Thanks, very useful! I've been using Linux, bash scripts and the command line for almost 5 years now without taking the time to configure this.

There is so much more that can be done, I have barely scratched the surface myself.

Great video! I customized my bash.rc a while back. You gave me some more ideas. I need to dive into this some more. Another video on this would be great.

I hope you feel better soon. I'm looking to switch from fedora to void in about a week since I'm getting a new pc. Your videos have helped me a lot, thank you.

Thank you, and you are very welcome, I'm glad they have helped. What is making you switch from fedora? I've never used fedora but i know it's popular, and what made you choose void? Void is a great distro but not as well known and does not get enough love so I am curious what is drawing people to it?

@@JakeLinux I honestly just want something that I can say I configured to my liking from the start. I've been using fedora for about three years and I've always been slightly annoyed with it. Never really enough to change to something else though. I'm sure it's just my laziness and lack of willingness to try solutions but things like a not ideal amounts of customizability, the sound of my favorite game not working on specifically fedora so I have to do some hacky workout to get it work, and honestly just a bunch of stuff I don't want being there, being there. As to why I want to switch to void I just took the the distrochooser quiz and it was one of the options. I looked it up more liked what I saw. Specifically, not being a fork, not running systemD, a helpful community, a distro where I actually have to learn what I'm doing and why, it being "more stable" than other rolling release distros I've heard about and pretty bare so I can have an "empty canvas" to work from. The main driving force was the new PC. I've been itching to switch to something that I felt gave me the sense of freedom I wanted and I felt getting it setup on something fresh and new would be really fun. I really enjoy reading manual and stuff to figure out how things work and feel like it's a useful skill to have. So that's it! One thing I'll probably be having trouble with is partitioning my drive, never done that before so I hope I can get more familiar in the coming days. Thank you again and have a great day.

Great video! I changed my OpenBSD server from ksh to bash and didn't have .bash_profile. So eventough I made .bashrc and .inputrc when I connected the PS1 and alias were'nt loaded I had to invoke '$ bash' to get the configs right.

Either one, they should be exactly the same. I am behind on git maintenance though, I need to make a couple of commits and push some changes on a few of my repos.

Great Video ^^ Sorry this is might long please bear it iam sorry ->i am a noob to linux but i have a quesion so now i am using arch and all i know literally sudo pacman -S brah brah right now i want to use it for web development environment but my laptop thinkpad x220 ram8 when open chromium tab it using so much ram (i use i3wm) i don't know that i am doing something wrong?because i install arch the manual way and then go straight to install i3wm install chromium vscode using yay and nothing else did i miss package like intel-ucode or hardware package stuff so my laptop resource using too much? and that's why right now i am thinking about switching from arch to void because runit might make my laptop using more minimal i think what is your opinion is void will be able to install like development tools for programming in general okay right? if i don't have package in xbps i have to git clone and cmake from source stuff right that right? is it harder than systemd arch linux iam very sorry this is very long quesion but thank you for reading

Jake, in the bashrc you can also just create a bash.bashrc.local or a bashrc.local and just do all of the changes in this 'daughter' file and leave the original alone. Great video. Finally getting back to the 'set' command I see. I have also found that flu bug. It stinks. TTYL, glad to see new content.
