I fucking love Henk. And the fact he was singing this for Floor who was totally fangirling out on the couch, makes it even better.

This clip, including the commentary both before and after the performance is available on jenniezelf's channel. You should watch that. Henk sang this for Floor, as it was her turn on the center couch. He stated that he was going to sing it, but sing the Disturbed arrangement of the song, and that for an opera singer, you'd be fired immediately if you were to use distortion in a performance. It's a huge no-no. But he learned how to use it, within an hour, to perform this for Floor. So as you know, this was done in the same season of Beste Zangers that Floor was on. With that, you should react to both Floor and Henk singing Phantom of the Opera, from that same season. If I remember correctly, theirs was the final performance for that season of show. As you've reacted to Nightwish singing it, you'll definitely enjoy that one.

He was the lead in the Dutch production of the musical Phantom of the Opera back in the early '90s and also sings opera and classical music "art songs". This is out of his wheelhouse and he created that raspy tone just for Floor. Floor does the Phantom duet with him in the show finale and it's pretty freaking amazing. If you're interested in the episode where Floor is in the "hot seat" (which this performance is from) my favourites are Rolf Sanchez doing Hotel California for her (a favourite of her dad's that she shares) and he does a kickin', latin-infused version that is delightful, Tim Akkerman doing an up-tempo punky pop/rock version of Nightwish's "Nemo" that's fun (but odd), Samantha Steenwijk doing a translated into Dutch version of Nightwish's "Our Decades in the Sun" [Ik ben altijd dicht bij jou] (she is so nervous about it as it's also way out of her wheelhouse, she's famous for popular/folky, Dutch pub-style songs normally ["Mama" - the song Floor sang, was hers] and REALLY wanted to do it well for Floor and she does an awesome job of it), and Emma Heesters doing a song Floor wrote when she was with After Forever: "Strong" (about Floor's mother suffering from rheumatism, you get to see Floor melt into a puddle - like she does to everyone who listens to her sing... Revenge!). Ruben Annink also sings a Sting song for her which is pretty good (but I'm not a fan of Sting's style of music) and does a nice job of it. I have to say I love that you're watching the versions with the banter before & after to put the performances into context. It's an amazing show!

It is indeed a very good version. Henk even met Andrea before he became famous. I think he tells the story during the Beste Zangers show episode

Not necessarily effort... just control. Henk has been singing opera and classical music art songs for decades, his technique is a well oiled machine. His exploration of distortion here is what's amazing! Way out of his wheelhouse!

Our Floor had a Poortgasm Love from Those Netherlands

Henk Poort learned to use destortion to be able to do this. He is an opera / musical / classical singer. This is totally out of his comfort zone. And take in mind his age. His distortion is not that smooth (yet? ), but who cares !

Just keep on watching Beste Zangers 2019 episodes. The "Grand Finale" (in my opinion, but also kudos for the other singers and the band) would be something to your liking, I think. Henk is involved.

The arrangement is the Disturbed version, honestly I still prefer David's voice here but Henk did a great job specially considering he added distortion for the first time, normally he doesn't sing like that in opera or musicals.
