Very well explained. But, although Levemir is marketed as covering 24 hours with a single dose, this is not the case: one needs a dose twelve hourly. And Lantus starts wearing off at about twenty hours. I do not think it is at all inevitable that people with type 2 will need insulin at some point. There are physicians who are enabling type 2s to come off all medication, by using a very low carbohydrate diet.
