Instant Pot Basic Bean Soup
Recipe Here: pressureluckcooking.com/recip...
Are there better things than a world that's currently under isolation? Lots. And chances are we have some non-perishables that have been collecting dust just waiting for a chance to be used. But before we panic we won't be able to cook something satisfying, I am willing to bet you already have the essentials for an INCREDIBLY SIMPLE AND DELICIOUS soup right in your Instant Pot.
All it takes are TWO basic ingredients to get this soup started: beans and broth (or water). The rest of the seasonings are likely to be found in your cupboard and are totally up to you to customize this Basic Bean Soup into a hearty and delicious meal.
And since dried beans cook rapidly under pressure with no overnight soaking required, this is going to be done in record time.

I add carrots, celery seed and a tbsp of red chilli flakes before pressure cooking. There are so many ways of making this. You could even add a bit of liquid smoke instead of ham if you don't eat meat.

I want to add this too! When did u add it to the soup ??
@4:28 he added the dry beans without washing them... That's how I did it for four decades. And then I tried washing(rinsing) them in a clear glass bowl. Just run water on them and agitate, dump the dirty water and repeat until the water stops being dirty. And yeah, sometimes the water looks like you just washed your dog in it. I always wondered why sometimes my beans tasted "earthy". RINSE YOUR BEANS!!

Great recipe. Only thing i would add is to make sure you go through your beans and check that you do not have any rocks in the bag and rinse the beans . That it was a great video idea.
I've been making pretty much this exact same recipe for a while, but I use the 15-bean soup mix, and also add in a smoked turkey leg into the pot before cooking. Once it's done, the meat falls off the turkey leg and adds amazing flavor.

Hi there. I LOVE how you are giving substitute ingredients to use (onion/no onion, butter/Olive oil). You make it really easy to use what we have on hand. 🙌 Thank you.v☺️☺️
Please make more of these kind of recipes! Using simple ingredients we already have in the cupboard. It is so helpful right now!! Thank you.
Thank you for the base recipe! My version tonight had: 5 diced hot Italian sausage (from the freezer), 1 onion, several small sweet peppers, chopped fresh green beans (cause they were in the fridge), 2 gutted yellow squash (cause they were in the fridge), chicken broth (from the freezer), chopped garlic, red chili flakes, ground mustard, ground cumin and about 2 cups lentils from a bulk container I had on hand. I didn't stop and blend. I let it go through the whole cycle. It was so delicious!
When I saw this video I knew I had to try it with the dried navy beans in my cabinet. I followed your suggested ingredients but also added some fresh spinach that I needed to use up. OMG it was amazing! Thanks so much for all your inspiration to get me in the kitchen to cook.
Perfect, Jeff..... comfort food for “social distancing”..... thank you so much!

When the time is up, I turn on saute and lightly boil for a few minutes to thicken.
Thank you for the basics. Last night I made lima bean and ham hock soup. This is the time to get down to healthy, hearty basics! Beans in the Instant Pot are awesome!!
I am nearly 81 years old, and I have never soaked my beans. Neither did my mother. It’s just never been necessary. I will be putting chunks of ham in my bean soup. That will add a lot of flavor. No course there will be onion and I do have garlic. I also use better than bullion as a base for all of my broth. That stuff is amazing. I like the idea of using my immersion blender to thicken the soup. Good idea.
I KNEW you would have something up your sleeve for us! I'm going nuts confined in my home this weekend and watching your videos always cheers me up, especially now! It's just nice to be reminded we're all in this together and even during a voluntary quarantine, we can still eat well! ♥️
Made this today with a few additions ( celery, carrots, kale and chorizo) and it came out perfectly. Thanks!

Hey, Jeff! Just made the soup! I had to use ham stock instead and I also added a finely chopped celery stalk and a couple of thinly sliced carrots. As it turned out, my Northern Beans were still a little too hard so I cooked them an additional 15 minutes. They turned out perfect. I also used all the spices maple syrup and it turned out delicious!

Looks delicious. Mother made some bean soup for Dad because he was from TN and he grew up on it. Dad liked smoked ham hock in it and of course the cornbread cooked in a cast iron skillet. I didn't like it as a kid but grew to tolerate it later. You made me hungry for a bowl of bean soup. Especially now with the Instant Pot, it's easy peasy.

works great. i love that it has stainless steal pot inside kzread.infoUgkxG-7WiT7ocumjytOpHDFt632PL0pxXRAg and not the one with coating. we used to have a coated pot before, and the coating slowly peels, and i am sure went into the food that we cooked. Absolutely love stainless steel, and will not use a coated product again. This pot has many settings and many buttons, and i need to sit down with a manual to figure out which setting to use. I used the basic functions, and even though i am not technologically skilled, i turned it on and assembled it without any help.Very satisfied with this product overall.

Here in the south, the white beans are really popular over rice. As well as red beans of course. We just season our beans with ham or other seasoning meat like smoked sausage. This way sounds like a really good way to get them to cream and be tender lots easier. Thanks for this.
