Outfitting a Land Rover Discovery Series II for Off-Road
Part Four - Install Rock Sliders
Nowadays you can find a good used and affordable Discovery Series II for $3,500-5K. Add another $3K-5K and you can outfit your D2 for off-road in no time.
If you plan to off-road in your Discovery you'll want rock sliders to protect your vehicles' left and right sides.
Watch Doug, our Land Rover Master Technician, in Part Four of our video how-to series, as he removes and replaces the weak sill finishers that stretch beneath the D2's doors.
Doug then upgrades with and installs all-steel, body-mounted rock sliders, essential in protecting the doors from bending or breaking under stress when off-roading.
Another feature of the rock sliders is that they have pre-drilled holes so that you can mount your Hi-Jack.

Since many of these vehicles are aging, those plastic rivets will break anyway, so just yank them off. But if you would like to resale without the rock sliders pop rivets are a dime a dozen seriously, very cheap.

What if I have a body lift is there a drop bracket
I have a 2 inch suspension lift on my disco II with the bilstein shocks and springs after the factory shocks started to go.Just wondering want size tyres you would recommend with my set up without having to start cutting or a body lift?

Not sure if it's too late, but I was able to get the Milestar Patagonia X/T LT 265/75R16 in my 2002 Disco ii on the stock wheels. Look great, roll great. Would highly recommend.
What size tire do u have here ? 265 ?

No vibration has appeared so far. We would advise you to re-check your installation for any contact between the mount bracket and the body or frame.

кузов же при движении смещается относительно рамы... как же можно их жестко стягивать??? что-нибудь где-нибудь рвать будет. или кузов без подушек?

Александр Макаров там конструкция крепления другая, ни как у д1, пороги крепятся на болт подушки кузова, снизу. Видимо они так же крепят свои, на видео не видно...

рама, болт подушки и сама подушка жестко соединены. кузов зажат между двумя условно мягкими подушками. и из-за этого имеет некоторое смещение, например, на поворотах, кочках и т.п. по этому все навешиваемое крепится либо к кузову, либо к раме. и, на сколько я понял, рокслайдеры крепят, в основном, к кузову, а силовые пороги - к раме, хотя, мне кажется, что лучше все силовое к раме цеплять.
