    Go for the one on sale. Both do the exact same things. As previous commenters noted, presets are redundant. Different names do similar things. I love my crockpot express and it was $30.00 cheaper at the time.

    Love my Crockpot (bought it simply because in Europe it is only option available). But its great! You can brown anything, just use browning/sautéing option. I even bake potatoes and bread in it. Potatoes end up perfectly crispy and nothing sticks to the pot.

    I have one, my family has the other. No difference at all, buy whichever one thats on sale.. they cook the exact same way. Anyone that can tell the difference between meat done in a teflon pan, as opposed to stainless, is a liar. Gordon Ramsay uses teflon in half his franchises, so does Flay.

    This review seems slightly contrived. The Instant Pot doesn’t have a “cheesecake” button either and they are a fan favorite dessert. There’s no need to have a button for everything. Some things are simply trial and error while most things have been covered in a recipe online. Rice comes out perfectly every time once you have the right recipe. White / brown and jasmine rice’s each have their own cook times and recipes.

    I've been trying to figure that out too (I own the CP). I'm hearing conflicting things online and the website and manual doesn't say. I bought it when it was $35 during Labor Day at Best Buy. I have a Total Tech membership so it was a no brainer to buy it as Instant Pot Duo at Walmart (right now) is $50. My CP inner pot is already scratched. I don't think it's Teflon but I do think it has PTFE or something like that...Once I find out I'll let you know.

    @cnet I feel like you're misrepresenting Instant pot in this segment, as they have several models other than the Lux, all of which include the beans and Chili feature. (I had to do a lot of model research to pick one) I think a better comparison video would be the original 6 qt Instant Pot vs 6 qt Crock Pot, which is likely what Crock Pot was intending to rival. That said, excellent video highlighting the other differences, thank you!

    Yes, Making rice in the IP tends to stick to the bottom of the pot. They do sell a nonstick aluminum insert for $15-$20, however, Aluminum doesn't heat and brown as well as stainless steel, so it is a uni-tasker. Also, No need for a chili button. There are plenty of IP chili recipes to use with manual settings.

  • @PuppetShows2300

    @PuppetShows2300

    6 жыл бұрын

    No. Rice does not stick on the IP. I cook rice all the time and have never seen that effect shown on the video. Get your water to rice ratio correct: 1 cup rice to 1 cup water plus 1/2 cup water for cooking loss. So, 1 cup rice to 1.5 cup water. 2 cup rice to 2.5 cup water. White rice 6 minutes, brown 20 minutes.

    Good grief. I love product reviews so that I can figure out if I need to upgrade or replace my kitchen items. This review seems to lack accuracy in reporting. I'll assume that the presenter was unaware that the Instant Pot that was used in the comparison was an outdated model. The one I purchased several years ago has a bean/chili button. Also the rice I make turns out just fine, so I'm guessing it's operator error?

    The setting on Instant Pot for the length of time it cooks rice is probably too long. All you have to do is use manual and set the proper time for the type of rice. I don't have an IP, I have a Cosori, and I never use the preset rice time, it's too long as are most of these EPC's. But using the manual and setting it correctly, you'll get perfect rice.

    I love my Anova Sous Vide immersion cooker as well... Best steaks ever! But wait for over an hour to eat a meal after coming home from a long days work? I think not! Unless you want to do a lot of prep work pre cook and freeze. They each have their place! I love my IP Ultra! BTW you need to learn to layer your food in a pressure cooker just like a slow cooker. Since the heating element is on the bottom, need to put the dense root vegetables in first so that you don't have the overcooked spots. You can also use the steamer trivets or a pot in pot idea with no burn spots. Oh and you still need to brown your Sous Vide cooked meat as well for the best taste. These multi mode electric Stainless Steel insert pots can do that for you, not as good as an iron skillet or grill granted, but they do well in a pinch! ;-)
