Instruoducing: Instruō - àradh and tágh

Announcement time!
Here are two new old modules :)
I have been trying to get these in production for quite some time now. Delays in supply chain forced these to the background for too long.
àradh is a new take on a transistor ladder filter and fills the role of fat "East" Coast subtractive filter as well as adding a dedicated low-pass gate (LPG) to the Instruō range.
Plus some other quirks!
tágh is not a V2 but is in fact the OG module that I had in mind for the name a long time ago.
It's a 4HP powerhouse of modulation sources and clock utilities.
Please check out the full Overview videos for both àradh and tágh now :)
In addition I would like to introduce the first production range of Instruō spacer panels.
Available now are 1HP, 2HP, 4HP, 6HP, 8HP, 10HP, 12HP and a very special limited run of 14HP.
The 14HP panel features a glorious picture of my Greyhound Winston wearing his jammies.
gal.org.uk/
"GAL is a registered charity in Scotland (SC031027) that rescues and rehomes Greyhounds and Lurchers throughout Scotland. "
A donation of £7.50 will be made to GAL for every panel sold from the limited batch.
Hope to see you all at Superbooth this year!
Cheers
~Jason

    Are those custom cases at 6:53 - they look like they maybe close / hinge from the middle?

    They are cases from Art for the Ears (artfortheears.com/). Really great cases. The majority of the system at the workshop are walnut in that style. They aren’t hinges, the cheeks are multi-piece and essentially reconfigurable to different sizes. Great design! I’m taking two 12U and two 6U systems to Superbooth this year. It’s an impressive display! ☺️

    What's the voltage (octave) range on the noise? I'd like to replace my Doepfer, but it's the only random source I have with any real voltage range.

  • @instruo

    @instruo

    Жыл бұрын

    Can you clarify you mean by range/octave? Amplitude of the noise? Or of the S&H and algorithm output? Algorithm is 10V peak to peak with the ability of bias to -/+10V unipolar positive or negative. The analogue S&H will sample a little over 12V peak to peak amplitudes or so with good stability.

  • @mntbighker

    @mntbighker

    @@instruo Most modules that have S/H of built in noise are either 2v uni or 4v bi noise. So the S/H is fine for random pitch. But not as useful for modulation. The Doepfer A118-2 has a gain control and much louder noise signal potential. So I was curious what this module has. It's not in the specs.

  • @instruo

    @instruo

    Жыл бұрын

    @@mntbighker the relationship between noise amplitude and random step amplitude distribution derived from a S&H is not so simple. Sampling white noise will result (curiously) in a slightly positive weighted distribution that follows a vague bell curve. Nature of the beast... It’s why analogue S&Hs that sample noise are generally lower in amplitude than the typical peak to peak of an oscillator. On my previous limited edition tagh module I was able to saturate the source noise so as to increase the over all rms which results in a much wider depth of random steps. The S&H on that design was an optimised integrated circuit. Again it positive weights. But is very usable. This new tagh is a more traditional discrete circuit design. The specs in the 4HP tagh manual stipulate “full scale” for the analogue S&H I/O. This more typically relates to practical sampling of a curated signal. LFO, waveform, envelope etc. In this case the source signals amplitude defines the possible sampled amplitudes levels. This I assume is due to a more limited bandwidth of source amplitudes. In the full video I demonstrate this comparison when using the tain to randomly toggle repeating steps on algorithm 2’s ring buffer. The algorithmic output, as I mentioned, is 10V peak to peak. 10 octaves with offset and scaling capabilities on board. Digital pseudo random actually produces a more practical random distribution steppes voltage strangely! Hope this clarifies :)
