at 2;07 change canister every season, change or clean? if you got to buy a new canister because of the element, its not a good thing

Thank you for contacting AprilAire! We recommend changing the canister and not cleaning it because the elements on the inside of the canister are coated with sediment from the water. The conductivity it provides may not operate as intended and will result in the humidifier running inefficiently. If you have any additional questions, we would be happy to assist. Still really confused why ductwork mounting is not advised yet the manual clearly directs that you can mount to duct work (cold air return is pretty common).

Thank you for contacting AprilAire! It is acceptable to mount the humidifier itself to metal ductwork, however, it is not advised for a few reasons as noted in the installation guide. Per page 12 in the mounting instructions, the unit is heavy when it is full of water and has been used over time. The ductwork needs to be structurally able to support such a heavy unit when it reaches 30+ pounds and not all ductwork can support this. On page 11 is the biggest reason we do not advise mounting on metal ductwork which is due to sound. The unit when operating has a lot of sound that it produces. This tends to reverberate throughout the ductwork and be very loud when a steamer is mounted on sheet metal. The metal ductwork can amplify the noise, and the homeowner will hear thudding and sounds coming from their vents. This is why we make the recommendation to use sound isolation or why we try to avoid mounting on the ductwork all together. @@aprilaireco Interesting… mounted mine to the cold air return on a 28 gauge galvanized patch, after removing the 500 series, and can’t say it makes much noise at all. Night and day difference, love the product.
