I got Shorai battery as well for my SF as my acid one leaked out and resulted in major power loss as I was riding, the weight difference is unbelievable when comparing the Yuasa vs Shorai. Only thing is, it definitely feels like is struggles to start and takes some cranking with lithium battery, I’ve heard many stories that your supposedly have to warm up the lithium battery by cranking it once and/or just turning the key on and leaving the dash on for like 30 sec or so before starting the bike? Is it all a bs?

MR Goodenough and Sony offered first commericial lithium battery in 1990’s. This made smartphone, lap tops, etc., long duration of charge, small energy dense batteries that were rechargeable.

big antigravity fan. i live in michigan and left my harley out all winter because i didn't have extra cash to put it in a heated garage (yeah yeah, i baby my bike) and hook up a trickle charger. i was positive i'd have to jump start it this spring but the thing fired right up. didn't even have to use the restart button. that's after 4 months of sitting idle.

Oh Jaret. Speedcell batteries have no exposed terminals, and are even lighter. There’s a reason why racers use Speedcell. 100% American made as well. Love the build though. Such a sweet bike, and congrats on the new house.

It sucks getting to it but it does allow for a really thin seat section.

The exhaust is the same like on the first Diavel.!! You have to powder coat it urgently !!!! 😎😎

love that you're doing a Monster , yeah mines the 821 Stealth but still same components more or less, case in point the battery you did. Id like to replace my oem one at some point, but for now ill keep oem, i also bought the Ducati charger $100 to plug in over winter here. looking forward to the exhaust!! im doing the Termi soon, but ive seen guys put the SC header on, Titanium, soo sick!

Have you heard of any problems with Lithium batteries in that you can destroy them with a standard regulator rectifier, they need a mosfet reg rec with a constant charge rather than standard one which spikes voltage charge, my local Ducati dealer had no idea wether a Ducati would work with Lithium battery.

If u read the instructions you can use a regular charger. It’s a nice battery so buy the nice charger. $100 is the new $20. $100 does not buy much anymore. All my bikes have lithium batteries. Last 3-5 times longer, longer warranty, no trickle charger needed, no corrosion on cables, no hydrogen explosive gas, lighter, chargers in minutes vs hours, higher CCA, able to turn engine over at only 10% charge(toxic lead corrosive acid batteries at 70% charge will not crank an engine), lithium only lose 1% charge/MONTH VS 1%/DAY WITH lead acid battery

The main negative that goes against one of the positives is that they actually drain faster than a stock battery if you have a parasitic draw or an alarm/immobiliser fitted to the bike, something many people don't seem to know, but need to take into account.

@@Nick-dz4ml no its not, it saves a few kg's, slightly lowers centre of gravity.. And leaving it sitting with an alarm, it will drain fast. They are great if you use your bike often enough or have the right trickle charger attaches when not in use, or remove it (but you lose your alarm then). I had one on my old bike for a long time with no issues, no charger.

A lead acid battery will last much longer without a charge as most vehicles have an alarm draining them, a lithium batter actually drains much faster when there is power being drawn. So if you have a garage queen, you're better off with the original lead acid battery, or fitting one as a few bikes come stock with lithium batteries now.
