Instructional Video on How to tie a 6 strand round braid

This is how I was taught on tying the 6 strand round braid. there is other videos out there but none to me really explained it easy enough to follow. This is my take on it, please feel free to ask any questions if your confused I will try to address them to the best of my knowledge.

Thank You so much for starting from the beginning and having clear easy instructions! Why do so many start their videos from the middle of the braid? It makes no sense to me.

I watched like 7 different videos on how to do this and your video was by far the easiest to follow. I’m making a diy battle rope with 6 strands of 1/4” polypropylene rope and figured a round braid would be the best way to combined them. Awesome video thank you

That is a help, so thank you for taking the time to reply. I don't mind doing a bit of trail and error to test this out.

This is really useful. Thank you for posting such a clear video explaining how to do this braid. I have one question though, how do you work out how much cord you need to create say a foot long braid?

I have started over 4 times get about 6 inches that looks but after that it starts looking like crap. I asked the wife what I am doing wrong and after watching me and seeing I was doing ever thing right. She has been sewing, knitting and other crafts for more years than I can count. And her suggest was to braid the three colors separately making 3 separate braids then braid them together that way it would look uniform. So that is what I did to make my motorcycle whip.

Not for nothing but I show you the technique on how to make something, its up to you to be creative and learn how to make projects yourself, BUT if you had looked at my other videos you'll see that i have a couple videos showing you how to end a 4 strand braid into a necklace. you can adapt those techniques into this for the same end result.

what is the diameter of those cords? I'm trying to make a horse lead rope and need something thicker than 5/32" which is all i can find. Do you know anywhere i can get something thicker?

Is the back side braided the same as the front? I did a German version and the back looks braided. When I stopped yours and verified how to tie, it did the same... the front looked spiral, the back looked braided.

First round -- you move strand 1 through 5 and 6, braided over and under 5 and 4 and then said "strand 3 on the right", but you really moved strand 6 to the right into position 3, correct?

its really trial and error honestly it depends on how tight you really tie it. Around a single strand core I think is a 2 to 1 ratio meaning every 2 feet of cord will tie 1 foot of braid. just gotta test it out yourself i honestly forget. Sorry!

Dude,, colors of numbers, ONE or the other NOT both.Folks might not be using the same My Little Pony colors. Gets pretty damn confusing when you switch back and forth from number sot colors. Had to go through this thing nine friggin times before I got it figured out. One of the most frustrating tutorials I have ever had the misfortune to watch.

I didn't force you to sit and watch this video 9 times, you could of easily went to another video showing how to tie this. I used bright different colors to show technique, others seemed to have gotten it relatively easily. Sorry it didn't work for you.

JJiG Yeah I guess I asked for that. What can I say? It was frustrating because I was trying to do it and only had a certain amount of time to do so. Meh, thanks for the effort of putting it up there just the same.
