Installing the BMW LED Door Projectors - BMW How-To

Learn in this video how to install the BMW LED Door Projectors. They are available as an accessory and you can easily install them yourself on your BMW equipped with entry door lights. The new projectors have the BMW logo design installed by default. An additional BMW M logo design is included. A further projector slide package with BMW M Performance designs is available. If you want to exchange the slide insert, remove the light panel by turning it a quarter of a turn anticlockwise. Then take out the lens cluster and pull it apart. Now you can replace the slide insert with another one with the “TOP” side facing up. Push the lens cluster back together and insert it back into the door projector. Close it again by twisting the light panel onto the opening. The lens with the slide insert can be rotated by 360° to adjust the image.

Good to allow the customer to DIY install accessories by themselves
Just installed these on a 22 M850. Process was SUPER easy!! Less than 5 mins. I didn’t even need a screwdriver. I just pulled out the old one by hand and replaced it. Thank you!

I wish the DIY would have worked smoothly as depicted in this video. After watching this video, I bought the door lights from a bmw dealership but the installation on the BMW X5 G05 B57 (with production date Oct.2021) was a nightmare, as you will need a cutter-knife to cut-off some material to allow the light to fit nicely. After my failed installation attempt, I took my vehicle with the light to a BMW dealership, with the midset that they gave me the wrong set but it turned out to be the correct sets for my vehicle. The BMW dealership mechanic also had to use his cutter-knife to sheer-off some material before the lights was able to fit. The way I saw him struggled to insert the light, scare the hell out of me not even dare to change the projection inserts. As a 1st time BMW owner, this was a big disappointment moving from KIA to BMW. When KIA advertised a product, its works as advertise and I was expecting the same for a high-end car. I considered this video as misleading. BMW, should work hand-in-hand with their accessories provides to ensure that things work as advertise.

Same here, was able to follow instructions and switch the slides to m badge but unable to install this new fatter projector into the existing opening of my 2022 X3 M40i. Anyone successful in getting this installed on a newer X3 ??

@@anandraman2163 You will need to use a file to file off some of the door panel material from the light slot. Thats what I did on my 2021 X5 (G05)... file all four sides of the slot. Do it bit by bit and keep testing after every section of filing.......

Trying to check if they fit on my Z4; G29. Giving my VIN number it says the projector lamps are not compatible with my car but the matching projector slides are in fact ok to fit my vehicle. I am aware that there are two different models of projector lamps; the older version and a newer, slightly smaller version. Can bmw help me. I' ve been to the local bmw agent but even these people are puzzled.

@@BMW Sieht echt geil aus. Hab mir die "Teile" auch gekauft für 5€ in China. BMW hat sehr gute Fortschritte gemacht in den letzten 15 Jahren. Hatte Mercedes und zuletzt Audi..... JETZT BMW. Wenn es so bleibt, bleibe ich bei BMW. Bei Audi wurde ich 2015 betrogen. Gute Autos, aber kommt für mich nicht mehr in Frage.

I just installed these with the performance slides and they are awesome. Sadly I was somehow expecting four projectors in the box :(. A bit expensive but totally worth it.

It’s a nightmare in the 2024 X5 model. I cannot fit it the design is beefier than the default factory light. Poor accessory collaboration. I didn’t bother to cut or trim the door panel. Got to return it to bmw accessories.
From where we can buy this product?

I bought the floating center caps for my F20 from the official BMW website. Every time a mechanic checks my car, they always compliment on its quality and rust-free appearance, which totally differs from their other customers who buy the floating center caps off ebay etc.
How long do these normally last? Compared to rip off brands?

+AliSharifi Different markets may have different availabilities, we would suggest you get in contact with your local BMW dealership. They will be glad to assist you.
Seems that unfortunately on the E89 the wiring inside the doors gives you exactly 0mm of length to pull the cable out making these impossible to install without an extension cable or taking off the entire door trim. I guess I'll look for somebody a bit more experienced with tinkering on cars as my dealership is exceptionally reluctant with changing parts, even ones BMW itself sells...

Why is my BMW Projection oval?
I am trying to install this on my 22 m440 gran coupe. Can you tell me the part number that fits on it. The bmw site only shows me the slides and not the projector as parts available for my model. Can you verify this please. Thank you
