    When making that kind of power, only the tuner should be and the only one who NEEDS to be in the dyno room. But that's just an obvious risk to be in there, people die in far stuiper ways (pun intended).... And being killed is an over exaggeration but absolutely is a possibility, it never is not..... Think about that 😂

    The latest video of Brett lasalas car on the dyno you can see the plasma man intake bulge under 45-50psi. The bust panel should be on top of these intakes. Any pop would want to go up not back. Frankenstein needs to do some rework on that intake, the flexing under boost isn’t good It burped back through the intake. No denying that. the fireball. And blowing the lid off. Shit happens. Keep killing it 💪🏻

    PSI is truly irrelevant, you see the size of that turbo! 2200HHP (I honestly don't know what hub dynos are considered, "brake horsepower" would make sense but that one's already taken for the.... Crank 😂 so hub hp) that intake was an oversight IMO, could very well have install error, one bolt or seal or manufacturer fail, only takes a little bit for the burst panel to not be the weak link! It's also a bust panel, not exactly a pressure relief..... Also what was the cause.... For the price of that manifold, it should definitely be replaced but when you're shoving 20lbs of shit in a 5 pound bag, shit is definitely going to happen!

    5000.00 intake with a burst panel and the only thing on it that didn’t break was the burst panel. I say Frankenstein owes you an intake. I know “shit happens” and breaking parts is to be expected, but that overly priced fancy billet crap did exactly what it was designed to NOT do. I’ve seen 1000.00 cast Holley high rams do the same thing, but at least they’re a 1/5 of the price.

    That is aluminum fatigue right there. Every time that manifold cycled into and out of boost it stressed the seat under the bolts. For infinite life you cannot go over 50% yield or that will happen. Same reason we do not run aluminum rockers forever.

  • @mfree80286
    @mfree802864 ай бұрын

    Just looking at the manifold and the damage I can see that it's a design flaw... the upper half is flexing outward (up) because it's not reinforced, and that's going to put a hell of a shear load on those side fasteners AND the bosses, which are milled recessed, thin, and aluminum in an area where the surface is going to get dinged up. It's full of stress risers, and every time that intake inflates it's cycling that little bit of material. Metal fatigue... one cracked, the next ones got extra force and cracked, and just zippered it's way around until it was free. It needs at the very minimum a spreader plate inside, or some manner of internal gusseting around the join so that the inflation that pulls in the sides can't actually move them around enough to fatigue the bosses in that way. It's late and I'm still not sure I'm explaining it coherently, but when the upper inflates and stretches up, the sides want to yank inwards. Stop the bulge or stop the yank, and you stop the cracks.

  • @niebsimsport567

    I think it just boils down to surface area. Psi is pounds per square inch. Idk what the burst panel should pop at psi or pounds of force wise but since it's such a smaller amount of area compared to the top of the manifold it doesn't see near the amount of force. For example if the manifold top is 8" by 16 (idk actual dimensions but that might be close), that's 160 square inches times 42psi of boost. The top is seeing 5300 pounds of force pushing against it. The burst panel is maybe 3" x 5", 15 square inches times 42 psi, it's only seeing 600 pounds of force. Sorry it's long but thats what I think the issue is with this style of intake and burst panels not working. You may have thought this already too.

    Oh that's right you guys' are in Maryland.. I have been looking for a shop to Whipple or VMP my PP Manual 17 GT.. Not looking for big numbers' I want to keep her as stock as I can to save on money.. (But more importantly I want to roll through NJ Inspection every 2 years without issue.) (So that means stock cats and header's and a 100 HP less and I am ok with that.. I don't want short or long tube headers, or the Cats out, nor do I want E85.. I live in NJ and don't want to drive 25 miles out of my way with blue jugs in my trunk for Ejuice..) So what kind of power am I limited to on 93 with a Supercharger? 600 Wheel 650?? I have been looking at Whipple and VMP but I don't want to lose my Strut brace either.. I definitely want screws for the instant torque which is hard on the MT82 but I am already looking at a Ben Calimer MT82 Stage 2 upgrade for down the road.. My greatest fear is dropping my car off at a shop or National in Virginia or some place like that, then not seeing my car again for 3 months.. I am looking to pay for everything up front extra even but I want my car back at the end of the week Done, SC'ed and tuned in under a work week.. I don't want to deal with the we are waiting on parts or bs like Oh we have to send the fuel pumps back they are bad BS. Or we are waiting on the Machine shop. I think National Racing in VA are great! I am not talking about them per say... I am talking about the other shops like them, that show Video's of their shop putting a whipple stage 2 kit in, "In 1 8hr work day", then day 2 they are going over everything and putting the Base Tune in for the set up! So in just 2 day's it's on and drivable. By day 3 they are doing pull's with the tuner dialing it in further and by day 5 the car should be Dialed, Done! And fully tuned ready to take home!! Not saying they are like that but a lot of these Big shops once they get your money and your car will throw your car to the side while they take care of their friends first.. I guess what I am getting at is where do I go to get treated just as good as someone who has over a million sub's or an influencer!! Will I get the same treatment?? Example, When Cleetus or Kyle from boosted boys blow a motor, or heads within a week someone has already got the block and is rebuilding it, or new and better one is already in the mail or at least being worked on.. Like I am not trying to give someone my car so it can get put in the lot to sit for 3/4 months while they are working on every other car but mine. That is my greatest fear...I just want to drop my car off with a shop on Monday and go pick it back up that Friday and be safe and great for daily driving and because I am not looking for more than 650 WHP, like anything over 620 WHP would be fine with me. Don't want to be beat by 4 banger Turbo's is all I am asking for.... LOL...

    A intake that cost that much money should not be doing that. Never seen a 4150 and Wilson elbow do that……

    Oceangate failure, as they are now known. Hand laid or comp laid shit will only take soo many cycles, depending on how hard they are hit quickly. Burst panel didn't need to go on that one, Other shit "went" in it's place. Glad Y'all dodgeballed the shrapnel. Clear the dyno area in a hard pull. Get behind HD shit if your close.

    Now I understand why people put a $100 bill on the burst panel. Nothing is going to happen to it. It's safe. 😂

    This won't be popular statement but E85 in cars to me is like people taking steroids... I want a pump gas streetcar not a race car with special race fuel.. I would rather deal with the 100 to 150 less HP than do that E-juice to my car.. If it was at every gas station in NJ I would probably want it.. I am already impressed with what the car is making on 91/93. Now if I had a track or race car than I would want the special Juice in her.. But because it's kind of my daily, I just want a simple easy safe 610 to 620 wheel.. Like I always say, I want to drive through inspection like the car came from Ford that way..

    Maybe I'm just ignorant to engine building and engineering, but wouldn't the "burst panel" be more beneficial, and functional, sitting on the top of the intake? Sure, it may take away from the aesthetics, but isn't saving money/engines a little more important? If the pressure is building inside the cavity it seems it makes more sense to send it up instead of back. Again, I have peanuts worth of knowledge in this, so I'd be interested to learn why my thought is wrong.

    Great video. Curious how much lower the RWHP would be on a chassis dyno given the inertia and resistance losses not accounted for with no wheels and tires on a hub dyno?

    Go look up the price tag. It doesn’t cost anything to leave material on instead of machining it off, im not bashing them. Its just a 6k dollar intake it should be strong, all im saying is leave some more beef around the bolts maybe even step the bolt size up

    Obviously an exaggeration to say a billet intake manifold should hold more than 42. We’ve had 50-60 through them.
