INSULATING THE PROMASTER USING THINSULATE | van build
INSULATING THE PROMASTER USING THINSULATE | van build
IG ‣ / trav_travels_
Continuing on the van build with fully insulating the walls, ceiling and doors. I chose to use 3M Thinsulate for my insulation because of ease of use, its safe to use, moisture resistant and provides sound deadening. It comes with a price but seems to be worth the investment. I ended up using some craft paper to create templates to cut out the insulation to get the most out of each roll. For my 159 wheelbase Promaster, I purchased 50' (a 30' roll and a 20' roll) and had a little leftover to double up in certain areas.

Have fun and take care and take it easy and enjoy it
you could conserve on the super 90 spray by just spraying around the perimeter of each piece and same on the sheetmetal where it goes. If you ever have to take a piece out to add a window/run a wire etc it'll be easier to get out.

John, neat point. I’ll prob use that in MY build. Thank you.
Sitting in the back of my car in the UK watching before I roll over onto my makeshift bed dreaming of all that space..
My KZread notifications sure made me happy today! Great to see you again, dude. Van looks like it’s really coming along. Really enjoying the build progress! Hope you and Sam are doing well!! ✌️

Thanks ash !!
Looks, great dude! Nice choice on the product! Easiest and mess-free. Stoked to see the progress.
I've got a silver 2022 promaster 3500 high top extended coming from the factory in Mexico and am impatiently awaiting it's arrival. It's somewhere between the factory parking area in Saltillo Mexico and the port in Georgia. It already has the rear windows and the sliding door window. This insulation looks like the ticket. I won't be living in the van long term. It's really a solution to a problem. My wife and I are semi retired and have two Goldens (Buster and Lily) and a psychokitty, Rascal who thinks he's a dog. A feline who identifies as a canine. . . it's so avant garde! Problem is that we want to spend more time with the grandkids but they are spread all over hells' half acre, and to get a pet sitter for three for a month at a time is really hard. . . so usually we take turns going to visit the kids and grandkids. So I got my wife hooked on vanlife videos and told her we could get a van and ALL go on these trips together. Big dogs means big van. Anyway, I'm a woodworker/cabinetmaker/ boat builder by trade so building out a van is easy peasy for me. I love all of these vlogs! I learn so much from youtube! Thanks for the video.
That's one neck of a task to check off! Great job. I like the thought of using thinsulate. It's a more modern choice and the sound filtering is a great trade off from your prior choice. Super seeing how things are coming along. Stay safe.😊
Thanks, very helpful, starting my old sprinter soon.
Great job Trav, van is coming along nicely. Cheers from Australia

Realizing that I got you mixed up with someone else 😬 I saw your vids a while back and forgot to subscribe and one day I found “you” and then I watch his vids and was like “ummm, this is not him” weeks later, I find you! Lol. I subscribed and won’t lose you this time!
How many cans of the adhesive did you need?
Dog Logic! I don't understand it either but it must make sense because your dog IS a smart blonde (Golden Retriever).
Great video!! Flat head srew driver will remove buttons.
Love your Channel Man! Im thinking about getting a Patriot and Converting it for Travel Adventures! Cant Quite Afford a Van Yet lol
So funny I was kind thinking to message you like dude how’s the building going!

You are so lucky 🍀 to have SAM ! He is sooooooo cool !! How old is he ?! He’s your shadow for sure 👍🏼
You can handle it with out a face mask? What is it made of?
Would this work ok under the floor board? I have a little nv200 and i dont want a permanent build, i will be selling it in a couple years and want the buyer to have the option to use it as a cargo van like it was intended, so everything i do needs to be easy to remove but even though i have primed and pained to prevent rust inside i still worry about trapped moisture in the floor. I live in dry country but will be traveling to the coast and across the US next spring.

The 3M “Thinsulate” he’s using doesn’t absorb water like other materials do, so that’s a good thing for what you’re dealing with.
I like to know if it’s possible that you can tell me where you get your windows. PLEASE ??

Thanks for the great vid guide! How many cans of adhesive spray did you use for all the thinsulate?

Took 2 full cans. I definitely could have used 3 but they were VERY hard to come by where I was in California. Seemed like they were out of stock just about everywhere.

@@TravTravels thanks very much for the info! I just ordered 3 of the 14oz cans, which is probably only a little more volume than the 2 bigger sized cans you used. I didn’t realize how expensive this spray adhesive was. I’ll have to wait and see if I need more lol.
I've been searching and searching how to do insulate my van. By far your method is thr best way!!!

Totally Beautiful, mostly you. You are a younger version of me. Love ya..
How satisfied are you with the insulating power of Thinsulate, now you have been through a winter with it?

@@TravTravels I appreciate the feedback. I have been sifting through all the various insulating opinions on KZread and I need to commit. I was originally going to go with a 3 product/layer method, but I see people just use Thinsulate which seems a lot easier as long as it works!
Checkout VanCity VanLife on KZread....there is a couple that has a Van and they used Truck Rubber spray and it has stopped condensation....this needs to be put on all undercarriages of the vehicle here in Atlantic Canada....to stop the rust on non heated surfaces that rust bad...enjoy your channel....Cheers

You have to be careful that stuff can clog drainage holes and other areas and therefore cause RUSTING.
I can invite you to test our latest product: LED headlight for a car?
