Cool!!! I am using the void base installer then a series of scripts to setup the rest of my system. Your script will allow me to eliminate the base installer and adapt your script to the system I want. I did the same thing with Eznix script a few years ago on Arch. This is NOT a waste of time. I’ll probably adapt your script to allow me to use the current partitions on the drive. Thanks!!! ❤❤❤

@@JakeLinux In my experience, scripts, like languages, are ever evolving. I developed a series of scripts to selectively backup or restore different parts of my system on demand. That has gone through many iterations over the past three years. My install scripts started with a multi-page set of instructions for installing my system. Those too, one for Void and another for FreeBSD, are being modified regularly along with scripts to deal with the modifications. I’m sure that your install script will follow a similar path, especially since you are already on version 2. 😉

Doesn't Nix already do what you're trying to do with instaVoid. Nix could either be installed as an OS or can be used in conjunction with an existing distro/OS utilizing the Declarative aspect of Nix. I have never done it but if I understand correctly it might work for your application utilizing the work you have already done. Thank you for the interesting, informative content.

In my void setup, I couldn't make the touch pad work. I was using qtile. The touchpad tap on click function was not available. I had made it work in arch with dwm and debian with qtile, but doing the same thing didn't worked in void. Also the audio was not working, I tried pipewrire first and then pulseaudio. Pulseaudio worked but after a reboot it stopped working and i couldn't make it work again. It would be great if your script could address these issues too. Also adding swap partition too. Thanks a lot. I am eagerly waiting for the script.

Sorry to bother! I need some help. My problem is that I keep my scripts in the ~/.local/bin folder, and they can execute from anywhere in the terminal. However, when I launch dmenu or rofi, these tools do not read any of my scripts in the ~/.local/bin folder; they only read the scripts I wrote in /usr/local/bin. The weird thing is that dmenu only reads my scripts if I execute dmenu_run through the terminal, but with a keybind, none of the scripts are visible.

@@randomsearches369 pipe your desired directory into dmenu, otherwise it uses the defaults and I don't believe ~/.local/bin is one of them. So you will have to make a simple little script and call that script with a keybinding. What type of scripts are you trying to run?
