Insulating the garage. Reflectix Insulation. Does it work? It works AMAZING!

I went to two of my local Lowes stores and was only able to find one roll of Reflectix BP24025 24 inch by 25 Feet Bubble Pack Insulation. I bought the one roll to test it out. I need 13 rolls total. I ordered the other 12 rolls from Amazon at about the same price. Links below.

Yup. it's necessary to ALWAYS leave an air gap in order to get the best of the insulating and reflective properties from that stuff.

Thanks for your comment. I have linked the Reflectix installation video in the comments. As shown in their video in southern climates, they approve installing directly to the plywood.

Reflextix and other reflecting insulation works better under the roof with an air gap of at least an inch. Check your instructions.

Thank you for your comment. I linked the Reflectix instruction video in the comments section. As shown in the video, in the southern region of the US it can be stapled directly to the plywood. In other regions they recommend a 1/4" in air gap. I just checked it in full sunlight at 99 degrees outside. Reflectix was 99 degrees and the bare plywood panel next to it was 131 degrees.

@@mickeyj4228 gotcha. I'm in the north, different rules. IR thermometers lie when pointed at reflective surfaces, the read the bounce you'll have to read room temps after finishing. Personally my experience with reflective insulation is they are more hype than effectiveness. Up north I prefer mineral wool for bug and moisture resistance.
