Keys to the loss... 1. All those early penalties on offence 2. CMC fumble in the 1st quarter 3. That punt reception dabacle 4. Shanahan abandons the run for 1.5 quarters and the offence contributes nothing 5. The missed point after 6. and didn’t get the TD being on the 5 yard line in overtime It’s not like the Chiefs “beat” the Niners. The Niners beat themselves

They ran the ball enough but regardless of the call, run or pass they just didn't do enough. No niners fan seriously believed that the niners Defense would be able close out a game against mahomes. Niners dominated early but it needs to translate into points not just having momentum. When they couldn't do anything after picking off mahomes it was a bad omen. Frankly the niners had to play a clean game to beat Chiefs

Niners needed a clean game to beat mahomes. Football is a game of mojo and momentum and we had it in the first half but not enough points to show for it. They also needed to make mahomes pay for throwing that pick early in the 3rd quarter. Teams with a killer instinct always cash in those mistakes. Giving Kansas City that gift turn over on that punt was devastating. The defense just forced a stop and we bailed them out. It's pretty much impossible to beat mahomes in a close game you have to pull away at the end. Not too many defenses are going to close out a game on mahomes

Defense played out of their minds for 4 quarters even with greenlaw going down. KS inexplicably goes from easily running it down their throats for one drive to calling nothing but play action passes and gadget plays every fucking down even though we can’t block for long enough to do either. The “genius” out thinks himself again. Great.

Not really. That hold (the 2nd penalty) was complete bs, same as the holding call against Willis much later. Meanwhile the Chiefs were clotheslining our guys over and over, no calls (there was one hold against Burks late that was so obvious I was screaming it in real-time). Plus the blatantly obvious PI on Deebo in the endzone that got missed (the defender clearly held Deebo's right arm down). The officials didn't have any obvious crunch time blunders, but they definitely fucked us a few times.

What happened is exactly what I expected to happen. O-line wasn't able to protect Purdy and the Chiefs O-line did a better job at protecting Mahomes. The 49ers abandoned the run game early and waiting until late in the game to reestablish the run. 49ers O-line could not create enough pass protection to keep the timing of the plays alive. If 49ers don't address the O-line pass protection and greatly improve it from this season. We will be in the same boat next year. Kyle's number one priority needs to be getting Purdy much improved protection in the pass game. This will greatly help our defense from having to go back out on the field so soon. Chief's was the better team. Let's just hope Kyle addresses the areas that need to be addressed moving forward if he wants to ever win a Superbowl. We got our QB now let's build around him and the sky will be the limit.

It's not a rivalry if one of the teams never wins. Shanahan gives away another 10pt lead and another Lombardi Trophy with that atrocious play calling. He was out classed and out coached and went out with a whimper over and over and over again. He had a deer in the headlights look to him from the 2qtr on. He is now officially a choke artist, and he won't be winning a Super Bowl anytime soon. He should be ashamed of the product he fielded, as a 49ers fan I certainly am. The team offense disappeared for almost 2qtrs. We had no buisness even squeaking into OT. SF now had lost 3 Super Bowls in a row. Of course the 2 playoff game comebacks were thrilling, but SF should have never been in those situations anyway. There is a pretty bad stink on Shanahan now, his play calling curses his playoff teams. Just an absolutely franchise wrecking loss when a win was right there for the taking

CMC looked gassed. Should have rotated running backs. Just might have had a different outcome.

Chiefs defense adjusted and played much better in second half. We needed a clean game to beat a mahomes/Brady caliber QB. That fumble by CMC cost niners points and that muffed punt debacle was back breaking easily 10-14 point swing.

You could tell this one was F’d when McCaffery lost the ball on the opening drive, just like the game in Cleveland .

Not addressing the OL in the draft and free agency bit them in the ass in the most important game of their lives. Just a horrible tough loss that will be hard to get over for a while
