Installing REDARC Tow Pro Elite Brake Controller in 2015 4Runner

Lets go over the installation of the REDARC Tow Pro Elite Brake Controller in our 2015 Toyota 4Runner. This "hidden" brake controller moves the main unit behind your dash and out of the way. While this does mean a bit more installation than the regular/everyday brake controllers, it isn't a significant amount of work, and the results are clean and fantastic looking on your dash.
The installation is pretty easy overall. It can be done in under an hour with breaks for beverages, and the install doesn't require modification to your vehicle... well, unless you install the way I did (I drill things). This is brake controller is replacing our older, knee killing, hard to use brake controller. We will have a review of this brake controller coming up soon...

I recommend going to REDARC site as they have a video installing this kit on a 5th generation 4runner and it is a much simpler install as far as locating module.

Yeah, they did not have that when I made this video.
I’m here cause of TRD JON, I’m looking all the accessories I’m gonna add to the 5th gen 4Runner I’m gonna get since my V8 4th gen got T-boned.

I wire it to the factory harness according to there website but the right signal and brake lights doesn’t work.after contacting customer service ,they admit the wiring is good but they ask me to buy the plug and play cable .guess what still not working.don’t but this product for Toyota 4 runner
Was the knob in the right-side set back spot hard to get your fingers around? Worried about emergency manual braking situation and not being able to quickly access the knob.

I don't have any problems with it. Even when I am wearing gloves, it is easy to turn by moving your finger along the bottom of the dial. However, the great thing about this setup - it's easy to move if you want to put it in one of the other dash blanks or a custom spot of your choosing.
Will this work for a 2nd gen taco?

Definitely, but I would check with REDARC to ensure you get the correct harness.
Does this work for the GX 460 also?

I don't have a GX, but the basis of the platform is the same. I would consult your owners manual. To date, I have only installed 2 of these. Both installs were on 4Runners.
I didn’t see you add the fuse. Is this because the vehicle already had a fuse attached to the wiring harness?

You know I don't even remember. I had the Tekonsha in the 4Runner for years before getting the REDARC. So, any additional fuses would have been done at this time. My 4Runner came with the tow package and the extra wiring harness already. So, I believe it was already fused in the panel.
I'd pay for an install but mechanics these days, as in many fields are wanting in capablilties.

It really wasn't a bad install for me. It took me a long time because of videoing really.
