a new field as in Korea the only thing the people give importance to mugging up studies. Going into the political world will also be an advantage to be an open-minded and give a sense of choice to the students at a early age which is also an asset if he/she wants to marry.

I don’t want CHO seung-yeon to be engaged as a judge in this debate!!! He was so rude and didn’t know his job!!! I hate how he criticised the first guy’s speech!! The first guy who gave his speech had a really strong British accent which I kind of liked it by the way!! Cho seung-yeon was so stupid because he couldn’t understand the speech and always gave useless comments !! He shouldn’t have been in the competition anymore!!!!

The writer judge was the only one who couldn't understand the prime minister British accent, he was amazing! The best speaker of all of them!! Achieving that accent must have been really difficult, maybe the writer should spend more time abroad , because his pronunciation was pretty bad, he shouldn't be a judge in the first place!! 😤

I know of certain countries where even if given the right to participate in the making of government especially the children who have reached the voting age just follow along their families not using their individual rights. And the most important thing of all is society is not as it is in books and papers and Medias it's more darker than one think and theres a set of unspoken rules when it comes to politics.

I support the opposition. You guys might not know, many of us have to take our GCSEs when we are 16 and it is definitely a very crucial year for us in our academics and you ask us to vote at the age of 16? We should not simply be a follower of a global trend or to even generalize all countries. As the opposition also mentioned that every country has a different cultural background that led to the different laws we have in each country so shouldn't we decide our voting age according to the nature of the laws. You talk about democracy but do you know that actually saying that you want to vote at the age of 16 is just a feeling of authority to yourself? To show everyone that you are good enough to vote and decide which party you want as government. To ask my 16-year-old self, I definitely do not know who should I vote for.however I understand the consequences of my vote, the government may be changed and till that time you felt that you actually made a wrong vote. Or even your government may be corrupted that your vote allowed them to continue the action of corruption, I would be very remorseful and feel that actually, I am too young to vote. As the opposition leader mentioned about the ban of alcohol and cigarette on students which has already made it clear that students are not as clear-minded as the 18 and above so what evidence can the prime minister take to support the law that a 16-year-old can vote? Political ideologies are not openly discussed and hold a huge sense of secrecy how can a 16-year-old us differentiate between what is wrong and what is right. Should we follow our parents vote, should we listen to the speeches made by those in the elections that would most probably go like 'IF we win the upcoming election WE WOULD....' Honestly this is not a good debate.

Sometimes adults are just as immature as a child. But there are young adults who is born greater or wiser than an adult. There are many young adults that have proven themselves. Even if they say students are meant for studying. Aren't we in the real world already? It doesn't mean because you are an adult you "experienced" everything. Not all. We people are not born to be in the same life or situation.
